So I hate to do this so last minute but due to a number of unforeseen circumstances (worked later, high winds and thunderstorms freaking Luna out, etc) I’m gonna have to postpone Zoo Tycoon night until tomorrow when things should hopefully have calmed down enough that it’s less likely my power goes out or my dog loses her mind the entire time. Start time should still be the same if everything goes to plan, just one day pushed.

@Tetricide can’t be bothered to google “Halifax” and “21” confirmed. The name continues to be divisive purely because people don’t want to understand how perfect it is for the VHLM.
 
FWIW as well there was a period where it was the basic thought that VHLM cities should be the smaller cities and save the larger ones like Montreal for the VHL. We kinda got away from that mentality when we moved all the M teams to NA but we were also rapidly expanding at the time so figured “eh, we’ll get some teams in the big cities later” and then kinda just didn’t. It’s also why Boston and Detroit have long been ignored. It wasn’t really intentional, it just kinda happened.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen a wild fox in NS but I can confirm that they definitely are here, you can hear the little buggers all the time.

Normally this would just go to the ban thread but given the circumstances I think it's best that everyone know what's going on.
 
It has unfortunately come to the attention of myself and @Acydburn that @Josh has been embezzling league funds for his own purposes. Via his access to the league PayPal he was stripping donation funds as payments for portal, forum, and domain hosting with amounts far higher than were actually needed. Because the line items were things he was paying for we had no reason, for a number of years, to think anything of it and were unaware that the costs were actually far less than what he was reimbursing himself which amounts to potentially thousands of dollars; we're still working out the total figures.
 
Obviously we are completely shocked at this behaviour and have immediately stripped Josh of his role as commissioner pending potential future legal action. We have always held firm that the league funds are used exclusively on league related activities so I am quite frankly pissed that a member of the blue team would take donation money for their own uses; whatever his excuses may be. Please be aware that we will be launching a further investigation and audit of all our costs and funds to be sure that no one else has done anything of the sort in the past.

Edit: In case any future people see the is and don’t see the date; it was purely an April Fool’s joke, Josh was in on it (in fact it was his idea) and the donation money is not only safe but audited.

This is actually something we have moved away from in a major way since retracting the E to 6 teams. Last season we had 0 inactive veteran players, this year we have two per team because the GMs voted 4-2 that they wanted them this year. I personally think we can be completely healthy with 0. 
 
The actual issue with any "delete the E talk" stems from the cap question you mention. We've been over this many times since even before the inauguration of the VHLE, but there basically has to be one of two outcomes here. 
 
Either: a)we keep cap at 400 as you suggest, but we don't think there's any appetite for brand new players to play against a good chunk of players at 300+ TPE, or b) we move the cap to 200 or 250 and the VHL supports the excess, but right now the excess is big enough to require either expansion or raising the cap, which comes with it's own issues as well. 
 
The long and short of it is as long as there is some form of recruitment effort, deleting the E would most likely require either expansion or forcing new players to play against too strong of opposition early on, neither of which have been at all appealing based on multiple discussions. 

As I work in film this has been a hot topic for the last couple of years with opinions ranging from “we’re all fucked, it’s gonna replace us all” to “it’s fucking dumb and doesn’t stand a chance in creative fields.” On the whole I fall in the middle, I think it’s a useful tool in some circumstances but people need to not trust it too much. Ultimately it is easily mistaken and fooled because it’s pulling from incomplete information. As for specifics, I think stuff like coding can benefit from it greatly because it’s the kind of thing it understands well and you can save hours of debugging. As for what it should stay out of: almost anything creative. It’s a machine, it lacks creativity. All it can do is effectively copy and steal from others and badly mimic it. Useful as a planning tool for something maybe but not as an end product.

Well I first started in S1 when no one knew anything about any of the teams and also, I’ll be honest, most of the logos were fucking terrible ripoffs. With that said Amstel had the first pick so I was quite pleased to be taken with it haha.

Another week without simming (well aside from that one day and I'm not gonna claim for that) means another week of needing to earn how the peasants regular members earn so time to spit out a bunch of random words and hope they make a coherent sentence: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you! Like the post if you got that reference 😉
 
ANYWAY if you haven't seen I have finally set a date for the zoo tycoon 2 stream. I've been avoiding doing it while the kids are around because their rooms are right above where my computer is now and they'd be in bed so I don't want to wake them up. Just so happens that I've been mostly the one travelling lately, not my wife and kids, so that timing hasn't come up. The wife is taking the kids up the Ottawa next week though so time for VHL members to become zoo animals again! Hopefully I can remember how to play again haha.
 
Kinda a rough week for Calaway and the Dragons. We have fallen out of first place in the league and I've dropped out of first in the assist and D scoring. We had to get our backup games in and oddly decided to do them when we had a lot of tough games so we'll see how it goes, hopefully things turn around. Still a great season all around, just a bit more of a dip than I would like.
 
Trivia was a bit trickier this week but I still got both answers right so clearly people continue to just complain for no reason: I continue to prove this as fact.

Another week without simming (well aside from that one day and I'm not gonna claim for that) means another week of needing to earn how the peasants regular members earn so time to spit out a bunch of random words and hope they make a coherent sentence: Nitwit!
