In those three parts, I looked at the careers thus far from Oskars Harumpf, Jerrick Poole, Lloyd Light, Mason Richardson, Tyler Cote, Sachimo Zoidberg, Thomas O'Malley, Christoph Klose, and Jody 3 Moons. It almost seems a shame for the Toronto Legion, who have the most players out of this draft that still look strong today which include Sachimo Zoidberg, Jerrick Poole, and Tyler Cote. Not did that draft have those Legion players, but there were even more. Now I will take a look at even more of the skill in my fourth entry to this series. Marcus Hurley - 25th Overall ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- This draft seems to have its fair share of steals, and Calgary's Marcus Hurley may prove to be one of them. While he has been succeeding on the Wranglers, one might be mistaken to look past this man because of the team that he plays on. Marcus Hurley was taken in the 3rd round at 25th overall in the draft, and he flew onto the scene in his first season with 85 points in Season 41. That includes his 43 goals and 68 shots blocked, which is stellar for any rookie at the VHL level. Marcus showed in his first season that he is a balanced two-way player who can carry a team. In the playoffs of S41, Hurley had 8 points in Calgary's 5 game defeat to the Quebec City Meute. The next season, the Wranglers were a weaker team and it reflected in Hurley's numbers. Marcus Hurley scored 34 goals and had 74 points in Season 42, and was a -54 in the plus/minus column. Calgary failed to make the post-season which was unfortunate for Hurley. In Season 43, Marcus scored 31 goals and added 31 assists to give himself 62 points on the season, going on a steady decline in production season after season. At this point, the Wranglers can only get stronger, and with Hans Wingate in net, Hurley seems poised to have betters seasons ahead of him. Kurtis Hunter - 11th Overall ----------------------------------- ----------------------------------- Next up we take a look at a man who was drafted to HC Davos, at 11th overall in this draft. This right winger scored 42 goals in his rookie campaign and put up 87 points. In his sophomore season, he then scored 26 goals while putting up 62 points. He went from a -42 in S41 to a -8 in S42, which is a huge climb plus/minus-wise but he fell short of his scoring milestones by quite a large margin. This past season, he put up even less in the points column with 24 goals and 50 points, although this was on a much stronger Davos squad ready to make their mark in the playoffs. In S41 and 42, the Dynamo failed to make the post-season, but they qualified in S43 putting a more balanced roster forward, where Hunter slid down the depth chart, but still has respectable numbers. In the post-season, Kurtis led his team with 4 points in 6 games, but that was all she wrote and their season was capped off at that. Heading into next season, Kurtis Hunter will be looking to get back to the progress he was making in his rookie season. Vladamir Komarov - 8th Overall ----------------------------------- ----------------------------------- There are many defensemen in the league who are good at what they do, and who the Dynamo selected at 8th overall is one of them. Vladamir Komarov has been a force on the ice and one of the best shot blockers in the league consistently over the seasons. In his rookie Season 41, he had 4 goals and 39 points, although on a rebuilding HC Davos squad, leaving him at a -54. He did also have 210 hits and 145 blocked shots however. In Season 42, his production would fall and he would only score 2 goals and have 22 points, and be a -13. He would still post great hitting and shot blocking numbers with 222 and 132, respectively. In his next season, a season in which both star defenders Don Draper and Mason Richardson were on the team, his numbers would rise. In this past season of 43, he would have 20 goals and 60 points, both milestones in his career. He also posted 204 hits and had 112 blocked shots, remaining as one of the better physical defensemen in the VHL. In his first post-season this year, he only managed 1 assist in 6 games and was a -7, putting forward a disappointing playoffs effort, but you can say that about much of the HC Dynamo in the playoffs this season.
