  1. I expected as much. It's good that it took me 84 editions to finally get a 5. Thanks for the fair grade Flyersfan, keeps me honest.
  2. I'm still trucking, but with my roommates selling this house and moving into another I have a bunch of other work I've been doing. I beat Anor Londo bosses finally, and then went and beat the Ceaseless Desist and am working my way through some of the demon ruin stuff. I can't believe Capra Demon which was such a frustrating boss (mostly because of location) turns into a regular enemy in the demon ruins. Crazy stuff.
  3. Eh I'd argue it's a big enough difference to talk about. Nabokov isn't the same player he was many seasons ago. The current play of Nabokov is not as consistent or reliable or quite frankly not as good as Halak. I've seen Halak play in Washington, St Louis, and Montreal. Other than the occasional off game the majority of the time when his team has lost it's been the fault of the team, not him. That is not something you can say for Nabby lately.
  4. Before his prime? This is Jones fifth season in the league. The last three seasons all of which include depreciation do not = a players prime.
  5. Are you sure you read my posts correctly? I never said he wasn't a good goalie. Capable NHL starter = good goalie. His run with the Habs that playoffs was good but he hasn't matched it in the playoffs or regular season since. That happens with NHL starting goalies. Ergo, he isn't elite.
  6. Starlord. Space bounty hunters for the fucking win.
  7. Define "bad." St Louis replaced Halak because they wanted more than a capable NHL starter who can sometimes be on at the right time and steal you some playoff games. They wanted a goalie who is elite and can steal playoff series. They thought they were going to get that from Miller and didn't. Halak = Jimmy Howard. He's a capable NHL starter...he's decently consistent and he'll bring stability to the Islanders in goal which is something they haven't had in forever.
  8. Hello all. In an effort to continue to evolve the Pajodcast we have some changes incoming for the next few weeks. One of those changes is going to be rotating segments that more or less do similar things to some of our others. In an effort to keep user interactivity around, I decided that having a show now or there where we take questions wouldn't be a bad idea. So I'll explain how this will work. As opposed to just "asking for questions" one week and seeing how many we get, this thread is going to act like an entire database of questions. On a week when we run the questions segment, we will come into the database and answer some. So if your question is specific to something currently going on and can't be answered on a later week make note of that and when we do get it we'll try to do so as quickly as we can. Also keep in mind that this segment may not run on every single week of the Pajodcast. As such, questions that could be answered a few weeks down the road are more encourage. Okay VHL, go ahead and ask away. I'd prefer that you at least post a question per person on the Pajodcast, that being one for Jericho, one for Advantage and one for myself but I think any questions will do. A global question for all of us to answer works as well.
  9. Yeah none of the records have been updated past like Season 32.
  10. Jericho and Chris are convinced its the childish stuff that people enjoy so this at least helps give me more ammo. Please any others against the nonsense speak up.
  11. http://www68.zippyshare.com/v/79277890/file.html Usual cast joins me and we talk about the start of the season, get into the crazyness of goalies thus far and some of those usual sim segments. We also take a look at several suggestions/ideas proposed to make the league better the last week. We do some award ballot predictions, broadening it out to give more people some love. I then hit a boiling point and get a little frustrated, but somehow I calm down and we soldier on through Pajodtasks and other nonsense.
  12. We already grill some GM's regarding "fair trades." Or understanding value. A GM could make a bad deal and then try to argue they thought they were making a good deal, or that it was the right move for their team. That move could of course benefit the team their player is on, or vice versa. A GM could trade his player for high value, then instantly retire him or go inactive screwing with the team he traded his player to and manipulating the rule in their favour. In heads up match up as well there is also line combinations that could be tampered with that could manipulate the match up. Ultimately the GM could work with another GM to stack a roster even if a player isn't interested. Like say signing free agents and trading them only to the team his player is on for a chance to win, regardless of other offers on the table. Honestly there is probably even more that I'm not thinking of at the moment. There is tons of room for abuse. While you certainly could implement rules and asterix and hire someone to monitor and doll out punishment. But that is a ton of extra work to manage a situation that we already have managed right now.
  13. Few would argue that on paper Remy LeBeau is one of if not the best goalie in the entire VHL. Whether it is resume, career stats, awards, even his steady style of play. Remy has been the franchise face of the Toronto Legion for the past 7 seasons. The Two Time Shaw winner recently achieved his near career quest to carry Toronto to a Continental Cup in a four game sweep of the Davos Dynamo. The question for Remy and for Toronto following the epic celebration was, what is next? Remy's god like performance in the playoffs aside, there is no doubt his consistency was showing some shaky signs. Currently LeBeau sits with a 0.877 save percentage a 3.28 goals against average in 7 games this season. While 5 of those games have been wins, he has been letting in goals at an alarming high rate this season. The Legion offense has bailed Remy out for the majority of the early parts of this season. Despite this however the fan support and respect for Remy has not wavered. Analysts compare this to the wave of support legendary NHL goalie Martin Brodeur faced in the later stages of his career. Regardless of how well he was currently playing, players fans and teams alike all showed the utmost respect for "Marty." They all knew he was capable of standing on his head on any given night, and besides that what he had accomplished stood the test of time. Season 38 is going to mark the final year in a glorious career for Remy LeBeau. It may also mark one of his worst statistical seasons. However none of it should downplay the rest of his accomplishments. Ultimately Remy has nothing left to prove in the VHL and Season 38 should serve as a great farewell tour for the future VHL Hall of Famer.
  14. I think your ideas are sound Molholt and to be completely honest I don't think many people would exploit it if they were able to GM a team and have their player on another. But to me it's about a principle. You don't structure the rules in a way that a conflict of interest could potentially exist or come up. Even if you hope and assume that the majority of the league won't abuse it, the fact that it COULD happen under that rule set when in reality it isn't that big of a deal to have a GM player be on the GM team. Specifically since VHL GM's with the exception of a few swap out at a decent enough time frame as it is. They create their players to fit in with the rebuild, and fit in with the core of their teams in most cases. Keep in mind we aren't in a time were a team competes for a few seasons and then rebuilds either. Cologne was a re-tooling/trying to compete team every since they joined the league. Quebec as well. Both teams felt the blows of expansion depth but slowly became playoff teams and only now recently have rebuilt. That is 8 seasons. New York before Chri's recent rebuilt went 11 seasons of playoff action. Davos has been a top team for like 3-4 seasons now. Teams don't cycle as often in the VHL as they used to due to the sheer number of quality players we have. Literally a GM has to suffer one maybe two bad seasons with a team now, if that. Even Calgary/Helsinki are coming out of rebuild with somewhat competitive teams right now, and aren't just pushovers.
  15. Wow. I'm hoping that the Habs use this news to pull together for Carey and get this team to the finals so he can come back and help them to a Cup. Awful news.
  16. That intro...sounds eerily like something I recorded...
  17. Logan Laich had a 2 point game? Say it aint so! Way to go Wahl, you looked good on your first start of the year!
  18. Devise wakes up at 1 am, then decides at 6 am to drink an entire bottle of wine in the span of like an hour and a half. SMART DECISIONS!
  19. EASTERN CONFERENCE Montreal vs. New York Winner: Montreal # of Games: 7 WESTERN CONFERENCE Chicago vs. Los Angeles Winner: LA # of Games: 7
  20. Kings beat the Quacks, oh yes! Although I knew it'd happen. Choke job by the Ducks in Game 7. BB is their coach, he can't get past the second round. Haven't people learned yet that offensive minded teams that have zero adaptability and can't play tough aren't playoff teams? Say what you will about the Habs but they play tough defense and sacrifice to high hell and don't just rely on all out "we can score" strategies.
  21. Get used to it, your on a rebuilding team. You'd rather face more anyway, if you can play as solid as you have been gives you better stats and an argument for ROTY.
  22. I'm actually surprised by this. Figured until they were traded the last of the Valiq and Clifford could at least help Quebec get a few wins....
