1. We don’t have to. We are a young group of guys on a brand new team and we’re all having a good start considering the team. 2. Letterkenny. 3. Well I would like to but in the end the fact that I’m even top 3 is amazing I’m happy with my start. 4. Doesn’t matter to me I’m not looking for the outcome I’m looking at how we play. 5. Don’t have one. Mostly country 6. My line mates easily my favourite guys

Squirrley Dan: Expansion Draft Hello everyone! were back with Squirrley Dan of the Chicago Phoenix! So Dan, what was your reaction to being picked in the expansion? Well just before the draft I was thinking to myself "there is a very good chance I wont be in Vancouver" Then the day of the draft I had a GM reach out to me and tell me that i was on their draft board. So thats when i knew i wouldn't get my chance to play for the wolves. When i was picked by the Phoenix I was actually pretty happy because it meant i got to stay in North America. Obviously being on an expansion team the expectations aren't very high, what are your expectations this season? are you hoping to get the C? my expectations for this season aren't high at all as long as we arent blown out every game im happy. As for the captaincy.. I dont see my self getting it especially not year one. Im still a rookie even on a new team I'm not the leader. Maybe in the future. With you being on an expiring contract is there any talks of a extension? or do you plan on going somewhere else? Well no talks yet but If I have the option to stay here which I'm almost certain I will, I'll be in Chicago for a while. I don't see myself moving unless its via a trade. Do you have any desire to go back to Canada? That's always going to be in the back of my mind, but I like the guys we have and im a fan of the prospects in the teams system. We have a good future in Chicago so I'm happy to stay. I want to put up good numbers obviously but In the end as long as I'm not horrible its fine. With this team I will be getting lots of minutes that's something i wouldn't be able to do in Vancouver so i am happy about that. Did you know what team would take you during the draft or was it a shock? Actually I thought i knew what team would take me, when i saw my name beside the Phoenix logo i was really shocked. Honestly I was hoping for Chicago or the stars. There is something about the Stars Logo and color scheme i just love. Any chance you sign in LA this offseason? Oh i doubt it Chicago drafted me I'll stay. We've got a young group of guys, even though i dont see myself as a leader in the locker room i hope to lead these guys on the ice this season. With the season just one day away how are you feeling about it? Are you nervous to make your VHL debut? Well yeah I am nervous but at the same time ive got a group of guys that aren't exactly "grizzled vets" themselves. I'm excited to get my first game under my belt and hopefully my first point. Well I think you'll do just fine, and you have a bright future in the VHL Yeah i think so to. I've got to get back to work preparing for tomorrow thanks for havin me. Sportsnet590 With the Minnesota Storm being eliminated in 6 to the Mexico City kings we’re here with the storms captain Squirrley Dan. What are your thoughts right now? well obviously I’m very disappointed I thought we had the team to do it. But we didn’t show up, and that’s not me throwing anyone under the bus we had a good group of guys and not one of us took over and led the team. We came into this playoffs thinking we were the team to beat. I believe we were and that just means Mexico gave a better effort what did you think of Mcpines performance? Well obviously he won us a few games but we didn’t really help him out. He made the saves he had to but we weren’t there to help him. so with three straight years of post season hockey how does it feel not making it farther then the second round? Well obviously it’s a piss off. Every player wants to win a cup but I would’ve liked to win one In both leagues. Sure I put up the points but it really meant absolutely nothing. Right now my focus is succeeding In the VHL. I’m looking to make an immediate impact on the roster. what are your thoughts on the recent expansion? Well I think it’s great for the league I’d love to play for an expansion team but honestly I’m happy to be in Vancouver. I think the league should really expand more if I’m being honest. Since I’ve been a fan of hockey I’ve wanted to see a team in Montreal. What’s your opinion on the expansion teams? I think the LA stars are my favourite. They’ve got a beautiful logo. I really like the colours too. I’m not sold on Chicago. I was never a fan of the name Phoenix not sure why. The London unites are easily second best colour scheme is great the logo is just gorgeous and the name is clever. My least favourite by default is Warsaw. No clue where Warsaw is so I can’t really give my opinion. I think the logo is nice and it goes with the name. With your team out of the playoffs who do you think is the front runner? So before the playoffs started we thought philly was our biggest contender. So I don’t know. I can see Mexico winning if not Philly. So what are your immediate goals with Vancouver this coming season? Well like I said before I want to make an immediate impact. If I can’t put up the points then I want to improve my game defensively. I want to help my team anyway I can. Any line I play on I’m going to make an impact. I’m the rookie so i know I have to earn my spot, I’m not expecting ice time right away. Hey happy to be here and just call me dan l, everyone does. Well sure thing we’re happy to have you Dan. So, how do you feel your season as gone this year? Well obviously we’re the top team in the league this year, we’ve got a great group of guys that just want to win. How has this team gotten better from last year? Well for to start we’ve all had another year of growth, we all have gotten better and I think that’s a huge part of it. Forwards defence and goalies have all taken huge strides to improve their game and I think it’s all just starting to come together. I’m sure your leadership has something to do with it right? You were with the storm last year and they obviously liked what they saw and have you the C. Haha yeah I’m very happy to be the captain for this great organization. When they first told me I was going to be captain I felt honoured to be even considered for the roll. Now Dan before the season started their was speculation you would be playing with Vancouver was there any truth to that? Well obviously it was a possibility but, I really didn’t think I was ready and there wasn’t really any talk of me making the jump. I’m happy to stay in Minnesota. With your team securing a playoff spot is there any talk of easing of the gas in games? No, none at all we all know not to get to complacent. Playoffs are a completely different beast. Now I’m really superstitious so I won’t really go into it. thats a great lead into my next question, what are your biggest superstition’s? Well everyone has the stick tape one. I always tape my stick before every game. I always have to be the first one on the ice for warmup and the start of the game, obviously after the tendy. Even if I’m not starting which I usually do I have to be first on. That’s been my biggest one since my highschool days. Ah yes your highschool days, you opted not to play highschool hockey right? Yeah I didn’t see myself getting to the VHL that way so when I was drafted by the Titan I decided I would play their, it was probably the best decision I could’ve made. Any reason you chose the CHL instead of Europe or the U.S? It all came down to staying close to home. Did that influence your decision with your first contract? Yea of course it did, When Mexico offered me a contract I was happy to have an offer from a western team. Not to mention it was my only offer, but yeah I want to stay in North America for my career. Obviously if I’m forced into Europe I’ll go play but I want to stay near home. So how happy were you on draft day? Which one? Both my draft days were very close together. When I was drafted my Vancouver I couldn’t have been more happier, not only was I staying in North America I got to stay in Canada. When the Storm drafted me I was happy I would get to play for a organization with a history in the league. You were drafted after the first round for both drafts was there any disappointments with that? No I was disappointed for a second, being drafted just meant I made it. It meant I finally made it to the big leagues. Unless your touted as the number 1 prospect I don’t think anyone really thinks about their position.
