  1. Trucker here… I have to back into my spot.
  2. Uncapped TPE Package - 4 TPE 1/5
  3. The Toronto Legion have begun to reap the benefits of drafting strong, reliable prospects; Mac Atlas leads the team with 20 points, and despite Jimi Jaks unbelievably bad shooting luck, they've still put up ten points in the twenty three games they have dressed for. Had Jaks' shooting percentage been similar to Atlas' 7.35% -- whom has scored ten goals this season so far -- Jaks would have roughly six (rounded) goals by now. Those additional goals would propel the S87 prospect from 10 points to 16, enough to tie Peace for second place in team scoring. Those goals would have also propelled Jaks above Peace's current output, indicative that the time for Toronto's youth is now. The future for the Legion is bright; a core is already in development: S86 - Joe Castle S87 - Mac Atlas S87 - Jimi Jaks S88 - Bobby Bob The four prospects above have created a core for the Legion to build around, who have their natural first round pick (thus a high one for the next draft) and numerous second round selections. There is a great opportunity for the Legion to build upon the blocks they've already put down. Stay the path, Toronto, stay the path.
  4. Toronto, Ontario Canada The career of Kyle Peace can be summarized with three short words: Well that sucked. Three more could be said about this article: Player store purchases... Peace's first three seasons showcased a young player with major offensive potential, which obviously blossomed alongside then Legion Matty Fire, but his promising start eventually faded into mediocrity as both his motivation and performance took direct hits from multiple angles; the team was plagued by prospect drama that created conflict, stressed senior leadership lead to reduced motivation, and a souring reputation left the player and his player agency 'fed up' with entitlement, disloyalty, ostracism and an increasingly childish exterior mentality. As the club entered another rebuild phase following a disappointing S84 post season exit, Peace elected to stay with the Legion in pursuit of an accomplishment he - at the time - could have reasonably reached with the roster build around him. His goal was to become the Legions' top goalscoring player, chasing a record held by Zach Parechkin for far too long. It was a reasonable objective that allowed the player agency to request an honorary no-trade agreement between different leaderships, but forty goals in sixty two games is highly unlikely. The next step is for the Legion could be finally trade Peace to any team interested in his services, but that's now outside his or his player agencies jurisdiction. There is one thing Kyle won't allow that he can rightfully control, and that's letting twenty six million dollars of league money evaporate in just a few short months. The time is now to restore whatever little there is to restore, and the motivation behind it is quite simple: the player agency recently had a player inducted into the VHL's hall of fame, so in an effort to generate some internal pressure on Kyle, the agency has requested a little more effort from their current player. "The goal is to finish at a point per game," Kyle admitted. "It was kinda defeating watching my games played get higher than my points scored. It's a little selfish, sure, but it's an internal goal and one I'll be open about for the rest of my career. There's no point in hiding my objective to the league, no point in being shy about it either. I'm gone at the end of the season anyway, off to - I dunno - golf or whatever it is other former players do with their time." Kyle's recent purchase activity suggests that he'll be training for the inevitable: - Two Free Weeks - Two PT Double Weeks - One Full Double Weeks - Uncapped TPE Package (4 x 5) The sudden effort won't make a great dent in Peace's ability to play the sport, but the above training regime should produce a moderately improved player directly compared to his current abilities and skill. He won't be a significantly altered player, frankly that boat has firmly sailed (I tried to buy a TPE reroll) but there is still time to slow the clock. Scouts decreased his overall attribute rating by 174 earlier in the offseason and Kyle has the ability to quickly regain that lost form. What were trying to say is S87 Peace is still there, hiding in plain sight, he just needs a clear the cobwebs and maaaaybe he can finish his career at (or above) a point per game.

Tyler Busser was a solid pick when it was made, but the user was involved in some drama and retired from the league after being stripped from his VHLM GM role (IIRC). But go back to that draft... active VHLM GM, solid TPE earner, wanted to play for Toronto and despite being a S84 player he still retired with nearly 700 TPE in 85. Just bad pick luck at the tail end of my tenure with Toronto and during Dooms tenure as the GM. Nothing you can really do to predict a user will implode the way they do sometimes.
  7. Juuuuust when the ladder can't reach anymore, that way you know you've 100% fucked yourself.
  8. You're failing to understand what the mods are requesting from you then; this isn't going your way.
  9. Sounds like an excuse. You're posting on the forum, you can download Discord to prove it once and for all. "I can't" for a program designed for mobile, desktop and browsers leaves you with no options.
  10. Nice list! I'm very fond of a few titles that you've mentioned, but I'm curious how it'll compare to my own favorite titles between 2000 - 2021; using the same rules and conditions you had for your list, I've plugged in my own [with less than a third the effort you had] just to compare between our tastes in games! 2000: You had Paper Mario, but I'm going with Perfect Dark here. Goldeneye may have revolutionized first person shooters like DOOM did back in the day, but it was Perfect Dark that perfected them with a more advanced engine and features still used in modern shooters to this day. If I had to nominate a runner up, I'd be hard pressed not to give it to Dues Ex, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 or Spyro: Year of the Dragon. I think it is only fair to rate the games I was able to play, so some of the more successful titles from 2000 won't make my list unfortunately. 2001: It's Halo: Combat Evolved and everyone knows it... or at least it should be; similar to Perfect Dark, Halo: CE raised the standards for first person visuals, gameplay fluidity and accessibility by having quality gameplay on a far more limited console. Bungie wound up proving an entire industry standard wrong, something that we certainly took for granted through the Xbox/Playstation 2 and Xbox 360/Playstation 3 era. 2002: At this point my uncle had moved out of my moms house, taking his Xbox with him and leaving my kid-self with nothing more than the relatively new Gamecube, which I believe I still have somewhere in storage to this day... you want with Serious Sam for the Xbox, sadly I never got a chance to play this title, so I'm going to have to give it to the Gamecube game that entertained me for hours upon hours well after my mom had gone to bed and after I snuck into the living room to play it: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. 2003: You chose Mario Kart, but I have to give this one to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I didn't get to play it often, in fact I only got to play it when I was visiting my uncle, but I remember my vivid imagination going wild for hours after I got off [read: forced off by my uncle so he could play it]. No other game but Halo: Combat Evolved and later Halo 2 led to my youthful adventures outside with a light sabre or cap gun pretending to slay Sith or slaughter the Covenant. Good times. 2004: Halo 2, hands down. I needn't say more. 2005: As a kid my mom refused to buy Resident Evil for me, so I was never able to play RE:4 until I eventually purchased it well into my teenage years for myself. What my mom did surprise me with, however, was my uncles Xbox as he had already purchased a Xbox 360 for himself on its release day. My mom wound up buying his Xbox for pennies, it was essentially a gift from my uncle, but damn Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was hell of a fun time. Yep, that's right, my mom would let me play GTA:SA but not RE:4 because every time she'd walk into the room I'd stop murdering half naked er... workers, and start driving around the city as if it was a racing sim or a half baked flight simulator. Only later did she realize what it really was about, and oooooh by was I in trouble then. 2006: I'm just about to enter my teenage years in 2006, but my mom had cracked down on violent video games, but then again the Xbox had become a forgotten relic after the release of the Xbox 360. The only time I got to experience new games was when we visited my uncle [who had moved in with my grandma due to her deteriorating health] and his 'next gen' console. I'd play the new games, but honestly they're all pretty forgettable as I never got to play Gears of War or Oblivion. My uncle didn't want me ruining his saves, but what I was allowed to play was Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and that pretty much sealed my love for that franchise. 2007: My mom bought a Xbox 360 for my brother and I for Christmas and it came with Halo 3, Oblivion [a game I never go to play at my uncles house] and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I really wanted to give this to Halo 3 since its a childhood memory, but I played the living hell out of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and I credit COD4 as a key piece of my development that was eventually fully realized later on. 2008: I'm going with a game I felt was truly underrated here... Army of Two, although I spent most of 2008 playing COD4 and Halo 3 so it didn't really matter anyway. 2009: Modern Warfare 2 was pre-ordered a day or two after preorders were available, I picked it up on my brothers birthday and hogged it from him and I still don't feel bad about it. Modern Warfare 2 was the game my younger brother and I went nearly pro at, every gamebattle or fragnation team we were on usually placed top five in tournament ladders and we both would have won major money had we been above the minimum age to receive it. Teams we played on would end up winning numerous tournaments. Oh how I wish I still had the reflexes and eyesight of teenage me... 2010: Most of 2010 was slaying nerds on Modern Warfare 2, but there was this neat little game that came out I got addicted too... Mass Effect 2. 2011: Hello, Skyrim... how are you doing, you old classic? 2012: At this point my 'prime' was ending, I had fallen away from the competitive Call of Duty scene in favor of more cinematic story driven games. Mass Effect 3 was my most played game of 2012, I had many many hours and playthroughs trying all the different paths you could take. 2013: In 2014 I started getting back into the competitive FPS scene, although instead of Call of Duty it was Battlefield 4 -- which was released late 2013 -- with modes such as Defuse and Team Deathmatch being introduced, so I have to pick Battlefield 4 for 2013 releases. BF4 didn't have very lucrative competitive scene, but my buddy and I built one of the largest Xbox One platoons to have ever existed. No, I'm not tooting my own horn [okay, I am a little...] and fibbing; six dedicated servers for the platoon, three individual platoons for everyone [they had a max of 100 people] and two competitive rosters that frequently skirmished against one another. To make our competitive roster you had to have a minimum of a 2.50 K/D and a SPM over 1,000; we had two of those, and we dominated Team Deathmatch and Defuse ladders for quite some time. We also had a website with a purchased domain, a full fledged rank system based on the US Marines paygrade structure and more. 2014: BF4 occupied my time, but 2014 also gave me... Alien Isolation! 2015: I abandoned my Xbox One in exchange for a PC and a Blue Yeti, I started streaming War Thunder and consequentially my skill at console FPS absolutely tanked. I realized my time as a competitive reactive player in almost any shooter was long over, although surprisingly none of the games I remember from 2015 were actually released in 2015. The game I did play that was released in 2015 was your victor: Black Ops III, but I can safely state I absolutely hated that game. No other games from 2015 were memorable enough to even mention, and I've yet to play the Witcher series. 2016: What a disappointing year 2016 was for me, but there was one gem: Dues Ex: Mankind Divided, I've desperately wanted a new Dues Ex game but here we are in 2022 and nothing. 2017: Horizon: Zero Dawn, hands down. 2018: It was Far Cry 5 all the way up until Red Dead Redemption 2. 2019: I agree with Metro: Exodus, it was an amazing experience and a wonderful game. 2020: A lot of people disliked it, but I gotta go with Last of Us Part II. 2021: I haven't really played a game I overly enjoyed in 2021, so I'll give it to Halo: Infinite's campaign despite some of the developers late campaign story decisions.
  11. I hate to be that guy but I don't think @Alex knows. Lemiuex already had an inactive player swap once.
  12. I congratulated Dooms in private as I handed him the keys to Toronto's discord LR, but I'd like to take a moment to applaud the selection of @InstantRockstar! Congrats on a VHL team, bud. It's been a while since we worked together at the management level [and unfortunately this opportunity slides through the cracks again] but I still recall the warm discussions we've had in the past when we were both VHLM GMs. I think you'll make a fine VHL GM in our modern era, good luck and I'm glad to see you finally taking the reigns of a VHL flagship team.
  13. Hopefully this new hybrid system means it's the last time.
  14. S76, maybe you can argue Chicago was 'abusing' 40/99 with four, falling to three beyond 76. But you went full blown abuse. S80? Seven 40/99 but essentially eight (40/98). S81? Six 40/99. S82? Five 40/99 but essentially six (48/99). Chicago in 76? Three 40/99 with a close 40/97. Malmo in 76? Zero, but one close at 50/99. Warsaw in 76? Two 40/99, one close at 40/97. Chicago in 77? Three. Malmo in 77? Zero. Warsaw in 77? Three. Chicago in 78? Two. Malmo in 78? One. Warsaw in 78? Three. Chicago in 79? One. Malmo in 79? One. Warsaw in 79? Two. Oh yeah they totally abused it like you did. Totally.
  15. Nah, he can still claim that. Vancouver's lack of integrity by intentionally abusing a system known to break the engine -- something other GMs knew but didn't widely exploit -- will be a significant blight in this leagues' history. "Spirit of competition" should have gone both ways!
  16. 1. The trade deadline came and went rather quietly in Toronto this season. Slow market, or show in faith with the roster currently assembled? I think this deadline was clouded by the situation in Ukraine. It was for me at least, but I didn't want to mess around with the roster too much and leave that to whomever will take the reigns. 2. Today was the first day for Season 84 prospects to create, which one do you see being the top pick when that draft comes along? One of the greatest things about not being invested as a GM anymore is not worrying about which recreate will be the top recreate. 3. Which one do you think has the most clever or funny name? I haven't looked at the S84 prospect pool yet. 4. Matty Fire @MattyFired has 290 career points, and he hasn't even played three full seasons yet! With six full seasons to go, how high will his career total get? He now has 300, so I'm guessing he'll be around 800. 5. What's something awesome going on with you right now? Eh, I'm going to skip this question. It's been pretty shitty lately. 6. If you could change any VHL player's name, who would it be and what would you change it to? Literally any of the dumb names. lol
  17. I'm just built different. For real though, I don't rate games on nostalgia. I've gone back to 'favorite games' like Wolfenstein 3D and the OG DooM and have been disappointed in myself because I ruined memories; put bluntly, the games weren't as good as I remembered them being. I'd rather go by what I know I actually enjoy, games that I can replay because the story is great or the content is satisfying.
  18. Wait... are you saying the older you are, the more dated your favorite games should be?
  19. Russia is claiming that Ukraine's air defenses have been neutralized, yet Ukraine is claiming an additional 4 Russian jets and an attack helicopter have been destroyed. They may be reduced to MPADS now, but it's more likely some air defense platforms are still operational.
  20. Ukrainian Air Defense just neutralized a Russian fighter jet.
  21. Ukraine police in all major cities are informing citizens to find shelter underground. Loudspeakers in Kyiv clearly broadcast the warning.
  22. There's two ways to look at this. If Russia wanted to annex Ukraine without nuclear ordinance being used, threatening nuclear warfare is mostly a bluff [psychological warfare] as the consequences is -- at worst -- mutually assured destruction of two global superpowers with more than enough nukes to irradiate the globe. The second way to look at this is... if it devolves into nuclear warfare you'll likely only see a few missiles used before hostilities end completely. Drop a nuke on Moscow [as the seat of the Russian Government] will in turn result in the nuclear hit of Washington [seat of US Government]. Beyond that it'll just be whomever survives wondering what the fuck to do next, but the massive reality of nukes being deployed would set in and could lead to a more effective nuclear deterrent as both sides realize they'd just be dead in the end.
  23. Oh I know. Afghanistan and Iraq were different types of warfare too. Fighting insurgents was unconventional, ISAF members had to adjust tactics to weed out the insurgents after the conventional way just meant they'd retreat beyond the borders practically every time. A fight between Russia and the US would be conventional, you'd have M1A2's fighting T-80's, you'd have infantrymen with 5.56 firing at Russians with 5.45, you'd have F-16s dogfighting Flankers in the air. A much different war than what veterans experienced in Iraq or Afghanistan. In a way the more conventional warfare is the less extreme horrors you'd see compared to an entirely unconventional enemy like the Vietcong or Taliban insurgents... 'Over there' doesn't just describe a mount of dirt you've got no idea why you're protecting, it also describes how vile the people you fought were. Riles me up just thinking about it. Air raid sirens going on in Kyiv and people are just "Fuck it, I've heard it before. I'mma just go to work." or trying to leave the city. Yeah, I think they're either done with Ukraine's conflicts or trying to get into the country side.
