  1. 1. Las Vegas is 1st in the Western Conference! What has been a reason to our success? Just our great players being great. We have some of the highest scoring individuals in the league on our team and if they keep up their success the team will surely continue to do good as well. 2. Is our success temporary or will we be a competitive team all season? As long as our top players continue to put in the work and keep trying to be the best they can every week I don't see any reason why we cant make a strong push for the cup this year. We have the talent to be competitive all year, its just about translating talent into production! 3. Who has been the MVP of our team so far? I'd have to say Alex, he's been racking up the assists left and right. Makes it really easy for me and everyone else to put the puck into the back of the goal. He makes the whole offense click. 4. How has your player been performing? I'd like to think I'm performing at a high-level. I'm currently in the top 10 for points in the league, top-5 for goals scored in the league and I lead the league in Power Play goals. I'm the queen of the power play 5. How has your time in the VHLM been so far? I've really enjoyed it, I had a blast playing with the bulls last season. This season in Vegas has been an absolute beauty so far! We're tops in the league, I'm partying all the time cause it Vegas, and I'm playing the best hockey of my young career! What more could a girl want? 6. Is their any way that myself or the AGM can make your VHLM experience better? I think you guys are doing just peachy! Keep up the good work, and lets go win a championship!!
  2. 1. The VHL/E/M all have drafts coming up this week, are you excited for some #drafthype? Of course!! Draft season is always exciting, finding out where you'll be spending the upcoming seasons is such a thrill!!! 2. What was your reaction when your player was drafted? I was super excited, Houston is a great organization and they were really great during my first season in the VHLM. Now that I'm on Vegas I'm looking forward to welcoming the rookies and helping them along!! 3. After the VHLM, where do you see your player going? I'd like to spend a few seasons in the VHLE before making the move up to the big time. I've been drafted by DC which is amazing cause the Dragons have a great GM and a fun culture. 4. How do you think Las Vegas will perform this season (S81)? With the current roster construction, winning the the championship is gonna be a real struggle if I'm honest. We have a serious gap in the defense. Hopefully after the VHLM draft we can reassess and have more confidence in the team. 5. What's your favourite food? Pho, its without a doubt the best food in the world. Especially in the winter, pho will warm you up on a cold night! 6. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be? Probably Japan, its super fun there! I really like being up in the mountains in Hokkaido.
  3. Great way to close out a career! Thanks to all the organizations I've had the pleasure to call home!!!

  9. HJK on Making Improvements & More!! Seoul - Han Jae-kuk recently made a trip to Seoul while his VHL team the Seattle Bears had a few days off. During this trip HJK visited family, checked in on some businesses he had invested in, and did a couple interviews with local media (Including us!). Jae-kuk has become quite the popular figure in Korea, as he is one of the biggest hockey stars to come out of the nation in quite a long time. His fanfare has also spilled over to the Seattle Bears, who have become the most supported team in Korea according to polls and jersey sales. With his star continuing to grow as he gets more minutes in a Bears jersey, the expectations on him grow too. Being a national icon is stressful, especially when you’re an athlete because the expectations to win grow as your fame does. Seattle has done well this season, positioning themselves to comfortably make the play-offs but they are far from being considered top contenders. Meanwhile, HJK has dazzled on the defensive end of the ice, showing everyone why he was brought to the team but the offensive side of his game has been lacking. Sources inside the Bears confirm that the Seattle front office has pushed HJK to improve on his offensive game in order to help him be a better player and also provide more to the team. With the stress mounting and the playoffs coming fast we sat down to talk to our young star to get his thoughts on everything: “Well, you know it's definitely a lot of pressure, but I'm honored more than anything that so many people in Korea look up to me, and see me as someone worthy of praise. The pressure doesn’t bother me anyway, it never has, it just pushes me to be better and perform at a higher level. Also having the backing of my home nation is comforting, it's nice to know that I have that support. Plus the Bears are happy about it too, they have brought in so many new fans and revenue because Korea haha. Anyway, yeah I think we’re all on the same page, every person in the organization and the fans, we all want to win. I know we haven’t performed as well as we possibly could have this season, we had some ups and downs. However, I think you’re going to see a different team in the playoffs. Once the post-season comes around it's like a switch is flipped and our guys go into overdrive. The playoffs are a different beast, and we’ll be a different Bears team. We’re ready and excited, I think we could make some noise in the playoffs! Oh and yes, to address the stuff about me improving my offensive game. I’m always looking to better myself, and help the team in any way I can. The coaches came to me and suggested I put more effort into polishing up my play on the offensive end, since my defense has been solid this season. So, I’ve been working really hard in practice on putting the puck in the net, and finding those high-danger passes. It’s a work in progress but I think you guys will see a better version of me because of this. Uhh, that's all I have today, thanks for listening and thanks for supporting me! It was a pleasure and I’ll see you guys later. " HJK has confirmed that he will be working on his offensive game. It’s something you like to see in a young player, that ability to take criticism and suggestions and put it into practice. Him and the Bears certainly have a bright future. However, it remains to be seen what the team can accomplish this season. Only time will tell us that answer. Until then, stay safe and GO BEARS!!!!

  11. 1. We're a good bit into the season now, who do you think is the league MVP frontrunner as of now? 2. What team has surprised you the most so far this season? 3. How are you feeling about the season so far? Management is happy, but as a player whats your opinion on Toronto's performance thus far? 4. Other than Toronto, which city is your favorite to play in, why? 5. We value our players here in Toronto, what improvements would you like to see from the organization? This could be related to anything, locker room, team composition etc. 6. The holidays are just around the corner. How do you plan to celebrate, if at all?
  12. Seattle Off to Hot Start with HJK Seoul - Seattle is back to being one of the hottest teams in the VHL. After a disappointing playoff exit last season the Bears have started this season strong with a 6-1 record. With the front office working their magic to reload after losing some top talent to retirement, Seattle has started better than anyone could have imagined. What's even more surprising is the performance of their relatively young defensive group. Rookie Lucifer Olivier Leveque has started his big league career off with a bang, grabbing 7 points in 7 games. Meanwhile second year player Han Jae-kuk has matched his entire point production of last season (5 points) in just 7 games to start the year. On top of that HJK is currently top of the league in +/- with a +8. The jump from rookie to second year has been astonishing, and one of the reasons Seattle’s defense is one of the best in the league. How long Seattle can keep up their form remains to be seen, however, early season returns indicate that the Bears should be quite the formidable opponent for any team that crosses their path. To get a feel for what’s driving the Bears we sat down with our Korean wonder-kid HJK: “You know losing in the first round really left a bad taste in our mouths. Everyone in the organization felt like we were better than that, and honestly it has really pushed us forward. It was embarrassing, and we don’t want something like that to happen again so everyone on the team put in the work to improve this offseason. The front office made their moves, and we the players worked our tails off training. I can only speak for myself but I think this offseason is the most improvement I've made as a hockey player. I got to put into practice everything I had observed from the bench the last season and things really just started to click. I’m more of a defense first kinda guy so I worked really hard on my positioning, tracking the puck, and stopping break away situations. I’ll let the other defenders like Luci, who are much better going forward, handle the offensive stuff. My job is to cover them, and make our goalie work as little as possible. So far I think that's worked out this season, everyone seems to be meshing well and the team is rolling. The scary thing is that no one on this team thinks we’ve reached our best yet. We’ve got plenty of room to grow and I have no doubt that the best is yet to come.” Even though we’re only 7 games into the season right now it certainly seems Seattle is going to be a serious contender. The attitude from the team is apparently good, they seem confident. If what HJK says is true and Seattle continues to improve on their impressive form, this could be one scary team come playoff time. Only time will tell though. Until then we’ll keep you covered on all the latest news. As always, stay happy and healthy! GO BEARS!!
  13. Han Jae-Kuk speaks on Playoff Exit & More... Seoul - Han Jae-kuk and the Seattle Bears were stunned by the Toronto Legion in the playoffs and handed an early exit. After being eliminated 4-1 the Bears will undoubtedly be disappointed, but more importantly they will be undergoing some major changes on defense. The Bears two best defensemen will be moving on to greener pastures as they head into retirement, which leaves a big hole in the team to be filled by the Bears younger players. HJK and fellow former Marlin, Lucifer Olivier Leveque will most likely be relied upon to step up and perform next season. After a strong season in the VHLM Leveque will be asked to do a lot in his rookie season. Meanwhile, after mainly riding the bench and developing for Seattle this past season HJK will look to show that he is ready to step into a bigger role with the Bears. For Leveque it will be a trial by fire, for HJK it will be a thoroughly prepared ascension but both players will have lots of pressure to perform. To get a feel on how the players feel we caught up with HJK to ask him about everything: “First of all, losing in the first round of the playoffs was a huge disappointment and moving forward we have to do better. The loss of Sundqvist and Hogan will be a big loss for us, both of those guys have been rocks for Seattle for a long time and both are for sure going down as all-time greats for the Bears. Their moving on into retirement obviously opens up an opportunity for me and Luci and we're ready! I have been preparing for his moment since I was drafted by Seattle a season ago. I know I’ll have big shoes to fill but I know I can do it. As for Luci, he will be ready too, he went off in the VHLM and I think that momentum will carry over into the big leagues. We’re both really excited to play together and help take Seattle back to the championship. Right now we’re just gonna chill recuperate and then in a week or two before we head back to the facility to prep for next season. I’ll be visiting my family in Korea this week, and I’ll probably take a small vacation to Japan as well. Overall though I’m really excited to get back to work and I know everyone else it too” Encouraging words from the young defender, surely Seattle will be pleased with his attitude. While he is approaching his situation in the right way, ultimately on-ice performance is what matters so we’ll just have to wait to see how it turns out. Either way, you cannot fault HJK for his work ethic and mentality, the way he carries himself is very professional if that translates to the ice we could be in for a big season from the youngster but only time will tell. As always we wish him and Seattle nothing but the best moving forward. GO BEARS! Word Count: 507
  14. HJK and Bears gearing up for Playoffs!! Seoul - Han Jae-kuk and the Seattle Bears are gearing up for what will certainly be a brutal playoff run. The Bears finished second in the North American Conference after a slow start to the season, giving them a solid position for a deep playoff run. HJK continues to receive small amounts of minutes but this should be a great learning experience for the young player. Playoff hockey is a different beast and being able to experience it during his rookie season will surely help him be more prepared later in his career when his team will be relying on him more. Speaking of playoff experience that is something this Seattle Bears team boasts a lot of. Seattle has been on a long streak of making the playoffs and most of the players on the team this year were on the team last year when they hoisted the cup. This experience could prove to be extremely valuable especially when going up against some of the younger teams who don’t quite know what to expect from playoff hockey yet. Seattle while not cup favorites are expected to go quite deep into the playoffs and a first round exit would be nothing less than an embarrassment for the organization. With these things in mind we caught up with our Korean wonder-kid to get his thoughts on everything: “Yes I am very excited to get going in the playoffs. I am a bit nervous but all the guys around me are so used to it that it really helps. These guys have been there, done that so it's like all I have to do is relax and follow their lead, you know? I know for some of these guys it's probably their last season with Seattle so we really want to win the whole thing, that’s the only thing on everyone’s mind. I know we aren't the favorites but you can never count the Bears out of the playoffs. If watching the VHL has taught me anything it's that anything can happen in the playoffs! I'm not saying that this is going to be easy, cause we know it's going to be a tough road. What I am saying is that we are ready to go to battle every single day in order to win the cup. It’s that Bears mentality, never say never. I hope that we do well and that all of my fans in Korea will do their best in cheering us on, having the fans behind us really pushes us to play even better! Go Bears!” HJK seems ready for the playoffs and going off his words it appears the rest of the team is dialed in as well. Seattle has been very successful in the playoffs for a number of seasons now so we expect them to continue that run. The Bears will get everything kicked off in a few days, until then they will be at the team facility practicing. As always we wish HJK and the Bears nothing but the best! Keep on keeping on, go Bears! Word Count: 509
  15. Toronto PC: 10/19/2020 1. Toronto has battled into 3rd place in our conference and is in a tight race for the playoffs, what do we need to do to finish off this season? 2. Is there a particular team you’d like to see us faceoff against in the playoffs? 3. Who has been the team MVP up to this point of the season? 4. As AGM what are some things you’d like me to do for the team other than pressers? 5. It's been a long season are you guys wearing down at all or are you just now hitting your peak? 6. Hit me with your favorite food combos! We could sell them during games or something.
  16. A Ring for Every Finger Seoul - Han Jae-kuk and the Seattle Bears, after a rough start to the season, look to be on track to make the playoffs and have yet another solid run in the playoffs. Seattle coming off a VHL title started the season slowly and appeared to be having a cup hangover. However, after some class moves from the Seattle front office, the team is looking more and more like contenders. Han Jae-kuk has spent little time on the ice this season, which was to be expected for him as he still needs time to develop and adjust to the VHL. While many players may have taken this the wrong way, HJK seems to have embraced his role with the team and understands that it's about winning before personal stats and accolades. This rings even more true as multiple sources close to the situation have claimed that at one point during the season when Seattle was struggling HJK told the GM and Coaches that he was fine being benched if they felt it would improve the team performances. Luckily for HJK, Seattle decided to make other changes but that kind of attitude is something that is not common in this day and age. Many players now put themselves first as they chase huge contracts, personal recognition and stats, and records. However, it seems that the only thing that matters in HJK’s head is winning. We caught up with the young defenseman to talk about his mindset: “Yeah, I mean I knew I would be riding the bench this season, Seattle has really really good players in front of me and I just was happy to sit back and learn from them. For me I don’t take it personally because I only care about winning and that is something that this franchise knows how to do. The culture here is Seattle is amazing, they are team-first and all-in for winning. They know what it takes to reach the top of the mountain and I really admire that. To me personal stats don’t me **** if you don’t win. You can be the top scorer in the league but if you don’t have a ring to show for it then it really means nothing. If someone wants to claim to be the best you really need to show you can win then. So in my mind the only thing I want is cups, I want a ring for every finger. Winning has been my mentality since day 1, it has really shaped who I am and what I do. It’s the main reason why I’m a team player. You need a team to win, you can’t do it alone. So yeah for me it's kind of just win or go home.” Very strong words from the young player. Clearly has his mind set on getting a championship, which is certainly not a bad thing. You can tell he is hungry to win, and that appears to have made him a good teammate. The only thing left for HJK is to show that desire to win while on the ice. We wish him the best of luck going forward. Word Count: 522
  17. Legion Presser - 9/28 1. After a rough start to the season Toronto has seemingly gotten back on track, what changed with the team? 2. As you know I’m new to Toronto, what are some fun things to do in the city? 3. The season can be long and tough on the body, what do you do to avoid injuries and stay in form? 4. It’s early in the season but do any teams in particular stick out as cup favorites in either the VHL or VHLM? 5. There have been murmurs of the league expanding yet again, where would you like to see some teams? 6. Toronto prides itself on building a strong team community, do you think we’ve done a good job so far?
  18. Hey everyone, Welcome back to another "Week with HJK"! This week I'm gonna be talking about my VHL debut with Seattle and how things are going up in the big leagues. So I mean we won in my first Bears appearance which was exciting! I only got to play about 7 minuets of the game but c'mon what do you expect for a rookie defense-man on the defending champs! Since then we've lost a few games and we sit at 2-2, and I'm playing about 7-8 minuets per game. Obviously I'd like to be playing more and obviously I'd like for us to be winning more but things will only get better with time. I'm really determined to take my time, learn from the guys ahead of me in the rotation and develop. Seattle won the cup last season so these guys know what it takes to win, I'm just gonna soak up that knowledge while they're here. I also think the wins will come in time, we have a few new guys that just need some time to settle and then Seattle will be clicking on all cylinders once again! I gotta say even though I'm not playing much I really enjoy being in Seattle, the guys are fun, the management has been straight with me and they really are helping me develop my game! I hope to show you guys the fruits of this development sooner rather then later! Until then I hope you'll keep supporting me and keep tuning in to my little blogs, it really is cathartic to write things down. Fighting! HJK
  19. It’s now the offseason, what do you do during this time? Relax? Train? Study film? As the new AGM of Toronto, tell me something about you so I can get to know my players! How do you feel about Toronto’s draft? What aspect of your game are you working on heading into next season? Do you feel confident in the direction Toronto is heading? Which team in either the VHL or VHLM do you think needs a logo update next?
  20. Seoul - Today, South Korean professional hockey player Han Jae-kuk announced the creation of a new hockey team based in Seoul in which the young star owns 10%. HJK partnered with Korean chaebol (that means conglomerate) Hanhwa who will own the remaining 90% of the team. In his statement about the team, HJK has stated he will be one of the team's brand ambassadors but will remain otherwise out of operations as long as he continues to play hockey in the VHL. As for the team itself, for now they will be playing in the Korean Hockey League, a minor league in South Korea. However both HJK and Hanhwa have said that they anticipate the team moving up into a more competitive league in the future. Specifically they are hoping that they can work with the VHL to incorporate the team into either the VHL or VHLM as an expansion team when the time is right. HJK has been outspoken about trying to include Asian teams in the league's expansion so this seems to fit his personal goals. Here are Han Jae Kuk’s words on where he sees the teams future: “I fully expect this team to be very competitive in the Korean Hockey League, we have put a lot of time and effort into creating a very strong roster. Of course I think that the future of the team will be in a bigger and more competitive league. The fan market in this city is huge and I expect that once our profit margins are revealed after the first year the viability of this team in Seoul will catch the eye of some big leagues. The market for pro teams in Seoul and other Asian cities are huge, and in hockey they are relatively untapped. What we are doing here in Seoul is tapping into that Market. When the VHL or VHLM opens up for expansion again we are 100% going to submit a bid for Seoul to be one of those expansion teams. I just can’t see a reason why hockey refuses to expand into the Asian market, honestly it makes me sad that the sport is so ethnocentric so we’re trying to change that.” Following the comments by both HJK and Hanhwa the name and logo of the team was revealed to the public for the first time. The chosen name for the team was the Seoul Royals, a name that is owed to the history of Seoul as the capital of the Joseon Dynasty which ruled over Korea for over 500 years (1392-1897). Seoul is also still home to the surviving members of the Korean royal family. The logo features a golden tortoise which pays homage to one of the unique royal seals of the Joseon Dynasty. The tortoise is also a nod to the famous turtle warships which were used by the Joseon dynasty in the royal navy. The logo also features a crown with the name of the city, Seoul, in Hangul (Korean). Overall the media and public reacted well to the unveiling of the logo in Korea. Word count: 513 Inspired by @Emi
  21. (HJK is knocked off the puck in international friendlies against Canada) HJK Looking to Develop in Seattle Seoul - Han Jae-kuk, our local hockey star, will begin his first season in the VHL this year. Following a tough loss in the VHLM playoffs, Han was called up to Seattle to start the new season. Seattle is coming off another huge playoff run which resulted in yet another VHL championship for the Bears. HJK will look to slot in on the 4th line defensive pairing as Seattle retains their defensive core so finding minutes may be tough for the young player. However, this role as a bottom pair defenseman where he will sit behind some of the best defenders in the league may be beneficial. This will be a year in which development will be the key focus for the South Korean star, and being able to play under veterans with lots of talent will take away the pressure of having to perform as well as provide some solid mentors for him to model his game after. Overall, both the Team and HJK are confident that he will be able to develop into a starting caliber defenseman within the next few seasons. Jae-kuk has already shown a knack for development, just look at his jump from his 1st season in the VHLM to his 2nd season in the VHLM, where his ppg and +/- rating dramatically improved. That improvement was the result of his relentless work ethic and we should expect the same work ethic to carry over to his time in Seattle. According to sources close to the situation, HJK has already been to the Seattle training facility. In fact, he was there just 1 week after his Marlin’s lost in the VHLM playoffs. HJK will surely be working with his coaches and training staff to get stronger and improve his game for the rigors of the VHL. One of the young players biggest weaknesses going into the season will be strength. In the VHLM Jae-kuk could get by with his relatively low strength on the ice, but in the VHL if he does not put on some solid muscle he will get bullied by players. Along with that, his checking is weak for a defender. This could be because he lacks the physical strength to get in quality checks but whatever the reason HJK barely lays down hits on the ice. Improving on his checking so he can disrupt counter attacks, and breaks will be important. That being said HJK does show some strong qualities that should translate well into the VHL, his defensive positioning is probably his strongest quality as he is rarely out of position and makes life much easier on his goalie. His puck handling and skating are very strong as well, once he gets the puck he can easily move it up the ice with finesse and speed. HJK has also displayed some solid vision in his passing, picking out teammates for easy goals. Those skills will translate well to the VHL, so as long as HJK can improve on his weaknesses we think the future looks bright for him in Seattle and he could be lifting up a championship sooner rather than later. (Word Count: 520)
  22. Dear San Diego, It has been a wild ride here in San Diego, from bottom of the barrel to one of the top teams in the league we have been through alot in the past 2 seasons. Along the way I have made some really good friends, and learned alot about both life and hockey. So it is with great sadness and at the same time great memories that I bid farewell to San Diego and the Marlins organization. The fans, the team and my teammates have been better than I could’ve ever asked for. Although they didn’t draft me, San Diego was the first team to trust me and let me play my game. They treated me like family and for that I will be forever grateful. Though I am sad we fell short of our goal to bring a trophy to the city, I am proud that we competed so hard and gave it everything we had. I will remember San Diego with fondness and happy memories whenever I look back on my time here. I hope you all will do the same when you remember me as a Marlins player. The journey for me does not stop here though, I will join the reigning champs Seattle on their quest for back-to-back championships and yet another trophy to add to their growing collection. I hope you all continue to support me as I chase my dreams in the big leagues. Thank you for everything, HJK
  23. 1. With Ottawa down, we’ll either get Miami or Houston in the second round (if Vegas can complete a comeback versus Minnesota). What’s the key to not only hanging in with Miami, but beating them in a series? The key is to just keep the momentum going! We got the best of a team who was better than us in the regular season in Ottawa and we can do it again against Miami if we keep the same energy! Keep playing good team defense and play our game, if we can do that we can win. 2. Personally, I think we have the grit to beat Houston, what would you say the key would be to beating Houston? Just playing our brand of hockey, which is shutting things down at the defensive end and then playing from the back via our extremely strong blue line! We have the talent and our team is really old school tough, we can impose our will and our brand of hockey on Houston! 3. What were some of the words exchanged in the handshake line between yourself and a member of the Lynx that you could share with the group? I didn't say a single thing to Ottawa, I don't really know any of those guys and I prefer to just keep things quiet. A simple handshake for their hard work and a good series is enough for me. 4. Looking ahead to the offseason for a moment, what is one thing you’d like to do this offseason in the VHL that would be engaging with the community? I think having a charity tournament where the winning team gets their prize money donated to the charity of their choice would be something fun to set up! 5. Who among your San Diego teammates are you most interested in following as they make their transition to the VHL next season? @okifenoki he's been a great guy in the locker-room and a strong leader for our team as captain. I'm really excited to see how things play out for him up in the big leagues! @Steve will also be a guy I'll be keeping my eye on, he's been fun to have on the squad. 6. What are your favorite hockey-based shows/films? If you haven’t seen a single hockey show/film, what are you doing with your life instead you heathen? I know its not a great movie but I love goon. Something about the comedy and the premise just makes it really fun for me!
