Nice insight on what it takes to win the VHLM, which seems to boil down to luck. With the increased competitiveness of the league, it's essential for GMs to be constantly scouting and assessing their assets. There were a few basic grammatical mistakes but overall didn't affect the flow of the read. Add a title and a picture in there to bring the presentation of your article right up there. Otherwise, it was a fully enjoyable piece! Thanks for the read @Eudaldkp !

Welcome @Viknegar! I'm Minessota Storm's GM, we're the defending champs this year. We would love to have you on our roster, and unlike other teams, we can offer you meaningful minutes from the start while you grow your player. It's gonna be an amazing season and we'll have it tough competing for the championship, but with the additions of players like you we can do it! Sign with us for a 1,5M contract and the amazing opportunity that Minnesota can offer you. You just have to quote me saying "I accept".
PD: You can have 2nd or even 1st line minutes with us;) quite nice huh?

Before all of you come for my throat with the knifes, this is just a post to give some insight to new members or basically anyone that might be interested in what the thought process is behind the scenes of a VHLM team.

So, what do you need in order to win a VHLM cup? A lot of assets mainly. The M works in a way where assets are super key, since every season we have a dispersal draft where every player that hasn't been drafted goes to another team, picks are essential if you want to win a cup. On top of that, every player that is over 200 TPE will be going up to the major league, and you rarely find players that stick with the team for more than one season.

But assets aren't everything, you also need to pay a lot of attention to the new members. Surely, the active members rate per new members must suck, but every once in a while you can find a gem and if you can find them at the start of the season you will have in your hands a 150+ TPE player that you basically got for free. However, with 11 teams, the competition for free agents is harder than ever, and you must be quik and very active to snag those new players that keep joining in.

Okay, so, amass assets and recruit free agents, is that it? You could say so, but obviously there's more. You also need luck, and that is no joke. Your first round pick that was looking like a stud might have real life problems and go inactive. That goalie that you thought was for sure going to be the best goalie in the M for the season might get called up to the majors. Your high pick might be an idiot and get banned. There are so many things that can and will fuck up your season... that's why I mentioned the luckyness aspect. Not to talk about the randomness of StHS, and that in a 5 or 7 game series basically anything could happen.

And last, but not least, trading. Trading is essential for the M, since lots of assets come and go during the season and picks are traded almost weekly, you need to be in constant search of trade partners that might benefit your present or your future. It is not easy to sell your assets at the perfect moment to get the maximum value that you could, because the conditions of the season might not be the best for it. You may have a star center (whom next year is going to go up) in a tanking team, but you have to consider that if the other competing teams have also a star center, his price might not be what it would normally be.

To close this article, I would like to give some insight into what I think the right steps are for winning an M championship. Firstly, you need to consider yours and the other teams assets. Based on that, you can choose which season you want to compete. Basically, get as many assets as you can for that season and work your ass to get good free agents. The season in which you choose to compete you go all in, it doesn't matter if you only have a 4th pick in the next season, as long as you win the championship it is all worth it. Bitches and money come next

Welcome to the league @msmith93! I am the Minnesota Storm GM. We will be defending the Founder's Cup this season. We had a good draft and we have a solid roster with active players in both the game and the Discord.
However, we are still in need of new active rookies and that’s where you take part, pushing us to the very top. We would like to offer you a $1,5M contract alongside a very meaningful role in our run. If you’re interested you just have to quote this post saying that you accept and I’ll send you the contract!
    Let’s make history together

This past week, the playoffs came to an end, as the Storm won over the Halifax 21st with a score of 5 to 3.
It was a game that started out nicely for the local team, scoring the first goal just 3 minutes in, although a penalty caused them to let in a goal by the star defenseman Codrick Past. Luckily for them, Jet Jaguar answered right before the 1st ended and took the lead. The 2nd period didn’t start so nicely, as Volosenkov took a penalty and the Storm capitalized on it with a Wolfe goal. Then, Storm’s 2nd made their appearance in their scoreboard and put them up one goal. In the 3rd, it was Orion Slade who opened the scoring, giving the storm a 4-2 lead. Halifax responded in less than a minute, but so did the Storm again, and Halifax couldn’t claw back to the game.

For their inaugural season in Minnesota, it couldn’t have gone any better, although they would have preferred a better regular season. It wasn’t until there were 15 games left that Minnesota lead the standings, and even then, their results against Halifax, the other top team, weren’t very convincing. As the playoff came, another very strong contender in the Houston Bulls started emerging, thanks to the amazing job that his GM @Sonnet did in both the draft and the free agency, but luckily for the Storm they didn’t have to face them as it was Halifax who eliminated the Bulls. They did have to have the Yukon Rush though, a team who before the draft was looking like another top contender but had some very important losses during the season, with the most notable being one of their top picks, Justin Cole, whom got called up to the VHL.

Storm’s GM, Eudald Puigdemont, seemed to celebrate just as hard as their players, if not harder. It was his first full season as a GM, and what a season it was! I’m sure it is every GM dream to win a cup in your first year. Although he did an impressive job, he has mentioned many times that he couldn’t have done it from the help of his mentors, and specially @Trifecta, the previous GM who did a great job at giving Eudald the right assets for the following season.
We will end the article with some words from Eudald:

“It was an amazing season, from the start to the end. We had our troubles, as we didn’t have a solid starting goalie until well into the season, and the team wasn’t really clicking for half a season. I have got to say, that a few times the thought of retooling and trading away players crossed my mind, but I’m really glad that I decided to go all in and make the necessary moves to acquire some great players.
I just want to thank everyone who was a part of our roster this year, as a lot of you had to stick together and maintained a positive attitude even when we were having rough results against the top teams. It was a pleasure managing you guys and I wish you all well in your future!”

    ECN Draft Interviews

ECN draft interviews is a way how to understand what draftees want in their future teams and what are their expectations for the next season. This interview features a very popular guy on VHL forums and a phenomenal player who took VHLM by storm and now is hoping to be one of the top draft picks in the upcoming VHL draft - Julius Freeman. Julius Freeman finished the season with 100 points in 72 games. He was 9th in the league in points category and lead Halifax to VHLM Finals losing only to overstacked Minnesota Storm.

    Questions
    - First off, thanks for agreeing to this interview. How would you rank your first season? -
    - Thank you for reaching out to me I'm a big fan of the ECN and look forward to seeing it continue to grow and thrive for years to come. I would rank my first season as a great first season. Without knowing anyone in this league I was picked up by Halifax after the draft and was treated with great respect and patience by my GM and AGM on the team. They helped me quickly get acclimated to the league and showed me everywhere I needed to go to learn as much as I could as quickly as I could. When I showed how determined I was they gave me First line responsibilities even though I was new and had no claim to them. In the locker room, I was named assistant captain by my peers. I lead the team in the regular season with 40 goals 60 assists and 100 points. Our team made it to the finals and we put up a hell of a fight and even though we lost I could not be more proud of our team. I could be harder on myself in not showing up to where I should have been in the playoffs but honestly, it's hard to play against a team where their third line has an equal skill as our second line. I played my heart out and I know my team did as well. Sometimes you don't win though, and it's not always about the result but how you played. Everyone on our team played well.
    - Who was the biggest influence to you on your first season? -
    - Ohh that's a tough one since there are really a number of people. First I have to say McWolf who believed in me and trusted me with time on the ice and his personal time helping me grow and learn the league. Thranduil who showed me that standing up for the people learning is what the VHLM is all about and what we need to strive to do. SirRupertBarnes who showed me how to lead a locker room and be apart of a team and encourage a team to grow together. HHH who was always at the top of the draft ranking and showed me what it takes to be the guy. Every single one of them pushed me either directly or indirectly to be hopefully one of the best first Generation Players in this draft.
    - Now to the current draft. Which are the teams that you would like to join in VHL after the draft? -
    - Ohh I would love to play for any team willing to pick me and trust me... Ohh you want a better answer than the canned answer all draft picks give. Ok, There are a couple of teams that look more interesting to me than others. Vancouver seems like it could be a good fit. I could make the argument that I could get some first line time with some great players in Beau Louth and Jake Davis. That is if I can beat Konstantin Mulligan in training camp. Malmo could be a good fit, I'm not sure if I'll still be on the board when they pick but who wouldn't want to be on a team to make history for a franchise.
-In the end, what do you believe will future bring for you and what is that you want to say to GM's looking at you as a potential draft pick? -
    - I am not sure what the draft will bring for me and what will be my lot in the league. All I know is what I can and will do. I have taken advantage of every opportunity I can in order to get to where I am and I will continue to do so as long I still have a career on a team. I am a hard worker who will do my best to push toward the front of the pack and hopefully someday I will be known as one of the best players in this draft.
-Thanks for the interview, good luck in the draft!
    -Thanks for asking questions!

Good luck to a faithful supporter of ECN and we hope you will achieve greatness in the upcoming draft.
