5'5" 250 pound Titans Center Oskars Harumpf is not shy about his love for christmas cookies. In fact, he's been dominating christmas cookies for almost a week now as celebratory gifts come into the Helskinki Titan's locker room. Many of these gifts are tins of cookies, which Harumpf immediately opens and begins to devour. Most would call this selfish, but let's look at the facts here, Oskars Harumpf is 5 and a half feet tall and weighs 250 pounds, if there's a cookie within his field of vision, it's going to get eaten. Experts have projected that Harumpf could consume as many as 2000 cookies over the holidays. He's already eclipsed 500 and it's not even christmas yet. The moral of this story is, if you have some christmas cookies you want to eat, do not let Harumpf see them. He may be unselfish on the ice, but when it comes to christmas cookies there are no rules.

Still doing pretty good, 4-2 in our last 6. Not bad.

As for why our scoring may have dropped a bit, I've been eating a lot of christmas cookies this week, I need to re-focus and get back into game shape.

    Titan Take Over?

Jake Wylde, James Faraday and Don Draper celebrate a goal in a recent game.

The Helsinki Titans came into the S41 season hungry for a championship and with some new faces in the line up things are looking good. The Titans are off to an 8-5-1 start and are sitting in 2nd place just 3 points behind rival Riga Reign, who they beat 5-2 in their one match up so far this season. Some would say it's only a matter of time before the Titans take over 1st place in the European Conference. With a +15 goal differential, Helsinki has proven they have what it takes to put wins on the board. Experts believe we're just starting to see the beginning of something special brewing in Titan town.

The Titans are getting scoring from everywhere with no player having less than 7 points on the season. Naomi Young currently leads the team with 9 goals and 8 assists for 17 points and is looking as advertised after she came to the team in the off-season. Willem Janssen and James Faraday are also off to nice starts with 16 and 15 points respectively, while Don Draper is just off their pace with 14 points, including 11 assists. Jake Wylde is getting it done on the blue line with 12 points and a team leading 59 hits and 22 blocks, once again proving he is one of the most well rounded players in the league. Speaking of well rounded, 5'5" 250 pound rookie Oskars Harumpf is off to a nice start himself with 9 points, 24 hits and a 51% face off winning percentage. The rookie is not looking out of place in the VHL and is getting better with each game. Jackson Miller, Chris Raymond and King Czar are also having solid seasons with 9, 8 and 7 points and Czar is 2nd on the team in hits with 36 and 1st in decapitations with 3 respectively. Titans goalie Kimmo Salo is possibly having the most impressive season with a 1.91 GAA and .920 Save % along with 4 shutouts and 8 wins. Some were worried Salo could not hold down the fort for Helsinki this season, but he's quickly proving his doubters wrong. The S41 Titans are all playing well and working great together as a team as evident by their team statistics.

The Titans are currently ranked #2 in the league in goals against, allowing just 2.00 per game, which is quite an impressive number. They are also #1 in the league in shots allowed, giving up a mere 24 per game. When it comes to hits per game, the Titans are the 2nd most physical team in the league averaging over 18 hits per game. With that combination of physical play and tight defense, no wonder they are one of the toughest teams to play against in the entire VHL. Did we mention they're also 3rd in the league in Face Off winning percentage? Winning over 57% of their draws along with that great defensive play and a strong offense (4th in shots, 6th in goals scored) have the Titans looking like the team to beat in the European Conference. They already proved they can take out Riga with a dominant 5-2 victory earlier in the year so it's only a matter of time before the Titans take over.

Harumpf reacted to Beketov in Titans hold Christmas party in Locker Room
With the Christmas season among us the layers and management of the VHL’s Helsinki Titans have decided to spread holiday cheer in the best way possible: an open bar!

The players, coaches, and management of the team took to the locker room late Friday night and loaded themselves up with as much liquor as they could carry. While most teams worry about how their seasons will start and how everything is going to pan out, the Titans instead decided to have some good quality Holiday bonding amongst the new and old players.

“It really is a great way to get to know your new linemates” Jackson Miller quoted while sipping on some scotch. “Although there is a slight problem with a bunch of drunk hockey players and Naomi being in the same room..."

We here at VHL.com tried to get a quote from the coaching staff of the Titans on whether or not they thought a party of this magnitude (rumours have the bill set at $20 000 in liquor) is a good idea this early in the season. However they were doing keg stands while being interviewed so their responses were less than stellar.

While they are likely to take to the ice at least a little hungover in their next game, the players seem to be enjoying the holiday cheer so we will have to wait and see if it pays off in the long run as a “bonding” exercise.

    Least amount of shots allowed
    Least amount of goals against

    I'll take all the credit.

But, this sort of explains the shot blocks, the other team can't even get an opportunity to shoot. Combine that with 3 game win streak allowing only 1 goal, we're on our way to the top.

Yep, that +2 should put me at the 9 cap each week this season rather than just the 7 I'm getting now. Should be good and I got it in there for this week.

Blake Campbell playing for the Denver Stars

Everyone could potentially become a great player but there are fewer goalies in professional leagues than players and to be honest, a goalie is a while other create compared to a player. It takes a huge amount of focus, vision, determination and many other things on top of a high skill level. Most goalies train from an extremely young age and it still takes them many years to master with very few coming close to perfecting the position. With people all over the world trying to attempt to make the big leagues in the VHL, your chances are very low to make it. The lower the chances, the harder you will have to work. Many I'm sure are deserving, but there's few more deserving than young goalie prospect Blake Campbell, who absolutely knows a thing or two about putting in the hours to become great.

He's the younger brother of the NHL's Dallas Stars goalie prospect Jack Campbell and he has followed in his foot steps from a very young age. He looked up to his brother for being a great goalie and always wanted to become one, however, he started out as a center. He became good at the position but eventually grew old of it as it wasn't challenging at all for him. It wasn't too long after that he'd eventual find his new challenge. On his 9th birthday, Blake's parents both him a set of Reebok pads with a matching glove, blocker and stick. His helmet dawned a wolf biting his white, big teeth as the face part of the mark. He had never been so excited for hockey season to begin.

It didn't take long for Blake to get the hang of the position and eventually had competitive amateur teams calling his phone consistently at the start of every season. His strong player, determination and effort earned him high reputation among scouts .Professional scouts have labelled the younger Campbell brother as the one with the most potential saying that he's really passionate about making himself better and that in a lot of ways he's become stronger at the position saying he's become the better "Jack Campbell". The brother rivalry is there but it's all fun and games for them. The real rivalry right now for Blake is himself. He wants to make himself the best possible option for any team to take. He wants to be the guy that wins you the game, even if there was a teammate who got a hatty.

Jack Campbell's Agent BANACKOCK released a brief statement earlier this morning from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. Within it, he announces Blake Campbell's draft eligibility for the upcoming draft plus more.

"Firstly I would like to say that I am officially announcing that I am eligible in the upcoming draft. Secondly, thank you for the warm welcome to your league and all the help I've received thus far. I'm not going to lie, this is way more overwhelming than the SHL. It has always been an interest of mine to become a goalie and master it. I currently have a very strong offensive winger in the SHL, am helping my roommate with his Dman (and have great results for him) and now have the urge to see if I can figure being a goalie out. My focus is on SHL as I am a CoGM with a good player and have put tons of work into him (been in the SHL since S4). I'm always going away up North to work in a Camp."

His Agent ended it up with a hopeful statement though,

With that said, my full intentions are to turn Blake Campbell into one of the leagues current elite goalies. Who ever picks me, there's a risk but there always is. Help me learn this site and in return I will help you by working my ass to ensure I'm the best I can be in net for you."

    Thank You,
    Banackock (Goalie - Blake Campbell)

    Helsinki's 99 Overall Leadership

The Helsinki Titans have a new core of leaders that are ready to represent the sacred teal jerseys into the future. It has been a rough few seasons in Helsinki with the surprise retirement of then captain Svoboda after only two seasons in the VHL. When a team faces adversity the true leaders will step up and will fill the void and bring more than the predecessor ever did to the team. The young players on the Titans are ready to step up and provide more than just points this season. This article will be a tribute, and an introduction, to part of the new leadership group of the Helsinki Titans.

    Oskars Harumpf - Center - 'A'

Harumpf is taking the next step in his career after joining the Titans organization in the Season 40 VHL Entry Draft where he was selected 6th overall. He spent last season in the minors playing for the Bratislava Watchmen. During the regular season Harumpf dominated the competition while putting up 34 goals and an outstanding 130 assists for 164 points. The Titans are loaded with players who can put the puck in the back of the net so the addition of a potentially elite playmaker have Titans fans excited. In the playoffs Harumpf scored 24 points and more importantly led the Watchmen to a Founder's Cup championship. Bringing a winning mentality to the dressing room for the Titans will be a huge asset for Harumpf. The winning didn't stop there for the young center though, in the off-season he picked up the Oates Trophy for leading the minors in assists. Harumpf joined the Titans for training camp this year and immediately fit into the locker room. He was selected by management and his fellow players to represent the team as an alternate captain for Season 41.

    Chris Raymond - Defense

Raymond had found himself a comfortable niche on the Helsinki Titans playing on the second line in Season 40 as a left winger. He scored 24 goals and added 32 assists for a total of 56 points last season and looked to be fitting in perfectly on Helsinki. In the playoffs, Raymond seemed to struggle to find his game from the regular season and had 3 assists throughout the seven game series with Riga. During the off-season Raymond worked hard on his two-way game and vowed to play better defensively in his own end to bring a new dynamic to the Titans second forward line. At the start of training camp, Raymond was approached by the Titans coaching staff and asked if would be willing to switch to defense. Raymond showed no hesitation in having to completely change his playing style that he had honed since playing minor hockey. He accepted it as a challenge, the Titans needed a fourth defenseman and Raymond had the team's best interests in mind when he made the switch from the left wing to defense. As a role model in the Titans locker room it sets an example that this is a team game and sacrifices are willing to be had for the greater success of everyone.
