Spence King reacted to Dabnad in VHLE: A Team of Dreams
Hello everyone and welcome to my talkshow(article). Today we’ll be looking at the theme of the week since I really need to improve my defence.. I mean to tell everyone the best players of all time! Since it’s my first year in this league and I have no idea who is who we’ll be looking at a current VHLE dream team (copyrighted) looking at raw stats. 15 skaters and No goalies will be chosen (no goalies because “best” goalies can be subjective) based on current stats (true of Thursday February the 24th 6:17 pm give or take the time it took me to write this). Let’s start!

    First Line
Our first line will be consisting of goal scorers and a 2 great playmaker. Our first player (our left winger) will be, drumroll please, Pekko Viitanen! This was an obvious one, number one points scorer with a large amount of points who will be our play maker and coincidentally a left winger! On to our right winger who will be Mats Zucarello! Mats is the number goal scorer right now and was destined to be on the first line. Our center for the first line will be, my teams very own, Perry Laperriere!  Second in assists and fifth in points one of the best centres for the VHLE for the moment.

So far our first like is looking like:
Pekko Viitanen - Perry Laperriere - Mats Zucarello
So let’s look at our top defensive pairing! For defence, rather than looking for just points we should look for good physicality in a player. This will help us in agression in the long run. So for our top defensive pairing, let’s take the easy way and look at the most points (by a long shot) in any defence man, who I like to call Mr. Australia, Zeljko Ranogajec! (That took a shaming amount of attempts to write I’m sorry). This was a obvious choice for the defence bringing good experience to the team along with a good skill set. The player playing in hand to hand with this Australian player is a very unexpected one, Cameron Elsby. I’ve chosen Cameron after careful thinking. The reason I’ve chosen him over the many others is a result of him playing very well all round. With a point per game along with 190+ hits and 100+ Shots blocked he’s a perfect asset on the defence while contributing up the ice.

So far our team is looking amazing,
Pekko Viitanen - Perry Laperriere - Mats Zucarello
On the top line along with
    Zeljko Ranogajec - Cameron Elsby
    on the top pair!

Now that the first line is done and the first pairing is done I don’t think that explaining all the people is worth, for the offensive lines most of them will be following a 2 playmaker, 1 goal scorer, or a 2 goal scorer, 1 playmaker format while the defence will be following a 1 agresser, 1 point maker or 2 point maker pattern. Other than that, let’s get on with it. (I will be making 3 offensive lines only since 4 offensive lines will be too much for the sake of salary)

Pekko Viitanen - Perry Laperriere - Mats Zucarello  On the first line, great bunch of people and some amazing prospects, will be getting 40% of ice time
Ronan Lavelle -Johnny Xavier - Mikhail Lospenov another bunch of great prospects, 30% ice time
Jason Coiner - Jlloyoid Blloyoiderson - Raihan Heavems Some prospects, some not, 30% ice time

    Now the defence

    Zeljko Ranogajec - Cameron Elsby
X Man - The Loch Ness Monster
    Artair McCloud- Mr Duk

I think that this would be one of the best current VHLE teams and you may think otherwise however, I think this is perfect. Nothing else from me (for now) and I’ll see you next week soon. Signing off, Dabnad until next time!

    VHL Rookie award prediction

I did a poll but the poll is for nothing cause I was going to do both no matter what ahahahah I’m so funny.

What do I look at for a rookie to win the best rookie of the year award is that they are one of the top player in their team so they get the most time possible.

Lest start with the goalie available to win this award we have: Dusty Wilson, Red Gaming, Ed NU, Augustus Kennedy, Thomas Price and Art Vandelay. In that group we have two S81 backup in Thomas Price for Malmo and Ed Nu for London. In that group Dusty is the one who can compete with the non-goalie rookie.

Defense: Branden Skuin, Jake Thunder, Siyan Yasilievich, Pierre Emile Bouchard, Deron Nesbitt, Hammar Voss, Cameron Elsby, BrIAN Kowalski, Callum Murray, Baxter Arcanum and Scoish Velociraptor Maloish. In that group Brian Kowalski, Hammar Voss are the two defenseman rookie that in my opinion will have the most responsibility on the ice who equals more points chance.

Finally the forward: Tomas Sogaard, Jason Argos, Alf Larsson, PJ Daniels, Ivan Retoslav, Pete Mitchell, Napoleon Dynamite, Connor Wilson, Bradley Buzzer, Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin, Daniel Clarke, Benjamin Franklin Chang, Leandro Goncalves, Landon Wolanin and Bob Chicoine. The 3 recent one are all Calgary player and I could see 1 of them popping off this season to win this award, but sadly I don’t think anyone in that forward group could compete against Dusty or Hammar Voss. So my predictions  to win this award is Dusty Wilson.

I didn't see anywhere where these were collected nicely. Most of these were made by someone unknown back in the day, then I went through and made some for VAN, MOS, MAL, TOR, PRG, and DCD (and a new one for NYA). Obviously you can see the style is a little different, but it was the closest I could really get without the original PSDs.

I remade them all myself now. Enjoy.

    S84 Pre-season Power Rankings

Each year when predictions open up, I go through a process of looking at every VHL team’s roster and ranking them. This helps me figure out who I want to pick to win awards. I figured I’m already doing the work to rank the teams on my own. I might as well type out some sentences and earn some sweet TPE. So here we are, my Season 84 pre-season power rankings.

I’ll start at the bottom and work my way to the top. Save the suspense for the end. I find it’s helpful for me to group teams into tiers. I’ll also highlight a key player from the team who will be crucial to the team’s success.
    Bottom Feeders
    16) Prague
Based on all their offseason moves, it appears that Prague is rebuilding. Their current roster makes that evidently clear. Incomplete and low on TPE, they’d likely struggle to beat some VHLE teams.
    Key Player: Future Draft Picks
    15) Malmo
Malmo is mostly young, their fans can look to the future and hope. Hope might be all they have at the moment.

Key Player: Fans will definitely be cheering for Malmo legend Druss Deathwalker’s @animal74 final season. But with Malmo looking into the future, the growth of Igor Molotov @Dom is the key for Malmo
    14) L.A.
Props to L.A for filling out a complete roster. Unfortunately, it’s tough to find where the talent is on that complete roster.
Key Player: All eyes will be on L.A.’s #1 overall pick, goalie Art Vandelay @Gustav

    Missing Pieces
    13) New York
If you had to name a strength for N.Y., it would be their top D pair. Jerome Reinhart @MexicanCow123 is a proven winner and while Sven Eightnine @BarzalGoat may have taken a step back last season, they still received valuable experience on a great Seattle team. Unfortunately for N.Y., the compliments end there. It’s tough to find where their offense is going to come from.
Key Player: If they have any chance to do well, Robert Wilk @Tomat0 will have to shine on offense.

    12) Vancouver
Vancouver has a couple of veteran players who keep this team from being too terrible. But an incomplete roster and aging players whose best days are behind them make it tough to see how Vancouver will be overly competitive. Hopefully fans will still be drunk from the past glory to mind too much.
Key Player: Young goalie Brandt Fuhr @Tate will have to improve on an already great rookie season for Vancouver to have a chance at success.

    Almost There
    11) Chicago
Chicago’s defense and goalie are very suspect and it doesn’t appear their offense will allow them to continually outscore opponents. Fans can expect a lot of high scoring games, at least.
Key Player: Recent acquisition Baby Bob @Baby Boomer will need to mesh with their new teammates and have their best season.

    10) London
London has a very evenly skilled team. There’s no real superstar standout player who can carry the team. Their success will depend on everyone contributing. If they’re 2nd lines can keep improving, they might be able to take on some of the top-heavy teams later in this list.
Key Player: Goaltender Cole Pearce @N0HBDY will have to stop everything in sight to allow the team to unite in front of him.

    Outside Looking In
    9) Riga
Riga has a great top line, but lack of depth is likely what’s holding them back, especially without a complete defense and a top-tier goalie.
Key Player: Alexandre Leduc @Lemorse7 has had a solid first two seasons. They will need to make the leap to greatness to propel Riga forward.

    8 ) Warsaw
Warsaw and Riga are very similar looking team on paper. Warsaw appears to be just slightly better at every position, which gives them the nod over Riga in the rankings.
Key Player: Brendan Marner @MetalToday will have recover from a slight dip in performance in their sophomore season.

    7) Seattle
Some significant retooling after their championship finds Seattle lower down this list than one might expect. Much like Riga, they lack depth at defense and strong goaltending.
Key Player: Free Agent signee Jonathan Ori @ROOKIE745 will need to lead this team for Seattle to have any chance at a repeat.

    Good
    6) Davos
Davos made a lot of moves to strengthen their roster this season. Their lack of offensive depth is all that is holding them back.
Key Player(s): It’s tough to separate these two because they came as a packaged deal from Seattle. Both Vinny Detroit @dasboot and Zeedayno Chara @Jubis need to transfer their winning magic to Davos.

    5) Toronto
Much like Warsaw/Riga Toronto and Davos are very similar on paper with Toronto just being slightly better at every position.
Key Player: Veteran center Paul Atreides @Mr_Hatter will have to duplicate their amazing performance last season.

    4) Moscow
On paper Moscow is slightly worse than the other teams in this tier. But, based on their performance over the last couple of years, never count out Moscow. Their winning pedigree puts them above both Toronto and Davos.
Key Player: Hard Markinson @STZ took a slight step back last season, after being separated from long-time partner Aurelien Moreau @Frank. Can they return to the exceptional level of performance this season?

    3) Helsinki
Helsinki’s roster might not match the other teams in this tier top to bottom. But their goaltending outshines all other teams and that means a heck of a lot.
Key Player: No real surprise here. Helsinki’s success rests solely on the shoulders of their goalie, Xavier Booberry @CowboyinAmerica

    Great
    2) Calgary
Calgary probably has the best top line in the league. If you want to search for a flaw, you could point to inexperience on their 2nd line and at goalie. But this team is going to score a lot more goals then they give up, that’s a pretty simple recipe for success.
Key Player: Journeyman defenseman Erlantz Jokinen @jRuutuhad their best years at Calgary. They’ll need to rekindle that magic for Calgary to win it all.

    1) D.C.
Like in many other of the tiers, a direct comparison between teams in this tier show that D.C is better at every position than Calgary, so they get ranked higher.
Key Player: Of course, this is hall-of-famer Duncan Idaho @OrbitingDeath . Without another hall-of-fame season from Duncan Idaho, D.C.’s chances at a cup evaporate.

It's approaching 2 years since I joined the VHL community. Two years of up and downs, rough seasons along with championships. Two years of many things in both the community and in real life. As if spurred upon by a sense for additional TPE, I'll give thanks and mention to those in the community here who have made these past 2 years enjoyable and fun. Although I wish I could extend a thanks to everyone here by name, I've only interacted with a small number of you all. That being said, even if I don't mention you here, thank you for being you!

    --

In the beginning, @DMaximus  was the Philadelphia Reapers GM. It was his offer that I initially accepted as a first time player, and what an ordeal that struck up. Only spending a short time there as a player, I would later return as his AGM for a time and eventually take over the GM position. It was through him that I learned the initial steps of GMing here and getting involved.

@Ricer13 was an incredible GM in Miami and a valuable connection to make! While the team fell just short of a championship, it was here that I got to know some other great members, @dlamb and @Laine. Thank you for the great time together on that awesome team!

@.sniffuM created an awesome culture in Warsaw, and it was a blast to join that organization and play there for as long as I did. Each of these interactions with players on that team from season to season gave me a great insight on how to GM and communicate with the players here as well. @Renomitsu, @AW13, @jacobcarson877, @Siddhus, @hylands, @dasboot, and again @dlamb - we had a great run with the Predators. Thanks for being a part of an amazing team and showing up each day to contribute to an amazing experience!

@thadthrasher, actually meeting up for a beer and a burger was awesome. It was so cool to hear how both of us were going to be having kids and GMing in some way in this community. Thanks for the talks and taking on the VHLE!

@Spence King, you have such a passion for this community. Thank you for all that you contribute to the community and keep doing you buddy!

@Alex, my first AGM. I remember you applying with an actual application for the position in Philadelphia, and boy I was thrilled when you got to work. You've been a tremendous force in the community for good, and I can't wait to see your future dynasty in the VHL!

@Spaz. Where the heck do I even begin, we've had a crazy ride through some wild seasons. You've been my AGM for awhile now and have put up with me panicking over line changes and trades. But you've stuck with me, and I'll keep sticking with you! We make a great team, let's go win us a championship here soon!

@Acydburn thank you for your commitment to the VHLE as commissioner, you help make that league better and better with each passing season! And also you're a great GM in Prague, so please keep this thanks in mind when you look at Laperriere on Prague's roster around each trade deadline! 😬

For the members of my teams that I've had, I'd like to say thank you for being involved in some way during my tenure with the Philadelphia Reapers and Istanbul Red Wolves. You all have been tremendous assets to the community, and I'm always rooting for you to do well!

Each of the GMs that I've had trade talks with or discussions with, thank you to each and every one of you! Your efforts make each team and their respective locker rooms better!

I’m honestly a huge fan of this and would be curious to see more of these! I like how we can see the ripples through the league over just a simple trade. On top of that, everything is laid out here in great detail and is easy to read. I’d say the only little critique I’d make would be to make the lines between each aspect of the trades just a hair thinner (TO SSK in the middle of the trade tree is a little squished between the lines). Other than that, fantastic work!

Since I can no longer hold the position we've been looking for a replacement and while the number of applicants are not as much as they normally are that doesn't take anything away from any of the applicants they made it a hard decision where so many of them could have been good GMs to take Västerås further into greatness. Hopefully they create some great history in the VHLE.

However there is some expectation usually on who the new VHLE GM is so from what I hear there is tradition to do a lot of spoiler tags so ill do my best

Spence King reacted to Gretzky didnt lift da puck in LOSPENOV TO HOUSTON, BUT FOR HOW LONG?
HOUSTON, TX – After a shortcoming in the VHLM Playoffs last season, the Houston Bulls added what they hope will be a key offensive piece in Mikhail Lospenov via a trade with the Mississauga Hounds.

Lospenov, a Penza, RU native, spent his rookie season in Mississauga, and despite a less-than stellar performance from his team, he dazzled throughout the 72 games that he appeared in. Over the season, Lospenov led the Hounds in goals with 46 tallies and finished second in points behind teammate Nayt Bedard with 102.

Breaking the century mark in points is nothing new for a skilled player in the VHLM, but what impresses about Lospenov’s line is that the Russian forward did so in his first professional campaign and on a team, that, to put it softly: was horrific.

The “clutch factor” was truly present for Lospenov in his opening campaign in the league, as the winger marked four game-winning goals and turned away 43 opponent shots on the defensive side of the puck.

“I take pride in stepping up in those big moments for my team,” said Lospenov in an interview with the local CBS affiliate this week. “You don’t wake up and say, I’m going to be the guy who wins the game; You wake up and say I’m going to do what I can for my team. Sometimes that ends up meaning you have to get the job done, and that feels so rewarding.”

Lospenov earned a respectable reputation within the fan-base for his dedication to victory, albeit a few of them, but the faith of the fans and the organization were put to the test in October.

In what was a quickly exposed scandal, Lospenov’s agent, Christian Gostlivic, began probing VHLM general managers for trade offers to move his client to a more successful situation. Lospenov, who has been adamant of his exclusion from the conversations and decisions made by Gostlivic, quickly separated himself from the now unemployed agent.

The scandal put a heavy weight on Lospenov to prove his devotion to the Hounds, but despite his best efforts, Mississauga made the decision to move on from the situation entirely by dealing Lospenov to the Bulls.

“I’ve said this a hundred times, and I will say it again: I had no knowledge of my former agent’s dealings,” said Lospenov on VSN Tonight. “The situation was not ideal, but that happens with teams. You have a down season, you restock, and you build for the future. I wanted to be a part of that. I never wanted to leave.”

Regardless of the situation in Mississauga, Lospenov may not have a choice in his timeline with Houston, as the forward is closing in on a call-up to the next Level.

Drafted with the 28th overall pick in the VHLE Draft by Stockholm, Lospenov has an easily obtainable goal to strive for.

Beyond the VHLE, Lospenov has, as of today, signed his Entry-level deal the Helsinki Titans of the VHL who drafted him with the 40th overall pick.

The $5 million-dollar deal is enough to entice Lospenov to accelerate his development and leave the VHLM in the dust.

Should he be eligible for the S81 edition of the VHLM, Lospenov will undoubtedly help propel the Bulls into a strong contender.

Hi, I think this is a strongly worded article and you are passionate about the topic let me throw in my 5c

Vets should be able to predict which teams will be hot or not. You can look at the draft picks and teams with no draft picks will rely on waivers solely to get players and will not be able to compete. Also they start behind the 8 ball in regards to roster size. (i.e. more ice time for you less success for the team)

The pitch should tell you roughly how many people are on the team. If you are getting 3rd line minutes you know they have usually 2 full lines. If they offer you 1st line minutes they have next to no players.

I 100% believe that there should be an open channel in most locker rooms to help the team find their feet and for alumni to join in conversation. Then once your team has a bit of a comradery then you can move behind closed doors if you need to talk strategy.

The problem with this idea is that the waiver system is a way of introducing players into a team all season long. If there is a big influx of people you need the roster space to accommodate.

This does already exist and stops teams getting all the waivers

BLAINE, MN – Mikhail Lospenov might be the quiet and confident type, but his practice sessions have left scouts raving about the VHLM Draft hopeful.

Lospenov, 18, spent last week at Fogerty Arena in Blaine working out for VHLM, VHLE and VHL scouts in open sessions twice a day. After a week of note taking and film watching, scouts and analysts have been praising Lospenov’s skillset non-stop.

“His shooting ability is unmatched by anyone else his age,” said an anonymous scout. “He has that instant-impact material and it’s only going to get better.”

Besides his on-ice showings, Lospenov has been working on his off-ice skills, as he has been attending advanced English courses throughout his time stateside.

“It’s important to me that I know English, because that is what everyone speaks,” said Lospenov after leaving one of his classes. “I need to be able to communicate with my teammates on and off the ice so that we can accomplish our goals together.”

Lospenov has already been in contact with multiple teams about his willingness to play for them, if he is to be drafted.

Spence King reacted to Gretzky didnt lift da puck in Lospenov Proving Draft Gem for Mississauga
Mississauga, ONT – Former third round draft pick Mikhail Lospenov has already rewarded the Mississauga Hounds red-light tallies through the first nine games of the VHLM season.

Lospenov, 18, was drafted 31st overall in the S80 draft, a position that was far below original expectations, and was determined to prove that the other 32 picks were mistakes.

“It was a little discouraging at first,” said Lospenov. “I have put all of that behind me, and I know that I have to prove that I belong where I was picked and even beyond that.

The Russian forward is certainly proving a strong selection for the Hounds as he has totaled 13 points through his opening nine games of his career. Of the 13 points, five of those have come by way of Lospenov’s lethal shooting ability, confirming all of the scouting praise leading to the S80 Draft.

“I’ve had a lot of success, all my life, when I shoot the puck,” Lospenov explained. “There are a lot of great goaltenders and defenses at this level, and it is comforting to know that I can generate offense already and still have so much room for growth.”

Lospenov’s scoring success didn’t take long to come about, as he amassed six points in his first three games of his career. The opening game of the season saw the Russian with his first multi-point night, scoring a goal and an assist.

The biggest showing for the young Lospenov came in the third game of the season, an overtime win over Philadelphia, when Lospenov totaled two goals and an assist, including the overtime winner.

“This young man’s ability to change a game, and for that matter win a game, is what sets him apart from the other guys drafted this season,” said VSN analyst Maxime Tybureaux. “It is very difficult, at his age, to jump into this level of competition and immediately start scoring. Usually, a rookie will see his numbers climb in the second half of the season, but Mikhail Lospenov has hit the ground running and is tearing this league apart.”

Early in the season, Mississauga has relied heavily on the youngster with his ice time being a significant factor in his performance. The drawback to the increased playtime, however, has been Lospenov’s lackluster showing in the defensive end, where he has narrowly kept his plus/minus in the positives at +1.

“Everyone is acting like this is a surprise that Mikhail Lospenov is on the ice when the Hounds are being scored on,” ranted Tybureaux. “This was in bold on every scouting report, I said it, every analyst who sat at this desk said it. This kid is an offensive threat and lacks on the defensive side of the puck. The positive of this is that we are seeing him play better in his own end with each passing game.”

Lospenov has recorded nine hits in as many game, proving that while not the most aggressive player, he is understanding that the VHLM demands a two-way role in order to remain successful from night to night.

The Hounds have struggled to earn wins in the early goings, but with a healthy top-six of drafted scorer, including Lospenov, fortune could quickly change in Mississauga.
