Odd, I have the green messenger icon and I feel like I've had it for a while. I also don't use launchpad so that's not an issue for me at all. I also didn't download apps from the app store so no worries there either lmao. Unfortunate that something you purchased got messed up though, not fun.
I generally don't download many third party apps for this laptop if they're not large enough to be constantly updated every time Mac releases new software updates that mess with stuff. It's why Wine stopped working for me, the new OS that Apple kept putting out would render Wine useless, and their team wasn't large enough/paid enough to keep up with the Apple changes. As much as I like Apple products for how nice they are to use and convenient their features are, I definitely don't like how difficult they make it for developers to keep third party apps going.
