  3. Above: Vasile Lamb puts on a New York Americans jersey and hat after being selected 1st Overall in the Season 82 VHL Draft Being drafted 1st overall is a ton of pressure, especially for a franchise that has fallen to the depths of the New York Americans. The team has failed to win a Continental Cup since Season 53, and in the process have becoming the punchline to what seems to be a never ending joke. Many prospects, including top draft picks, have come through the doors, to either be traded away, forced into retirement, or just not find any real success. However, Vasile Lamb, born in Romania, who discovered his love for hockey by placing NHL 94, showed that he had what it takes to make the jump straight to the VHL in his first stint in playing on North American ice while potting 60 VHLM goals in Season 81. Of course, he was still nervous. Many pundits and analysts predicted New York to have an abysmal season. Lamb did not want to be just another Red Lite, Thad Thrasher, or Carles Puigdemont, he wanted to be the one in an Americans jersey, hoisting the cup, and silencing all the doubters and haters. Upon his first visit to the big apple, Vasile was given control of the Americans' social media accounts, and posted a video stating "I just arrived in New York, wow, it's a nice city." In an introductory press conference, Lamb was asked about a number of questions regarding the season ahead, where Lamb chose to skip the developmental VHLE league, and make the hop straight up to the big leagues post-draft. Reporter: "What are your goals for the upcoming season?" Vasile Lamb: "I just want to prove my place in the league, and in this team. I'm not expecting to be a world beater right out of the gate, I just don't want to be the reason we're losing games. If you're making me get into numbers, I guess I'll say something like... 20 goals, 20 assists, and as many hits as I can get. I love to throw the body, and if the offense isn't there, that's how I am going to contribute." Reporter: "What are your expectations for the team overall? Are you going to make the playoffs?" VL: "Ah, well, I sure hope so. I'm not going to lie here, obviously this franchise has had some tough times lately. Like I said before, I just want to get to know the team, management, and everyone involved here first and foremost. I would like to see some post season action of course, I'm not saying that would hurt." Lamb was obviously not expecting playoffs, however, after the surprise signings of Jakob Sosa and Kristof Welch, he knew that this team was making the effort to improve the roster, and knew that they were inching towards success. He is an incredible prospect, and the New York Americans hope to finally find some stability, at least on the right wing, with Lamb, for years to come. Editor's Note: Before this article was published, Lamb finished the season with 43 goals, 39 assists, and a whopping 384 hits. Fair to say he exceeded his own expectations. (500+ Words)
  4. Warsaw Predators Press Conference Week Ending Sunday, March 27th, 2022 Answer 3 for 1 TPE, all 6 for 2 TPE. 1. With Vancouver looking like cup favourites, a threepeat imminent, and the league changing the way attributes are applied, will this Wolves team always be remembered with an asterisk (*)? 2. Do you follow any other sports other than hockey? If so, what is your favourite team in said sport? 3. If you could travel anywhere in the world (no covid restrictions etc), where would you go? 4. Now looking ahead to free agency, is there anyone who you think Warsaw should look to sign? 5. Did your favourite NHL team make any moves at the trade deadline? Are you happy with the trade(s) or no? 6. How do you feel about the Maple Leafs new reversible jerseys? Should more teams do something like this?
  5. Hello all, with Warsaw finishing up it's 10th season in the VHL, I think it is about time to recognize some of the franchise's best and most influential players from the first decade. All 3 of these players were the heart and soul of the Preds, bringing the team to the playoffs in every season they were on the roster, making it to the finals in S76, and culminating in S78 with a Continental Cup victory. Playing alongside them, I could not be happier to be the one announcing the ultimate honour, which is having their number retired by the franchise that drafted them. Without further ado... the retirements! Victor Grachev @KaleebtheMighty Victor Grachev was drafted in the 2nd round, 24th overall, in Warsaw's inaugural draft in Season 73. After spending an additional season in the VHLM with Miami, Grachev would quickly establish himself as a franchise defender with the Preds, earning a place in the VHL All-Rookie Team in Season 74. Throughout his career with the team, he would amass 119 goals and 370 assists for 489 points, all franchise records by a defenceman. His best season was in S79, where he scored 31 goals, had 70 assists, and was named to the All-VHL First Team. Victor Grachev will be remembered as the first true franchise defender in Warsaw, and many will look to replicate what he has done while the number 24 hangs from the rafters in Poland. Aloe Dear @Renomitsu Unlike Victor Grachev, who many could consider a steal, Aloe Dear was one of the most hyped prospects in the Season 74 draft. Although she did not get off to the hottest start in Warsaw while playing on the wing, it was the switch to the centre position that turned Aloe into a star in the VHL. Once at C, she exploded into one of the best players of her generation, amassing a total of 228 goals and 312 assists for 540 points in 432 games, good for 3rd in franchise history. This includes an absolutely laundry list of awards and honours, which include a Brett Slobodzian Trophy, Alexander Beketov Trophy, Scotty Campbell Trophy, Mike Szatkowski Trophy, All-VHL First Team in Seasons 77 and 78, and All-VHL Second Team in Season 79. Aloe certainly lived up to the hype after being drafted first overall, and will definitely be remembered as one of the most prolific offensive players to ever put on the blue and orange. Chris Reynolds @Crstats23 Not much hype surrounded Chris Reynolds on draft night, where he was drafted in the 2nd round, 28th overall, in the Season 74 draft. However, the scouting team of Warsaw saw something in him, and eventually Reynolds would prove to everyone that he was one of the team's best draft picks of all time. He played all 7 of his VHL seasons in Warsaw, amassing a total of 271 goals and 333 assists for 604 points, 2nd in franchise history, while playing 504 games for the team, the most in the history of the Warsaw Predators. In his final season, finally wearing the well-deserved "C" on his chest, Reynolds had the best offensive season ever by a Pred, scoring 60 goals and 76 assists, good for 136 points, also earning All-VHL First Team honours. Chris Reynolds will be remembered as a key player on and off the ice, and often comes back into the locker room, where he can now look up and see his number 7 hanging from the rafters. Congratulations to 3 great members and players!

  7. Warsaw Predators Press Conference Week Ending Sunday, March 20th, 2022 Answer 3 for 1 TPE, all 6 for 2 TPE. 1. The VHL Playoffs are under way, now into the 2nd round. Who do you think will be the Continental Cup Champions? 2. Looking ahead to the VHL Draft, are there any names that you'd like to see in a Warsaw jersey? 3. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres played in the Heritage Classic outdoor game at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, ON. Did you watch the game? How do you feel about outdoor games in the NHL? 4. Have you done a "game recap" point task yet? If so, how do you like writing them? If not, why haven't you given it a shot yet? 5. What player, NHL and/or VHL, do you model your game after? 6. NFL Tom Brady announced he was un-retiring and coming back for a 23rd season. Will he get another Super Bowl ring before he retires for good?
  8. 1) The season is officially in the books. Sadly, it's another season in the lottery for the New York Americans. As you are cleaning out your locker room stall for the season, what are your final thoughts on the season we just had? The season went pretty much as expected to be honest, there was a glimmer of playoff hope at the start of the season, but I'm sure it's better for the long term to gain some top prospects right now. 2) The league announced this past week it's big plans for the coming seasons. There are going to be new categories to roll your points into with the goal of eliminating the current meta. What do you think of the overhauled system and have you given any thought of how you are going to build your player going forward? I'm going to try to build my player the same as I have planned - a scoring, checking forward. Goals and hits are my goal, so hopefully I can get back to the likes of this season with the new attributes. I'm happy the meta is being abolished, it's healthy for the league as a whole. 3) In Canada they announced this week that in a week and a half masks will no longer be mandatory out in public. A lot of my co-workers have said they might keep wearing one now as the new normal. Do you think this might finally be the end of COVID and are you planning to stop wearing a mask or will you continue to wear one? I don't think this is completely the end, but we'll see. Masks will definitely be the norm for some people for possibly years to come. I think the hard "lockdowns" are a thing of the past. 4) What plans do you have in real life for this upcoming summer? A lot of people close to me seem to be planning trips now that it seems to be safe to travel again. If you could travel anywhere right now where would you want to go? Nothing planned yet, it's still so uncertain when and where we can go at any given moment. But if I could travel anywhere, California, Boston, and Japan are on the list. 5) In five years from now, where do you see yourself? Do you have any major long-term goals set for yourself in the upcoming years or you just living your best life? In a perfect world, graduated from University and working for a city. In 5 years I hope I have a bit more stability than I have right now. 6) What do you plan on doing with your offseason in the VHL? You gonna take a break for a few weeks or do you want to participate in the offseason tournaments like the Vicotry ProAm? Do you think the offseason is too short, too long or just right? As a GM, there is no break here. If anything, it's when the job starts. Draft/FA prep mostly. I don't think I'll participate in any off-season activities like the ProAM, sadly.

  11. Thank you for the recommendation, but I think @v.2 has a ton of experience with GM leagues, knows Los Angeles hockey inside and out, and has proven to me over the years that, as someone on the team I could always lean on for another opinion.
