  1. This season was, without question, puzzling and frustrating. When I set out to work to build this team for competition, I truly thought I had assembled a playoff contender. I had hoped with the forwards I accumulated and defense I’d assembled we’d be a fantastic team. We all had extremely high hopes, expecting Malmo to easily be a playoff contender. The buzz was electric before this season. There was a lot of hype and enthusiasm for our team, and we were ready to make our mark in S89. Unfortunately, that was a far fetched idea compared to the outcome of this past season. We tried as best as we could to tinker, analyze, and formulate new lines and methods of play to the best of our ability to win more. I watched to see who was available to bring in during the season and at the trade deadline. I don’t think I’ve ever switched up the strategies so many times, trying to find a groove for us to fit in and start winning. But nothing came. We continued to struggle and fell short of the playoffs this season. I ultimately can’t put the blame or reason on anything. There was no glaring error in any of our players or lineups. There was no smoking gun or individual who wasn’t meshing well. It was an enigma I failed to crack in time. As we now approach the off-season, heading once again to the golf course early, I end with a somber note. I’m sorry. I hate the fact that some people feel the season was wasted, because I worked hard to build this team to this point. I truly believe in each player in Malmo and feel that the potential is absolutely there. It just wouldn’t work out for us. And because of that, there’s probably going to be changes that I may not want to make. While most teams are now moving on to next season and moving past this, I want to at least take this media spot to pen out a sincere apology to the Malmo Nighthawks. None of you deserved to endure a season like this that ended short of our goals and hopes. It will get better, it has to. We will be better. I really believe Malmo will still have many competitive seasons right around the corner. I would feel incredibly remorseful however if we swept everything under a rug and ignored this past season. Your efforts to earn TPE, interact with each other, and push us forward were great to see. I am still proud of this team, what we’ve built here, and value everyone that dons the Nighthawks jersey. We’ve got more work to do, and we’re going to get back to our competitive ways very soon. Believe in this team, and we will go very far. Know that I’m working hard to ensure we come back next season as a playoff ready team. And get ready for the next wave of the Malmo Nighthawks.
  2. Ron Hextall, Reggie Leach, and Jean-Sebastien Giguere would like a word regarding being on the losing team
  3. The logo doesn't matter for inclusivity. The people and personalities do. I don't necessarily care for the logo being one design or another and really don't mind which one is displayed for any given time, but I do care about the people and our attitudes here. I feel like that is much more important.
  4. Mo Probert with the fists of fury in Malmo!!
  5. Honored to wear the C again for the Phantoms in my final season. Let’s go make this a memorable season Prague!!
  6. Of course Bobandy, I meant like a NHL player for the graphic haha
  7. Sure! Got a specific player in mind or want me to just cook?
  8. I am very excited to announce our leadership group who will represent the Malmo Nighthawks for S90! We have a fantastic group this season who are poised to compete for it all. Some new faces have been brought in, and a fantastic locker room has flourished as we prepare for our first game. While some faces return to a leadership position, we have a new captain to announce. So without further ado… A - Viktor Jensen @Advantage Viktor returns again to the group with an A, bolstering a great presence in the locker room. Jensen heralds command of the second line and looks primed to excel in the near future as a #1 center for the Nighthawks. We are thrilled to have him return as an assistant captain! A - Jacob Stone @scoop Serving as our captain last season, Stone returns with an A on his jersey this season. Not at all a demotion, Stone continues to bring a unique leadership mentality to the team that helps solidify our future. Committed to Malmo for the long term, it is again a great privilege to have him in this leadership group! C - Ash Sparks @DarkSpyro For the first time since coming here last season, Sparks will lead this group as captain of the Malmo Nighthawks. Call it a resurgence or a new step forward, Ash is ready to make his mark in Malmo and lead this team in the net to the playoffs. Without a doubt, he represents the very best of the Nighthawks team! LET’S GO NIGHTHAWKS!!!
  9. Dalkr Vidarsson playing in a Greenland Youth Hockey Association (GYHA) game. Dalkr Vidarsson was born in the small town of Tasiilaq, Greenland. From an early age, he idolized the great hockey players of nearby Canada, watching VHL greats compete on the ice and win championships. Coming from a pour family, it was hard to pursue the dream of playing in the VHL. To help make money to afford goalie gear and youth hockey fees, Dalkr spent time on his mother's fishing boat, Morning Starlight. It was here that Dalkr first learned to be quick with his hands and positioning, helping the crew wrangle in the fishing nets and moving quickly to avoid being hurt on the deck of the boat. It might not have been a luxurious childhood, living mostly on fishing boats or around fish markets and villages, but it was the life Dalkr knew and loved. It kept him sharp with his senses, able with his body and mind, and tough for hockey. There wasn't anywhere else he would dream of being in his life, for Greenland was home. When Dalkr Vidarsson first put on goalie pads, he showed he was a natural at the position. In his early days, he would rack up insane stat lines until he was finally directed to join the Greenland Youth Hockey Association. Because of his level of play, members of the GYHA felt he was ready to push up into the more premier leagues available for hockey players in Greenland. Upon his first couple of seasons in the youth hockey league in Greenland, coaches began to notice the elite level of play Vidarsson already possessed. They pushed him to train and work hard alongside the rest of the elites emerging from Greenland at the time, players like Leif Reingaard and Thor Reingaard. He was a big player for his age and continued to grow in that retrospect to the other youth hockey players in Greenland. From his time on the fishing boat - combined with his continued desire to become better in practice - Dalkr began to get quicker on the ice and excel in body positioning, agility, and rebound control. However, Dalkr was just a tad bit behind in development regarding the emerging wave of Greenlanders in the hockey scene. He knew he could be great, but no one seemed to notice. Dalkr tried his best, working harder and harder. But many teams simply never noticed him. He felt out of place while other players received the attention in the VHLM, watching as teams eyed the other Greenlander prospects. He continued to play in the GYHA, pushing out his best season as of recent with a stat line of a .936 SV% along with 11 SO and 2.21 GA. Seemingly, though, it was not enough to draw onlookers. While the rest of the great prospects began to prepare for their future in the VHLM, Dalkr ended this past season with uncertainty. He headed home, still determined to be great, but knowing that his time may not come just yet. While at home, helping still with the fishing boats, Dalkr began to realize he needed to decide what he wanted to do. Faced with the decision of trying to declare for the VHLM draft in S91 or S92, Dalkr was at a crossroads that could define his hockey career. He could declare now and join an already crowded draft class or wait for S92 and remain behind for another season. The Great Greenland Generation was already reported on and published, but Dalkr was not mentioned. The scouts were hailing the S91 draft class as world class, led by those greenland prospects mentioned before, but no one made note of Vidarsson. That is, until Dalkr had a chance to make a decision. With the help of his youth coaches, Dalkr submitted his name for the S91 draft class at an abnormal time, seeing if anyone would notice. Agents pushed out notifications that "Dalkr Vidarsson is primed and ready, eagerly awaiting to be scouted!" But no one seemed to see it. However, 2 days before the S91 VHLM draft, the AGM of the Miami Marauders finally broke the silence and reached out to Vidarsson to discuss his play and what he was wanting to do. They were surprised as well that Dalkr did qualify for the VHLM draft, as they were reaching out about simply joining the team due to Dalkr's unique timeline. This was the push Dalkr needed - he now knew someone had noticed him. He was getting scouted. With the VHLM draft fast approaching, Dalkr works harder than ever to prove himself and to show that a great franchise goalie can come out of the forgotten country of Greenland. While he may not go in the first round, teams would be hard pressed to skip over what could be one of Greenland's greatest goaltenders in the VHL.
  10. Man that was a great write up, fantastically woven!!
  11. DALKR VIDARSSON Position: G Number: 66 Age: 21 Height: 6’ 7” Weight: 222 lbs Born in the small town of Tasiilaq, Dalkr Vidarsson is a natural at the goaltender position in Hockey. He has an incredible ability to be agile in multiple positions regardless of his larger size. His rebound control is impressive, as is his ability to react quickly to shots from multiple angles. He highlights multiple strengths but does come with some aspects that need improvement. SKATING: Skating is mainly a concern for goalies operating in one position. While Vidarsson is quick in terms of reaction time, his skating could be improved. It tails just a tad bit behind his other stats but could still become effective with continued training and coaching. SIZE: Dalkr is a big goalie, tall and large while not overweight for his size. Combined with his quickness in front of the net, his size could prove lethal. He could still maybe pack on more in terms of overall size but the foundation is definitely there. AGILITY: This is where Vidarsson begins to shine. He's impressively quick and agile, able to move from post to post in lightning fashion. Even for being a younger goalie, there's already comparisons to HOF VHL Elite goalies. If he can continue to get even better here, Vidarsson will be scary in front of the net. REBOUND CONTROL: Another area where Dalkr excels, he very quickly reacts and aligns himself to keep rebounds at a minimum. Even if rebounds do occur, he often is in the right position to shut down any second chances. STYLE CONTROL: Among his other attributes, style control is one Dalkr is great at but not the best. Maintaining a hybrid style means being flexible in different situations. While Vidarsson does do a good job, there is always some improvements to be made as he makes his way through the VHL development leagues. HAND SPEED: Dalkr is quick. Very quick for his size. In multiple practices and games, he has flashed the glove more than once in an impressive display. Again, improvements could be made, but he's shown a unique prowess in this regard. REACTION TIME: Again a strong attribute for Dalkr, it combines with his overall agility and rebound control to show how quickly he can react to shots and situations in game. Like a hawk perched high scanning the land, Vidarsson easily tracks the puck and reacts to shots as they come in. Seldomly do pucks surprise him. The sky is the limit here for Vidarsson, and with continued improvement he could very well become a franchise goaltender for any VHL team! NHL Comparison: Corey Crawford
  12. Since I failed a trivia question, here's a review! Simple, clean, yet surprisingly in depth, this graphic really looks fantastic! I love the grainy texture overlaid over the entire picture as well as the faint background. The font is also great and the logo swap is done very well. If there was anything here that I could offer as constructive criticism, it would focus on the player. Their face just seems a bit air brushed and looks a tiny bit unnatural. However, that could have been the style you were going for, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. Overall, a strong 9.5/10. Well done!
  13. Dalkr Vidarsson sneaks into the S90 VHLM draft, who's gonna scout him? 👀
