  1. I disagree with your point made here but it does not mean I hate you as a person.
  2. You are right, the league should be accessible. However s it currently stands, or as of last season, we have players just over 500 TPE dominating the league and leading in scoring. This, in my mind, is a problem. In the right situation you can create a dominant player as a welfare+ earner. I think there is a difference between being accessible and that.
  3. Chicago Phoenix // Two Team Hall of Fame Inductions Jean Pierre Camus was the first ever draft pick in the franchises history at seventh overall in S73 and was the team's starter all the way from S73 until his retirement in S80. No doubt in my mind the best goaltender of this generation he achieved pretty much everything a goalie can achieve. Two Shaw trophies as the best goaltender in the league, a championship, a finals MVP and even a Slobodzian as the league's most outstanding player in his final season. Jean Pierre Camus will go down as one of the top goaltenders to ever grace the VHL. Matty Socks on the other hand may be one of the most underrated players in the VHL over the past 10 seasons. He was the second ever draft pick by the Chicago Phoenix when the team unexpectedly took him with the 22nd overall selection in the same draft that they landed Camus. Socks spent one additional season in the VHLM before breaking onto the scene with S74. While he may have never won an individual award the statistical pace he put up was pretty incredible. Between S74 and S80 he was the seventh highest scoring player, including forwards, and was second in shots blocked while mostly playing on competitive squads which is a huge feat.
  4. And here lies the problem. We had a shorter offseason before last season and it became absolute hell as a general manager to build a team both through the draft and a shortened free agency period. That was a very hard offseason to deal with as a general manager. HOWEVER if we begin to add more events to the offseason we are heaping more work onto already probably the busiest time of the season for staff. We added the lottery tournament to alleviate downtime and I see complaints that no one cares about it. We also have the World Cup and World Juniors which don't have a ton of eyes on them which I'm not really sure who that is on. STHS involved off-season events seem to take a ton of work and don't seem to have a huge impact on the lull.
  5. The Chicago Phoenix have no doubt been struggling this far through the season but that is not wholly unexpected. Management was very clear coming into the season, with both players and their fans, that this season would be the start of what they hope to be a short rebuild to bring the Phoenix back to the top of the standings in the coming seasons. With that said even with a rebuild underway there have been some bright spots on the team thus far. In their final seasons of their careers both Lee Xin and Christian Mingle are having very good seasons. Xin and Mingle, both lifetime Chicago Phoenix players taken in the S74 draft, have been cornerstones of the Phoenix roster for the past 7+ seasons. In what can be viewed as their swan song campaigns they are both averaging well over a point per game and are looking to put a cap on what could be a couple of Hall of Fame careers if the votes go the right way. As for new players Sunrise van de Schubbekuteveen is having an excellent rookie season with 12 points through 11 games as well as some great backend stats to back up the offense. There is a good chance he could be in discussions as a rookie of the year candidate. Look for big things out of Sunrise for many years in Chicago as he continues to develop his game.
  6. It is the start of a new era in Chicago with the Phoenix almost having a complete roster overturn this offseason. The only players that are currently slated to be returning from the main core last season are long time veterans Lee Xin and Christian Mingle who are both entering their final seasons. So that may raise the question who should fans be looking forward to seeing in the Chicago jersey this coming season? Probably the most exciting name will be first round pick from S79 Sunrise van de Schubbekuteveen @Thunfish who will be making their Victory Hockey League debut this season. The scoring winger will be paired up with the aforementioned Lee Xin and Christian Mingle which are the only other forwards currently listed on the Chicago roster. One thing that is for sure is it will be strange for Chicago fans to see anyone other than Jean Pierre Camus between the pipes for the team. Camus was the team’s first ever draft pick back in S73 and the team has since never had a different starting goaltender. While they currently do not have another goalie on the roster there will be someone new at that position for the first time in eight years.

    BIG ThREE

Camus and Socks are the real ones from this draft.
  8. JP Camus with the highest save percentage in a very long time. Man is an absolute legend.
  9. Craziest thing about Nous is that he only got his first minor penalty of the season in the last sim of the year.
  10. The Chicago Phoenix have continued to roll through the season and have eclipsed the 100 point plateau. While they likely will not be winning the North American conference, as they have in the past, they will be going into the playoffs playing very well. Of note is Julian Nousiainen who has passed the 100 point mark for the second time in his career, having an incredible 118 points with five games still remaining. Matty Socks, lifetime member of the Chicago Phoenix, has also hit 100 points for the first time in their career with an extremely impressive 29 goals and 71 assists from the backend. Add to that 161 hits and 149 shot blocks and there is definitely a possibility for some post-season hardware coming their way. While they have not been on the same kind of heater that saw them win 26 games straight at one point this season there is no doubt what the Chicago Phoenix have done this season has been very special and while they will be losing a large portion of their roster to retirement this offseason they can be proud of what they have done.

    DCD/WAR; S80

Us 100%. We have five players confirmed retiring this year.
  12. The Chicago Phoenix’s win streak finally came to an end after 26 games when the New York Americans took them down 4-3 in a game over the weekend. While this came as a shock to some it was an inevitability that the streak would at some point come to an end. With that being said since the loss the Chicago Phoenix have continued their torrid pace and continue to lead the league by five points over the Vancouver Wolves. What may be more impressive is the fact that the Phoenix goal differential is closing in on a monstrous 100, sitting at 96 currently. Julian Nousiainen, who is currently playing his last season, has set the league on fire and has 97 points in just 52 games which already almost reaching his career high in points which he set last season with 103. Defenseman Matty Socks is also having an incredible final season with 80 points in 52 games good for second spot on the squad. While the team is in the twilight of its current core they are doing their very best to make one final run and send these players out on top. While there is still plenty of season remaining and the playoffs are always a slog there is no doubt that the Phoenix are putting themselves in a great position to succeed.
  13. Well RIP. 27 game point streak now I guess.

      Your favorite Adele album??

  15. It has been an absolute pleasure having you backstop the Phoenix since day one. Now let's go out on top.
  16. As the current GM of Austin Towbaker this article has my mind in a pretzel.
  17. Well this is going well right now
  18. The Chicago Phoenix, ever since losing the first four games of the season, have decided they have something to prove and have been among the hottest teams in the league. Since starting the season 0-4-0 the Phoenix have managed to go 27-2-3 and are second in the North American conference as well as second in the entirety of the VHL. How are they doing this you ask? Is it a dominant defense? High scoring offense? Stout goaltending? It is actually all of the above. They are currently second in the league in goals for with 155. They are first in goals against with only 91 which is a crazy number because no other team has fewer than 103 on the season. They are currently being led on the score sheet by the duo of Lee Xin and Julian Nousiainen and on the back end by veterans Matty Socks and Kasper Kankkunen. In net Chicago career man Jean Pierre Camus is leading the league’s starters in save percentage, goals against average and shutouts. What has this overall team play led to? The Chicago Phoenix are currently on a 15 game winning streak and are closing the gap on the conference leading Vancouver Wolves.
