    1) London has started the year 3-0. At this current rate, they will never lose a game. Realistically, what do you think London's final record is?

Well, a bit late but yes, we did! I think we finish the season in a good spot. Currently doing very well. I say we finish with somewhere between 40-45 wins.

    2) Have you ever actually visited London in real life? If so what was your favorite / least favorite part?

I haven’t but my girlfriend went right before we started dating. She loved it, ill go someday.

    3) Who is your favorite teammate?

Have to say our deadly goaltending tandem!

    4) We recently shut out Davos 5-0. Will they even be a rival this year or are they too bad?

They are free points always! Jk I’m pretty sure they beat us after this
    5) Describe McWolf using an alliteration

    Great GM Good Guy
    6) Whose logo do you like the most in the VHL?

Hmmm. Big fan of the Malmo logo.

    1.  London finished last, but has the 2nd overall pick in the upcoming draft.  Do you think London will have a lottery pick next season?

I hope not. I think we’ve got a solid team, hopefully we’ll contend for a spot in the postseason!

    2.  Do you play a musical instrument?  If so, why did you chose that/those instruments?

Nope, tried to learn the guitar as a kid and a few more times since but I don’t have the patience.

    3.  Houston Bulls GM Rjfryman had a baby recently.  What do you think his middle name is?

    Fry

    4.  Which British car manufacturer is your favorite and why?

Damn, don’t know if I know any specific favourite. Is Jaguar British? I like those.

    5.  Sean Connery passed away on Halloween.  Should we have a James Bond 007 Theme Night on opening night?

Yes! Legend. RIP to that man.

    6.  Which question have you always been ready to answer, but never got asked?
oh man, I’ve answered so many. No idea

So on the 13th of October 2020, I had formally announced a goal of having more rep points than @VHL Games in this status update here:
    https://vhlforum.com/profile/4010-jigglygumballs/?status=4950&type=status

And on Monday, November 23 2020 , I had achieved that goal.

Only for my achievement to be robbed by that damn bot. Nowadays, It's a back and forth between me and @VHL Games.

I want to formally announce my rivalry against VHL Games in this short post. A declaration of war if you will. One day I will surpass VHL Games in rep points and I will come out victorious. This rivalry has just begun and it won't be ending anytime soon...

TheFlash reacted to ShawnGlade in What's wrong with the VHL and why it's not as much fun anymore
    Not even a clickbait title

For those that don't know me, allow me to give a brief introduction of myself. I'm ShawnGlade, member since 2018, GM'd Halifax and Davos before going MIA on the league for the last 9 months or so, popping in and out. Developed a toxic personality, apologized to everyone I beef'd with, and now here we are.

So recently I've been on and off with the VHL. I made SG3 and was super active, for about a season until I went semi-inactive again, which is where we are now. I've been planning a grand VHL return for any day now, but let's be honest, I've been saying that for months, and It probably won't happen soon. There's a lot of reasons why I do what I do, but I wanna list a few of them here. I really want to come back to the VHL full time, but it's just not enjoyable in this state anymore.

    - The Culture Change. When I joined the league, it was addicting because you were so immersed in the world of the VHL. People used your player name when talking to you, and there were numerous interesting articles on players to watch or how good the second round of the draft would be and debating who goes where and shit like that. Then in late 2018, early 2019 the "meme" crowd joined and it marked the turn of the VHL from a hockey sim, to a big circlejerk. Pop in the discord for 5 minutes and you're bound to see a few dick jokes or some weird inside jokes you dont understand. It feels less like a hockey sim league and more like a group of friends who happen to be in a sim league. It's gotten so out of touch with actual hockey, that there are chatrooms in the discord server that are VHL-talk only. Not just discord either, the forums too. Stuff like the roast threads or the town of salem games. Now, I'm not the fun police and I don't have an issue with these things, they're cool and people enjoy them. My issue is I'd see discussion about a random comment in a random thread rather than people talking about the Game 7 that just happened or whatever. Idk, maybe I'm yelling at clouds but it doesn't feel immersive anymore.

    - You ain't entitled to shit. I mentioned this in my "2 years" post a few months ago, but tenure doesn't mean SHIT on this site. Just this past summer, I was fully active for about 2 months without a job, and I got passed up on for an updater job in favor of someone who came back to being active THAT WEEK. I'm dead serious when I say I'm not convinced they don't just pick names out of a hat for jobs. The commish and BOGs hire people who are not cut out for the job and then pull a surprised pikachu face when they crash and burn. When I was a VHL GM, I was one of two GMs that wasnt a BOG. Every other GM was a BOG. Aka, I was the last to know about stuff pertaining to the job I had. I didn't know about expansion, until a full 2 MONTHS after it was approved. I would find out that we were expanding a mere 12 hours before the rest of the league knew. I was also the only GM without a second job. I'm not saying I have to have jobs or anything, but it gets ridiculous when everyone else is responsible for something important and I'm literally just a GM, and apparently not an important one either as I was always the last to know stuff. People who joined months or even years after me had better jobs than I did. I get people have skills, but fuck so do I but I was never approached for something nor given an outlet to showcase my skills. Fun fact, I'm proficient at Excel and I do VFX for money.

    - GMs kinda suck at what they do. There, I said it. I've been in almost every VHLM locker room and none of them make me wanna continue playing on the site. I'm not firing shots at VHLM GMs specifically, but fuck, those LRs are dead and I was not once convinced that I should definitely stay. VHL GMs are no different. Beaviss and Banakcock are very good at retention (Beaviss will not leave me alone until I claim welfare :P) but nobody else is. Davos practically begged me to leave, and some of the GMs now I knew from the VHLM and they are no different, just bland, boring robots. Iunderstand this is a bold claim and someone will have something to say about how their GM is the greatest so they get more ice time, but I seriously not seen less effort anywhere more than the GMs on this site. Also side note, did you know VHLM GMs make their AGMs do everything? The recruiting messages, the PCs, the Trivia, the locker room set up, good chance it's your AGM doing the work and the GM reaping the rewards.

    - League expanded too much. Part of the whole culture change, 16 teams in the VHL isn't even fun. I understand that it was a numbers issue, but holy fuck I've never seen my interest decline faster than when I see an expansion thread. Part of the reason I liked it was because 8 teams is a small, nice community. No matter what team you played for, it had history and almost felt like you were in a clan fighting against other clans. Now it just feels like the Be A Pro I could play on EANHL, but less developed and more amateur. This is one of the main reasons I left tbh. Now like I said, I hate the idea of expansion HOWEVER I'd be willing to look the other way for an Alaska or Colorado team as I'd most likely return to full activity just to GM the team. But 16 teams feels dishonest to the league's original culture, and I can never for the life of me understand why having people on the fourth line fighting for ice team is so much worse than forcing teams to field 2 lines of CPU players that fuck everything up.

Another season has nearly come and gone! While most teams are looking towards the playoffs, a select few are looking to the future and their next era of players. The draft is the most important night of the season for some teams. The right selection can be the difference in escaping the league’s basement or another season of more of the same. As it stands right now, the bottom five teams are pretty much a lock to be in the lottery. That sixth and final spot is up for grabs, with six teams ranging from 66 points (Davos currently holding the spot) to 70 points (Helsinki, who is all the way up at sixth overall). In last currently, we have LA with 51 points. Last year they were in the bottom of the league and selected fifth overall. Second last is London, sitting in the same spot they held last year. Warsaw again returns to the lottery in year number two for them, and New York is just a point behind them as the American’s begin their rebuild period. Chicago and Davos round out the final two spots in the lottery. In today’s article, we’ll look at the potential selections these teams could make on draft night, depending on their team needs!
This year’s draft isn’t as deep as previous years. We’ll only see about four or five capped players on draft night, and they won’t be capped by much. As of writing this, no players are currently at 250 TPE. That being said, there is some decent depth to this draft and teams will get some nice prospects throughout rounds one and two.

    1st Overall- Los Angeles Stars
At first overall, the Stars really only have one choice here. They have two S73 defencemen in Gumballs and Keef. They have a S74 D in Green. They also have their goalie of the future in Doug Dimmadome. So their only move is to grab a forward, and luckily for them, the best player in this draft is centerman Taro Tsujimoto of the Mississauga Hounds. Tsujimoto has been a force this year, scoring 43 goals and 102 points. He’s done a great job scoring, but he looks like he’ll be more of a playmaker. He’s currently tied for the league lead in assists with 59.

    2nd Overall- London United
The United are another team that have a pretty easy choice on draft night. They have a good group of young forwards. They don’t have a high TPE star, but they have a young core who is growing together. They have two defencemen though, and only one is active. So at 2nd overall, they’ll grab a defender and I believe it will be Muffbeav. He’s been an offensive defenceman for Yukon, scoring just under a point per game. This will give London a great young player to play with S72 player James Rose.

    3rd Overall- Warsaw Predators
Warsaw had the 1st overall pick last year, and took Aloe Dear who had a fantastic season for them. I believe Warsaw will look to go back to the forward pool in this draft. They have three solid defencemen already. Their best player is Dredge, who will go into his final season next year and will be hit hard with depreciation after this year. Pistil Stamen is having a good year in Yukon, he’s got 65 points in 60 games. He’s a player who likes to throw his body around, and looks to be a guy who not only scores, but uses his physical game to disrupt other players too.

    4th Overall- New York Americans
The Americans are a team who find themselves back in the lottery, after a few seasons of moderate success. Who they’ll select is a bit of an enigma. They don’t have a very young group of forwards, but the two high end forwards in this draft are gone. They could go with left wing Joe Kelly, who only scored 11 points in 60 games this year. He does project to be a very good player at the next level though. Last year, they took defenceman Markus Schauer in the first round, and do have S71 Hugh Jass (who is having a career year with 79 points so far) although there are rumours that he could be moved to a contender for futures. I ultimately think they’ll go D here, and pick the man known simply as L. L is one of the top earners in this draft, coming in at number two on the leaderboard. He’d be a great replacement for Jass.

    5th Overall- Chicago Phoenix
Chicago’s pick here is pretty simple, they need D. They have four right now, but only one is active. They’ll take Jolly Green Giant, who is having a great year in Ottawa. He’s got 55 points, 241 hits (2nd in the league) and 146 shots blocked (3rd in the league). He should be able to hit the cap by next season’s start, as he’s just over 200 at the time of writing this article.

    6th Overall- HC Davos
Davos might not be in this spot come draft night, as six teams are within the range of Davos. Only four points separate these teams. But for now, it’s Davos. Davos is in a good situation, they have some really good forwards, and one of the leagues TPE defenders in Roque Davis. I think they’ll go BPA here and take Joe Kelly. Kelly had an odd year in the VHLM, only scoring 11 points. He’ll do well to grow with the team and become the high end player he’s forecasted to be, playing in a no pressure situation.

And that does it for this year’s lottery mock draft. As I said, not a ton of high end talent this season, but some decent depth beyond the players I listed here. It’s a good year to need a goalie, as there will be four goalies who top 200 TPE by the draft, all created by reputable updating members.

    1. We currently sit 22-25-5 at the time of posting, good for 7th in the North American conference. Which place do you see us finishing in?

the lower the better! Team tank baby!!

    2. We have the 7th best "goals for" in the league, why do you think we have been scoring so many goals?

I’m not sure. I think we’ve allowed the most though, so that’s probably our downfall.

    3. Reflecting on the theme of "Dream Teams" last week, who is 1 player in VHL history you wish you could have played with?

Would love to have been on a PP with some
    of the defensive greats.

    4. With the recruitment drive bringing in hundreds of new members, do you think the VHLM should expand? Where should the next team be?

i think we need a team back on the East Coast of Canada!

    5. I don't think I've asked this before, but when and how did you get into VHL?

many years ago. I’ve been a member on this site since 2014, but I was in the OG VHL and other sim leagues long before that. Don’t remember how I even got into them tbh

    6. The LA Lakers won the 2019-20 NBA Championship. Is LeBron the GOAT?

I’ve been a member of the New York Americans for four seasons now. My current players entire career. But there is so many before me who came and went, doing great things for the team only to be forgotten by the ever turning hands of time. So I thought it would be fitting to dig into their history a bit and see who the best of the best were! When I got to looking, I realized there were a lot of highly skilled players who came for a season or three and then dipped out. Do those who never really served their time deserve such accolades? No, they don’t. So my team will consist of only players who spent a minimum of four seasons in New York (tried to do career players but we don’t have a lot of them!). True, loyal Americans. Here is my list! Three forwards, two defencemen and a goalie!
    Forwards-

    LW- Essian Ravenwing.
Ravenwing was an American from Season 51 to Season 55. His first season in New York was his second in the league, and wasn’t that impressive. After that though, he scored 79 points and then had seasons of 99, 91, and 106 before moving onto Riga for two more fantastic seasons. Ravenwing ranks 18th all time in VHL scoring with 685 points scored.

    C- Unassisted
Unassisted spent his final four seasons in New York, and is arguably the greatest player in VHL history. His four seasons in NY he put up 137, 135, 122, and 93 points. The first three seasons he played elsewhere, were all over 100 points. Unassisted sits fifth all time in points with 806 total points. He’s one of five to ever score over 800. He is the only one of those players, however, to play seven seasons instead of the full eight. Falling just 49 points shy of the all time lead, it will forever be an enigma as to why he hung them up early.

    RW- Diana Maxwell
Maxwell spent five seasons in the 50’s with New York. She, like her dream team counterpart Unassisted, is in the top of the leagues all time scorers, sitting at 7th. In her five seasons with the team, she put up three seasons of 116+ point campaigns, including an incredible 137 in season 53.

    D- Lance Flowers
Flowers was a second overall pick by New York in S67. Offensively, he was a force in his final few seasons scoring 68, 70, and 63 points. Flowers makes this list though for being the teams all time leading hitter with 1541 career hits, and third in shots blocked with 764.

    D- Bobby Digital
The oldest player to appear on this list, Bobby Digital was drafted by the Americans in S49, pick unknown. He went on to play 7 seasons with the club, having some great offensive seasons in his final years (including a two season stretch where he amassed 155 assists and just ONE goal in two seasons). He is currently sitting comfortably as the teams all time leader in shots blocked with 850

    G- A Red Guy
Have to give the all time goalie to A Red Guy. Through and through a loyal player, Red Guy spent his whole six season career in NY, retiring early just when his numbers were best. He had an incredible final season, posting a .928 Save% and eight shutouts on his way to winning goaltender of the year.

(Two honourable mentions for goalie. One is Jakab Holik, who only played two seasons in NY but won 90 games with a save percentage of .930 and a GAA of about 1.5. One of the all time greats for goalies. The other is Ike Arkander, who spent all of his five seasons here. His final two, he won nearly 100 games and put up numbers similar to Holik in SV% and GAA.)

    1. We are 4-4-1 after 9 games at the time of writing, 2nd in the North American
Conference. How do you feel about that?

A bit surprised? I went through each team and had a quick look at their players the other day. Think I ranked us somewhere around the bottom 5 or 6. But glad to see we’ve been competitive

    2. Defenseman Hugh Jass has been incredible so far, with 16 points in 9 games. Will he eclipse his 61 points set last year?

Sure hope so! Was shocked to score 61 tbh, so I’m just enjoying this run while I can. Don’t expect it to stay at nearly 2 ppg.

    3. Do you have any pre-game superstitions? If so, what are they?

Refresh the forum like a mad man around 6pm

    4. Through 8-ish games for each team, which has been the most surprising start, good or bad?

we’ve surprised for sure. I think things will even out league wide though.

    5. If you could relocate one VHL or VHLM franchise, who would it be, where would they go, and why?

New York to Washington DC. Americans makes more sense in the nations capital!

    6. Dallas vs Tampa, Stanley Cup on the line. Who are you taking, and in how many games? (DAL leads 1-0)

Liking Tampa. But could go either way. Since my blues are out, I haven’t been watching.

Well, looks like it’s end the of an era in New York. A team that definitely had some ups and downs over the past few seasons is now seeing a lot of their talent age out and move onto greener pastures. Acyd Burn and Julius Freeman, two players that were acquired two seasons ago and were big pieces of the teams success, have retired. Their starting goalie, A Red Guy, announced his surprising retirement two seasons early despite having his best season yet.

It’s safe to say New York will have a rebuilding year and will hope for lottery success. They have the 7th overall pick this season, their first 1st round selection since the S71 draft, when they selected Hugh Jass in the same spot. Before that, their only other high selections were in S68 with the 2nd overall selection of Lance Flowers, and in S65 they took Carles Puigdemont who was a bust, only spending two seasons in New York before leaving and becoming inactive.

Goaltending won’t be their focus, as they’ve got two young prospects who will both compete for the starting job. Look for New York to try and offset the loss of some fire power up front by taking the best available forward that falls to number seven. Luckily, there is a solid number of recreates at the front of this draft, so they are very likely to get an active player who can slot in one day one of next season.

Hopefully luck is on their side, as they’ll need a couple of nice lottery picks to bring back the success they’ve grown accustomed to over the past few seasons.
