  1. ....but Moscow and Helsinki. Sorry, be less good or bad. 3 days and the S87 regular season is a history. Just like 6 unlucky (or not so) teams are about to be a history earlier than they were wishing. Though half of them are more interested in the first overall than anything else. And in case of the NA conference the remaining schedule is likely going to be a formality. It's gonna take some major ''effort'' for Seattle or Chicago to choke their lead on NYA. Europe on other hand.... ...speaking about the bloodbath. I'm not going to jump into the immediate conclusions. But the S87 EU conference certainly should be one of the tightest the league has ever seen. Before the last sim only Moscow and Helsinki were sure about their future. The last one did change things a bit. Another team managed to pull away from the rest of the pack and I think it's just going to be right to talk about them first. Davos Dynamo Remaining schedule: Warsaw (H) DC (A) Vancouver (A) Riga (H) 2x London (A and H) Honestly, I had a doubt that they will hold on given that they were not the most exciting team at the offense. And lots of their games went beyond the regulation time. There was a fear of some loss streak that could've ended their hopes. However, not only they managed to hold on, they actually ran away from the rest 5 teams. They are 5 points ahead of Malmo who is sitting third. I'm not ever sure if they ever were out of the playoff at any point of the season which is pretty impressive. That's some consistency. Playoff chances: I like their chances. I don't see sim fucking around with them and Davos will most likely avoid the wildcard round. The last three games will be very interested to see. Both Riga and London might be at the do or die position so I'm curious if the OG purples are going to keep the foot in the gas before the playoffs. Malmo Nighthawks Remaining schedule: Chicago (A) London (H) 2x LA (both A) 2x Prague (both H) It took 40 plus games until they managed to climb into the playoff zone. I was having a feeling the the horrible start of the season was too harsh and they should be way closer to the party. And that what's exactly happened. I think they never left the top 5 after that....kind of mini Davos thing right here. In overall though, I'm feeling they are kinda there since they went winning ways. It's a sure contender, but is there something more than that? I'm not sure. Playoff chances: that's why I'm predicting this team to fall...to the wildcard spot. One particular team might be able to overlap them despite of a tough schedule. However, despite of some flaws this team has I do have a feeling they can hang on. Sure, the schedule is not easy by any means. Games against London and Prague are pretty much 6 pointers (yes, 6 not 4. things in EU are THAT muddy). Losing these games would do huge harm to their playoff dreams...but the other EU teams are just inconsistent as hell. Nah, Malmo will be fine. Riga Reign Remaining schedule: 2x Moscow (A and H) Vancouver (H) Davos (A) 2x Helsinki (both A) The main impostor of the conference. 6 other contenders were out there preparing for a good battle...and the Riga happened which made things even less clear. Sure, DeGroot factor has propelled Riga into the stardom. But who knew that after trading Rory Riga will be heading even futher up. Though, the last couple of games were indicating that the team might have blew their load after embarassing New York and now are just trying to scrap for points. Anyways, the work that has done prior to that is enough to still be in the hunt. Playoff chances: the next 4 games are not making any easier for the team. The last 2, however might provide enough boost to squeak into the post season dance. And it's also still possible that Tucker can steal a game or two again so I'm going to be neutral here. Anything is possible at this point. Warsaw Predators Remaining schedule: Davos (A) Moscow (H) 3x Vancouver (2 H, 1 A) Calgary (H) Chicago (A) You would thing that a team with likely a future Szatkowski award winner will have no problem in making it. Welp...this was not the case. Their offense is indeed talented, one of the best lineups in whole league. However, their back line and especially Wumbo are offsetting their efforts with the iffy performance. Despite of being the third best team in goals (maybe even a 2nd since they have a game in hand vs Prague) their goal diff is only +12. I think Wumbo's time in Warsaw may reach the end point sooner than later. Playoff chances: so...4 games against the top 3 with three backup games left. Davos isn't an easy walk either. Oh boy....for some reason I think their forwards will pull this team into the third place despite of a brutal schedule. Don't even ask me why. Unlike the other team with a talented offensive lineup, I think it's Warsaw that will have a better ending here. London United Remaining schedule 3x Calgary (2 H, 1 A) 2x Davos (H and A) Malmo (A) At some point they were as high as the first in conference. Not for long though. Like other teams not named Moscow and Helsinki they were deep into the royal rumble and as of this moment nothing is certain. Well that was some generic description I guess. If trying to get more deep into their season...inconsistent and somewhat mid at times. Their main players are doing fine, but no one is doing the hard carry there. Though, shout out to Chiang for a good career ending stats. Would suck if this will amount of the lotto tournament appearance. Playoff chances: unfortunately, I do feel this might be the case. The schedule is pretty tough plus they still have 2 backup games to play. And I do question their ability to have a good stretch. One game good, one game bad, all of that jazz. You just dont lose to Toronto at this stage of the season if you want to do something. And with me believing that Warsaw is finishing above London (and couple of other teams too) I just have a hard time to belive they will finish this season strong. Prague Phantoms Remaining schedule: 2x Chicago (both H) 2x Malmo (both A) Toronto (H) DC (H) The most bizarre team out of bunch. Sure, the horrid start of the season sucked and is indeed a factor of their current record. But the winning period has pretty much fixed all of their issues and I was thinking that we're about to have a three way race to the top between them, Warsaw and Moscow. Then L5 happened. I was not sure what the fuck that streak even was, but as of right now Prague has never managed to fully recover from that odd loss streak. Playoff chances: Toronto, DC. Chicago is also winnable. You would think they shouldn't really worry about their placement 3 days after. But no, I just can't be fully sure about them. The recent loss to a NYA who is on downward ways kills any of my confidence. Let's say they are capable of making the huge W streak right at the end, but I won't make a bet on this. Alright, enough talking here. Such fights are great to see as a bystander as well as it's stressful for GM's who are in this shitstorm. Well, maybe except of me, my expectations were already met so we're having fun now. Would be great to make it though. Anyways, good luck everyone and looking forward to a barn burner ending of the EU season. That's it and I'm out.
  2. 1. What's your thoughts on the trade deadline? Decent. some interesting trades were done including ours 2. How has the loss of Tavish DeGroot affected the locker room? minus one active memebr sure gonna make locker a bit more quiet. other than that the team is still a believer so its fine 3. Riga is currently 4th in the Euro conference - how does this compare to your expectations? good season. if anything this shows how much potential do we have despite of lower average TPE numbers 4. What's the message to the team being a young rebuilding team potentially heading into the playoffs against more experienced teams? just have fun. we will get it sooner than later 5. Spring Training started for the MLB. On a scale of 0 to 10 how much do you actually care and who's your favorite team if you're answer isn't 0? well then...0. 6. What is your dream vehicle? I'm a simple man. I see audi or bmw - lessssgooo!
  3. 1. It's been over a month since I did press conference, am I a bad AGM? be faster than me then 2. What's the attitude in the locker room not knowing whether Riga will sell or buy at the deadline? cool calm collective. if not this season, the offseason is the time 3. There are 3 points between 2nd and 6th in the conference- what's the key to making sure we come out on top? score more goals than opponents....duh 4. What type of player do you think is missing from this group that makes the team a contender? right now 1D and couple of higher end forwards 5. What's your expectation for the NHL Trade Deadline this year? will columbus sell enough 6. Are you ready for winter to be over yet? yes indeed. its getting depressing already smh
  4. So yeah yada yada once again trivia is shit so here's some random stupid rambling cause I need 1 TPE so the quality of this piece is according to the TPE amount I'm about to claim also fix your shit trivia heads HOW IS LAS VEGAS NOT THE TEAM WITH THE MOST PLAYOFF APPEARANCES IN THE VHLM HISTORY YOU BUMS. So yeah yada yada Riga is actually doing decent. This is the rare moment when middling record is a pleasant surprise. Even with DeGroot the expectations weren't super high. Lots of raw talent that needs to develop before super stardome. Even with that, London and Malmo are feeling unsafe as we are just couple of points outside. Maybe it's me that need to buy now? In fairness, the higher end talent and goaltending was the main reason why we're still in it. But hey, they're actually doing their job. Should be even better in the future. Sadie is also starting to pick up some steam. The points deficit among rookie was cut to 3 points and this form could be enough to take the reigns before game 72. Fingers crossed! Oh yeah, AK is a bum ass I'm disappointed. if you don't end up at 1 PPG at least... rambling done That's it and I'm out.
  5. 1000+ words with spoilers so w2 claim gonna be here
  6. When it comes to my rivals, there are some members or teams that make more sense in the current climate. However, I'd like to come back in time and make a brief rewind about my first ever personal rival. The first and perhaps the only team in the VHL I was used to dislike a lot. Most weird thing is that wasn't even about members that were used to play there at that time. It's just more about I hated losing even more than now and they were handing me couple of L's. Some of them were actually painful too. Though there were some revenge cases as well so it wasn't hopeless for me. But even aside from wins or losses; for some reason I was feeling negative towards that team right after I started to hang around the VHL more often. Although once again, it had nothing really to do with members. Just there was something that was throwing me off about that squad. Anyways, let's get into this and point out most focal points of this rivalry. S47 - *feels coffee pepe emoji* By that time I was already being a decent welfare player and Zep was a fairly decent second line option. Calgary was for sure glad when I decided to sign them in FA. Things were going fine. The team was securing the playoff spot way before 72 game mark and we were preparing for the good playoff run. All was good...until we met that team in the conference finals. 2-0, 3-2. We had more than one chance to close it out, but series still went to the decider. And even with that, we had a 2 goal lead with 4 minutes to go. All of that just to blow it all and be eliminated by a late seconds goal by Jorma fucking Ruutu. I guess now you can figure it out why feels coffee emoji was brought up here. Anyways, this is the moment I started to feel a real disdain against that team. S49 - back to back baby Sweet revenge came in shortly after. By that time however, I was already in other NA team named Toronto Legion. We were going in for the two peat, but Quebec had even more impressive regular season. So we had to go through the rival team before making to the big dance against Meute. Long story short, the conference was a Legion and Meute show and others weren't invited in it. Our opponents included. 5 game series reflected that perfectly. What's most important - I got my revenge on them. It wasn't the last chapter of this, however. S52-53: Dead Bear Back to back losses to them in same playoffs stage....ugh. I continued my NA tour with my new player Guntis Petenis. This time, with Seattle. The team was pretty good actually, but lack of depth kinda was hurting us at that moment. But my rival wasn't exactly the deepest team either. Also, with the worse goaltending in S52 (TPE wise). Nothing helped - 5 game loss in first time. And even less pleasant 7 game L season after. Being 2-0 up in game 7 just to lose in OT...almost a deja vu. Except they managed to come back in period 2 and then score a quick decider in OT. My dislike against that team grew up once again. S54 - you stole our goalie! Well, not exactly. And there was no clear idea about contending for Riga (I just became their GM), but I needed to make a half clickbait title. Ironically, the goalie in question is Jakab Holik - the player we shared the same Seattle locker in previous seasons. There was not much market for him and there was a decent chance I'd somehow grab him...before that team came in and made some moves to sign Bek. Needless to say, I was wishing nothing but curse on them. S58 - OG Meta goes hard Hard to believe, but this was the last time I met them in the playoffs. No matter if it was Riga or any other team my player was playing in. That team was decent, but there was just no match against the Locke meta that Riga was running at that moment. So once again, my win wasn't dramatic at all - it took 5 games to dispatch them. Nevertheless, I was pretty happy with this outcome. Just like I metioned before, this was the last time I had an encounter against them in the playoffs or in any other situations. Sure, trades and such were happening between us, but with no evil thoughts between each other. As they entered the long and dark (and as of now, never ending) medicore period my dislike against them gradually disappeared. The only other time they had a chance to re ignite this feeling was S72, but it was Calgary that took the finalist spot from NA. It's safe to say my emotions toward that team are long gone. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you which exactly team I was talking about all this time. That's it and I'm out.
  7. 1. One week later, we're still pretty close to a playoff spot! In your opinion, does it makes sense to buy players? 2. Theme week related, which team or which player has been your biggest rival in VHL to this day? 3. As of this moment, Weaver is sitting 5th league wide in shots made. Do you think he can hit 450 shots this season? 4. Sadie as the rookie leader in points after 72 games - yay or nay? 5. Do you think rookies having tougher time to score a lot in hybrid era? 6. Are you happy Chiefs won?
  8. I think I can make some conclusions already. 24-25 games are enough for that. BAD PAIN When your goalie is playing lights out for the most part. When your goalie even had .940 at some point. When you are the fourth (or maybe even third) best at goals against...and you're still sitting almost at the bottom with the negative record. You know this ain't it. Kennedy stimulus only can you get you as far as 10 wins in 25 games. And I'm sure things are gonna get even worse from now on. Just look at the roster and you will figure it out why. Special sadness rubric - how did Zaza fall off from being a huge part of London meta to being drown in New York's mediocrity. But hey, at least there's a light at the end of tunnel. Both MDM and Reilly contracts are expiring following this season so maybe there's a chance to bring actually some legit scoring options. MID....again??? I promise, I'm not rubbing salt on the wound after our matchup last sim. It's just DC is actually mid again. Trying to make strides with limited amount of weapons is just not gonna cut it. All I see is Vidot/Lamb and Bubbles are trying. Then there are others, some of them also are trying as hard as they can. And then there are some interesting characters...like that one forward who is yet to register a point. While playing in the first lineup. Plus having a #1D with the undercooked build and it's the result this team is showing. It is going to be a hard fight for the coveted 5th place. Their only hope likely is Seattle crumbling down the road, which is not out of possibility honestly. Gotta push more I'm not going to speak much about them because I believe they can do better. And probably they will. Just need a second line to wake up for once. Especially that Bob Vladovechsenkchuskin dude. So far it's being a real struggle for the Russian. I certainly was expecting more from him after having pretty solid seasons with Calgary. GOOD Only 2 defs? No problem! 1/3 of the season is done and LA is still up there! Sim engine is making a further proof that even going with two defenders is a good idea if it helps the offense. Miglasķēms is leading the way once again, just like two seasons ago. Vandelay is back on track, just like two seasons ago. Only difference between these cases is this time LA is having a really good chance of making the post season. Avoiding the wildcard is also a possible scenario as some NA teams are really middling this season. Who could've thought after a such disastrous last season. Out from mid? So far so fine for a team which was predicted to be a middle of the pack squad by the elite analysist. Which is me of course. By the looks of it, there is no real standout players. But with Chiang looking for a banger farewell, Retoslav trying to break out and couple of other players sitting around 20+ point mark; this team is doing everything to avoid the wildcard round. Or even worse, the playoff miss. The only iffy thing is their consistency. You just don't lose to Riga twice while not scoring a single goal. Gotta work more on focusing on each game. Easy ride. Just making a shoutout to teams who shouldn't have any problems in making the post season. Vancouver only lost 5 times this season so far and Janser is doing what everyone were expecting from him. I'd add into this mix too. Despite of very tight race in EU, I don't think this team will ever choke in this regular season. By the way, if I had a neutral section too: Warsaw - kinda pedestrian record right now, but I think they will be fine. Expecting some W streak sooner than later; Davos, Seattle - these teams, however are kind of streaking downwards. The fact that Davos already went 7 times out of regulation time is making this even more worrying moment. Seattle isn't striking a confience either. Riga - cooled down a bit, but I don't mind this scenario either. Good to see we're still in the mix. AK - 25 in 25 is alright I guess. Need more though. Enough. That's it and I'm out.
  9. 1. As of now, we're still hanging on with a fairly decent record. Do you think we couldve done better? 2. What's the most surprising thing about this season for you so far? 3. Who do you think will miss the playoffs from EU conference, outside of Helsinki ofc. 4. I couldn't bring Sano III back so I spent a second rounder for an inactive. how much of a failure that move was? 5. Did you watch NHL All star event? Did you enjoy it? 6. Your opinion on Bo Horvat trade?
  10. Just 11 games in so it doesn't matter much. Just some overreaction thing here. GOOD Last 2 games sucked, but a 7-3 record is nothing to scoff at. I know IR was worried about running with 2 defensemans, but I think this gave forwards more chances to shine. Might be too extreme, but for real. Why not. There is still a good time before trade deadline so it's always possible to switch to 5/3 or 6/3 if things don't go well. But I think it's worth to test the current setup. For a team that was supposed to grab another lotto pick. A 7-4 record is a pretty strong start. This result was mostly being done by the first line, DeGroot and Tucker. Things might cool down by mid season, though there is always a chance if I decide that we're ready to squeak into the playoffs and buy players. Also depends on rookies development and how quick it is. One thing for sure, we're going to the right direction. Vidot and Lamb So far this duo is putting numbers as it was advertised before the season. The lack of depth in forward lineup freed lots of space for these two. And it certainly works as both of them are finding themselves on the top of the points leaderboard. Good chances for either of them to grab a Szatkowski award. In Lamb's case, a Boulet too. If only the rest of the team was doing things. Defence I knew this is going to be their strength. But even with that I kinda under rated them. Looks like they are not interested to play around and will do everything to make the playoffs again. As of now they are second in least shots given (with Chicago only playing 10 games, so pretty much the best in SA). Time will tell if their offensive production is going to stay more or less decent. Regardless, their defence and Dusty are going to keep them in the fight until the end. BAD Yikes. Even excluding their unlucky loss to Riga things are just not great at all. Clueless Wallob is clearly playing...like a Clueless Wallob and most of the team is kinda lost so far. And once again my worry about Greg being a first defenceman is only intensifying even further. I think going with 6/3 but with Kovalchuk was a better option than what they're having now. I'm sure things are gonna get better, but I don't see them return to the last season form. Now this is just unfortunate. They're actually playing a fine game for the most part, but only 1 regulation win in 11 games is just depressing. Anything their offense is trying to produce is getting offset by countless penalties. As of now they're tied first in PIM's (with Moscow??? huh?) which is just not great stat to have. I think there is still a potential to enter the playoff fight, but this start is certainly going to sting. AK92 With da Hoodie FUCK YOU. 8 points in 11 games wtf are you doing????? That's it and I'm out.
  11. 1. As of this moment, Riga is sporting a 7-4 record. Is this a surprise for you? 2. Are you happy with your performance so far? 3. The Riga MVP so far in your opinion? 4. Who did you pick for David Knight award and why it's me? 5. This post will be this thread's 1000th! Any celebration plans? 6. Always was wondering, any of yall watching MLB? and why?
  12. People trying to reach 500 word count in captain threads for 0 TPE payouts. Ouch. Meanwhile I don't have much to say cause quite frankly, there is not much changes going on. Except for the addition of the newer future star in Sadie St - Louis. So here it is! C - Daniel Weaver @ThePerfectNut A - The Frenchman @OrbitingDeath A - Henry Tucker Jr. @NSG HC - Sadie St - Louis @sadie Don't forget to congratulate them as always!
  13. to think I was a "clicker" with my first player for the most part
  14. I got corona. So here's a lazy article. Nothing much to say though. I do want to tell something, however. Riga was represented so well in rookie award nominees. 3 out of 4 were coming from our team. Guess who won it? John Jameson???? Who the hell is THAT? Delete that player from portal and delete @Frank as well while we're still here. How dare he to take awards from us???!!?? Unacceptable! Anyways, the offseason is about to end. Wednesday is the projected season opener although I feel like for me the offseason may not end that quick. Something is brewing in the air, but for now I will keep it in secret. As for our team, I already did pre season rankings so you know what's up. But I do have a moderate excitement about this. First of all, we should get more than 18 wins. That was our result last season. Our forwards are gonna frow pretty quickly so I think we will have something going on towards the end of the season. Is it gonna be enough for the playoffs? Probably not, but I think writing us off immediately isn't an option either. And you know, trade deadline deals are always a possible scenario too, though I don't wanna sell my farm for that. So we shall see. By the way, clicker finally got the chance to be signed. One of last year rookie nominees Gus Bentley signed with Davos to replace inactive Marconi. Less TPE, but pretty fine build for a 5th or 6th forward. By the way, he was Davos prospect before getting sent to Riga. Now it comes full circle. Now onto another players who could be signed. Would Toronto or Helsinki take the advantage of the temporary rule by the commishes? In fact, I do have one inactive to cut as well. But for now I'm waiting. I messaged two of them so waiting for responses. We shall see how it goes. I do wonder where is Freddy Freeze is gonna sign though. Most of teams do have a backup and the cap situation is still there. Can any team even try? Anyways, we did get a good solution for this season. Now it's onto the higher ups to come up with something more fundamental as the non retirement offseason is going to creep on us in two months. By the way Spartan told it's not an expansion not the cap space raise. Okaaaay?.... I did listen some part of Ahma cast today just cause I was mentioned there. Basically they said I'm loyal cause of my 30 something plus season tenure in Riga. Well, that's an interesting fact. Though I have to say I'm indeed not testing FA very often with my players. Matter of fact, I don't even remember when did I go to free agency here. I think...with Zeptenbergs when I re-signed with Toronto in FA? Slam dunk decision by the way. Neither I'm going to FA much in other leagues. My last ever player in sim leagues I went to FA was Lupatlasis in SBA and that was years ago. So yeah, I guess I do have some reputation as a rather loyal member. @Spartan 's anxiety has lessened after reading this paragraph as we speak. I think that's enough for today. That's it and I'm out.
  15. 1. what are your thoughts on ''clicker players'' struggling to get signed by any VHL team? 2. do you agree with this decision by commishes to tackle the clickers current problem? 3. do you think the VHL season will have the most parity we've ever seen? 4. however, can the next season become even more parity based considering no one will be auto retired after this season? 5. are you happy with the VHFL team you have now? 6. is mid season the most boring part of the season? cause I think it is
  16. Hockley Mann already signed with Helsinki
