  1. 1. I've liked it here 2. Just hanging out with the guys some more 3. Most under rated goalie because I think people have lower expectations of me 4. Sterling Silver Strong 5. I want to have a great season and I want all of them to do their absolute best 6. Everyone here has great potential! 7. Idk I don't pay attention to the in office stuff
  2. This is Jase Hill reporing on a exciting prospect Mike Sterling has been one of the more interesting prospects to watch throughout the S74 season as despite being a young player in the VHLM he posted surprisingly good stats with Mexico City. Getting just below a .900 save % and a 2.82 GAA is far better than anyone thought he would do. Not to mention he posted 2 shutouts in 12 games which overall is very solid. This season he'll have the chance to prove he is the real deal with Halifax. He has a solid lineup in front of him he is just going to have to adjust to the new role of leading a team and be more of a force this season. He is far from the best goalie in the VHLM o he'll definitely have a up hill battle in front of him. Sterling was quoted saying "I really think we have the tools to be one of the best teams in the league for a long time" He also likely isn't getting called up any time soon as Warsaw (the team that drafted him has Ajay Krishna who will likely be the starter in Warsaw for a long time!
  3. 1. Well you drafted me 2. By playing well and showing you all I am going to be a great player for this team 3. Playing some Ball hockey with the boys 4. No celebrations just planning on improving 5. Hitting up the ODR 6. Connect 4 I am godly I'd kick all their asses 7. Practice hard and try to bond with my teammates to have the best team possible 8. Doesn't matter all that matters is that I am starting!
  4. 1. Sadly no we tried our best but in the end I think a lot of our guys are young and need a bit more time to develop 2. Get as good as I can continue to practice and work my way up 3. I'm excited as I really do believe I will be a valuable asset to any team I join 4. Stay home and see the fam 5. Ball Hockey is a passion of mine... gotta keep improving 6. Yes honestly we had a great squad who worked hard and did surprisingly well
  5. 1. Playoffs is playoffs! It's what we do there that counts! 2. Shut down defense play a low goals series and we will be able to win 3. We came together as a team and we worked on the areas that needed help 4. I get my spot on the bench nice and cozy (I'm likely not getting any starts lol) 5. We've got a great group of guys here, honestly great locker room environment and a team that all really like each other 6. Emerson he's really got to shut down if we're gonna have a shot
  6. This is Great! Mike Sterling gonna become a GOAT!
  7. Craig Button doing Weekly team by team status reports for next season. Today we're starting with the Marlins How this season is going: Poorly to say the least this is a team that wants to improve from within and hope to improve next season Above 90 TPE players -Hoffman LW -N D -Switzer LW Significant Gains for S75 Mock draft has them getting - 1: Rara Rasputin (182 TPE currently) A solid #1 goalie who will be around for 1 maybe 2 years before call up - 8: Ryan Ryker (146 TPE currently) A solid 1st line RW who will complement the depth on LW well - 13: Nero Endrizzi (113 TPE currently) Versatile 1st line Center for them Significant Losses: - Prout (A very solid defenseman) (To draft) - Fletcher and Hasek in Net (Likely can improve on these 2 in the draft) What they should do: After those picks pick up some depth in later rounds will lead to them having a solid roster for the coming season. They need to completely rebuild their defense as they lose all their defenders to the redistribution draft. They will likely be looking to move players like Prout for draft picks to ensure depth in the coming draft The first 2 round of the draft allow them to establish a solid line of Hoffman(112) - Endrizzi (113) - Ryker (146) which will become a power line in the 75 season with Rasputin in net they might be a serious contender!
  8. Craig Button here with the VHLM draft predictions: The redistribution draft is still a ways off but it is looming so let's take a look at the VHLM and which teams are going to grow and teams that are going to regress. This is an early look so things are bound to change for season 75. (These picks are based on analysts decisions of who best suits the needs of the team.) This comprises the first 2 rounds of the redistribution draft PICK PICK OWNER SELECTED 1 SD Marlins SD Marlins Rara Rasputin 2 Houston Bulls Houston Bulls Kunibui UnGuri 3 Minnisota Storm Minnisota Storm Jolly Greene Giant 4 Miami Maurauders Mexico City Addison McLaren 5 Philly Reapers Philly Reapers Cabe McJake 6 Ottawa Lynx Philly Reapers Scotty Kaberle 7 Mexico City Mexico City Silas LeFriend 8 Yukon SD Marlins Ryan Ryker 9 Saskatoon Saskatoon Vivek Weiner 10 Las Vegas Las Vegas Mike Sterling 11 Missisauga Houston Bulls Red Lite 12 Halifax Saskatoon Louis Louchard 13 SD Marlins SD Marlins Nero Endrizzi 14 Houston Bulls Houston Bulls Vladamir Mlinski 15 Minnisota Storm Philly Reapers Robert Bouchard 16 Miami Maurauders Yukon Justin Lose 17 Philly Reapers Philly Reapers Kaladin Kvothe 18 Ottawa Lynx Mexico City Teppo McBighit 19 Mexico City Mexico City Zachary Sirois 20 Yukon Miami Marauders Owen Taylor 21 Saskatoon Saskatoon Kevin Wu 22 Las Vegas Yukon Michael Schmitdt 23 Missisauga Miami Marauders Trent Gibson 24 Halifax Minnisota Storm Vick Fairchild Let's talk about what these projections mean for next year's draft! Winners: SD Marlins: They secure a top notch goaltender and a solid first line! This is likely going to lead them into being a competitive team next year as if they draft like this all they will need to do with the picks in the 3rd-7th round is pick up some depth to fill out their roster. I wouldn't be surprised if Rasputin leads them to being a top team in the league. Las Vegas: A very strong team this year but they are losing some key forwards and their starting goalie to call ups for next season. They do correct this however as Mike Sterling is seen as a top notch prospect Goalie and has already posted 2 shutouts which is surprising for a goalie just starting in this league. The reason I see them as winners is they are able to fill the hole they really need to for this next season. However a consideration at the draft might be to move up to one of the Top 2 picks to get a already developed goalie in exchange for Mike Sterling who will be in the VHLM longer and a forward that has got at least 2 years left in the league to help that team build instead of rushing. Losers: Miami Marauders: Despite having some late picks to round out their depth they are really going to miss Rasputin's services for the team as he likely goes 1 or 2. As a team that has already struggled this season picking between Sovick and Gibson in the net is a bit rough as they both likely need another full year of development before being stand outs for the team. The issue is they lose a top defender in Bryne this year and likely lose a lot more after next year's season. They need a goalie for next year which to put it simply they do not have. Ottawa Lynx: Talk about a team who is banking on internal development. This team does not have a pick in the first 5 ROUNDS! That's insane especially bc they are probably losing Phillyfan and definitely losing giant. This means their pack end takes a huge hit of 2 200+ TPE players. Ottawa better hope they win this year bc it's a long ahead of them as they'll continue to lose players this season and next with nobody coming in as even remotely suitable replacements.
  9. 1. As long as our guys keep focusing and playing our best we should start catching them. The good news is playoffs are pretty much guaranteed. 2. Hey I'm doing my best! I haven't been perfect but for a backup I haven't done all that bad 3. That's a difficult one because I really do see our time to win as next season. Many teams will be losing their top stars while we will hopefully be able to retain this team with our draft picks. I'd say maybe a 100= TPE LW but I also think that can be acquired at the draft. 4. No! I love it here in Mexico City, great management and great bunch of guys. 5. Our team seems to have a little extra motivation against teams that feel confident! It's a fun little term we throw around before games to get pumped to go Streak Busting 6. Taco personally
  10. How does experience factor into the sim?
  11. Coming into a brand new league at a level higher than what you are used to playing is bound to have struggles of some kind. Sterling had his debut for the Mexico City Kings today and the showing had mixed results. In game 229, the Mexico City faced off against Los Vegas in a close 4-3 loss for Mexico City. This game did show promise however as Mexico City was phenomenal with their special team going 2/7 on the PP and 5/5 on the PK. Sterling's start was rough as he allowed 4 goals in the first period on 14 shots. He was adjusting to a new team and new league it was obvious there was a learning curve. However, Sterling recomposed himself in the 2nd and 3rd period making 25/25 saves and giving his team a fighting chance against Los Vegas. A total of 35/39 stops isn't a bad start for the young goalie and you know he plans on following it up with an even better performance in his next game as he won't have as much of a shock. Michael Sterling was asked this after the game Reporter: "Sterling are you upset with the results tonight?" Sterling: "Honestly no, I knew coming into this game this would be a tough one. They are a good team and having to adapt quickly proved difficult. Overall I do think I was able to turn it around however and I think I gave management and my teammates hope for our next couple years working together." Reporter: "Since you guys are in a tough playoff race do you think you should have started Emerson?" Sterling: "No management made the right call starting me. Emerson has been working his ass off carrying this team and getting him rest will be beneficial for his game and the overall team. He had lost his last 4 games and I think it was because he was overworked. No he got a game off he was able to win decisively against Mississauga."
  12. First time even trying to create an image so go easy on me
  13. 1. No way! Especially with all the improvement management has made here over the last while! Expect Mexico City to challenge to win it all in the playoffs! 2. Definitely! Management has really built for us to be successful for a long time coming and given us lots of depth in every position! 3. Saskatoon is a little out of reach but I definitely think we can catch those clowns who call themselves "The Yukon Rush" 4. The locker room! We've got a great bunch of guys and a great atmosphere and a general sense that we're the scrappy underdogs here to take it all! 5. The Toronto Legion for sure! They Currently have guy in that starting goalie position but when he retires I think I'd make a great option to help them out 2 seasons from now! 6. I see it being the 8 teams that are currently there! When it comes to a battle in the playoffs I think we will go deeper than most people expect!
  14. Mexico City is a new team and city for some of you, and for others it’s your second season. How does it feel to either be here for the first time or coming back for a second? What are your goals for this season? The offseason has brought in new management. How does this change make you feel for the future of Mexico City? If you had to pick a training partner for this season, who out of your new teammates would it be? What’s your favorite animal? If you had to be drafted, or redrafted today, which VHL team would you want to be drafted by? (This is a great opportunity to look into the VHL teams.) 1 - Yeah honestly coming out of the OWBHL and coming to play in this new league is daunting. Luckily I have the opportunity to learn from one of the best goalies in the VHLM in Emerson and I really feel like this city will be a good fit for me for a long time! I'm excited to get a couple of starts to help Emerson stay rested up for playoffs and learn as much as I can from him. 2 - Just improve. I know I'm not the starter and I'm honestly fine with that. I hope to be able to take a couple Ws for my team and hopefully get us a even better spot in the standings 3 - Honestly as a newbie coming in I have gotten to meet the management staff and they are all grweat guys who seem to know what they are doing in terms of building this team. 4- Markus Emerson 100% he's where I hope to be in a year and has been a phenomenal goalie for this team. He's an inspiration and will likely be one of the best VHL players in history 5- My 2 dogs Iggy and Gizmo are amazing so it's gotta be dogs 6 - Probably the Toronto Legion as a goalie like me is just what they need and it's close to my home town of Ottawa!
  15. Scout Jameson FIver with what could be the biggest sleeper pick of the draft A year ago today you would've looked at this guy and said no way he has any shot at becoming a VHL player. His numbers just weren't there and the lack of success he showed in the OWBHL were an automatic no on the drafting board. This last season however we saw a whole new side of Sterling. The beginning of this season was more of the same, as a member of the Grey Geese he had little to no help defensively and started the season 2-2-1 in a 20-game season. Although his underlying stats were drastically improving, facing 50+ shots and usually allowing 2-4 goals. At the 6th game you could tell he was done with the team however as he faced 68 shots and they lost 6-1 to the Black Lightning. After the 8th game Sterling was traded to the Black Lightning as they lost their goalie to an injury and they were impressed by what they saw. Sterling then proceeded to go undefeated for the remainder of the season posting a .920 save percentage as a member of the Black Lightning. Now came playoffs somewhere he had never had success. He was able to steal a game from the blue wave in the semi finals as they won 1-0 trailing in shots 34-22. Then came the finals against his old team the Grey Geese he was able to stand his ground for a 2-0 victory as they took home the OWBHL trophy. He also posted some time in the OPHL but was given limited ice time due to having a star goaltender being the starter. His improvability has been shown especially as he had a coach with the Black Lightning was able to help him majorly improve his game. He should be a great future player in the VHL given the right type of support around him. You have to wonder if signing with Mexico is the right play for him. Sterling is reportedly extremely happy to be there but he likely will not be the starter until 76. "I think it keeps the pressure off me, I can just work on improving my game in the ways I know I need to" Sterling said to reporters today when his contract was announced. He is earning a 1.5 Million dollar cap hit and I can imagine that this young guy will be very motivated to become a future star for the team that gave him this chance.
