    1.  With the season almost halfway through what can you take away from what’s happened so far?

    2. The meta is one of the hottest debates going on in the VHL at the moment, what are your thoughts on it?

    3. Are you hyped for the return of the All star game?

    4. What is your favorite soft drink and why?

    5. If you could take the team to a concert of a musical artist of your choice who would it be and why?

    6. If you had to live with a teammate for the rest of your life who would you choose and why?

tinafrombobsburgers got a reaction from Phil in Calgary Wranglers press conference
    1. Wranglers are capable of going all the way, we are notorious for having up and down regular seasons but we have shown we can compete and dominant anyone in this league when we are on our game.

    2. Something that needs to be fixed or monitored but I feel like there will always be a way to cheat a system.

    3. Yes! Very exciting and just another way to help engagement in the league! Players will want to work towards that honour!

    4. Iced Tea! Delicious, refreshing and even better hard.

    5. Nickleback! It would be an absolute riot for obvious reasons!

    6. Reylynn Reinhart would be an obvious answer so I’ll go with my boy @Phili think we could just get drunk and watch sitcoms and entourage all day long.

tinafrombobsburgers reacted to Ledge in S75 Dream Team
In honour of this group of players playing out their last season, and for most, their last week of TPE earned, I thought I'd make a dream team made up of solely players from this draft class. In an effort to include and honour everyone I can, I'll be expanding the roster to include 2 forward lines, 2 D pairings, and two goalies. We have to assume that due to risk of injury this dream team consists of 4 goalies. It's best not to question it.

             Now, onto the lineup:

Nathan Perry - Taro Tsujimoto - Justin Lose
    Cabe McJake - Linus Zetterstrom
    Thadius Sales

This is a powerhouse line. Although we have a shortage of franchise left wingers, we can make do.

Nathan Perry has had nothing short of a fantastic first gen career. After winning the S74 Founder's Cup with the Miami Marauders, he went on to have an illustrious VHL career, amassing 223 goals and 478 points over 472 games. Following being drafted by the London United, he was promptly dealt to the Calgary Wranglers, where Perry found chemistry with his new linemates and flourished, collecting his first point per game season in only their second. This season, as the Wranglers gear up for yet another playoff run, Perry is on his normal PPG pace, with 22 goals and 51 points in 40 games. His updating has been solid over the seasons, and he looks to close out in the shadow of 1200 TPE.

Taro Tsujimoto has rarely not been the TPE leader of this draft class, from the very beginning. Gustav's second player, almost in the ironic mold of Ryan Kastelic's 'too much TPE', despite having truckloads of the stuff throughout his career, only put up 100+ points once, in his Scotty Campbell-winning S80 season, where he notched an incredible 46 goals and 114 points. Tsujimoto has played just short of 550 games so far, and has amassed 291 goals and 667 points. After a long and somewhat disappointing seven seasons with the HC Davos Dynamo, Taro was dealt to the Seattle Bears, where he looks to chase a cup in his final season. As I'm writing this, he has 1499 TPE, and I can only imagine he solidifies his legend in the coming week by surpassing the landmark total of 1500.

Justin Lose actually had a pretty similar career to Tsujimoto, although the trade that lead to his big break came a little earlier. Lose's 5 seasons with the Riga Reign, who bought into the S75 draft class with all of their savings, were, accompanied by all the other S75 Reign draftees, underwhelming. Lose only breached PPG in his third season, but his total of 252 goals and 537 points reveals a big jump in his points recently. That can be attributed to his whirlwind of an S81, where he put the puck in the back of the net 72 times, and also grabbed 70 apples for an insane 142 points, and in the process he captured the Campbell, Szatkowski, Slobodzian, and Brooks awards. All. In. The. Same. Season. That alone could put him into HoF contention, which would be a great reward for Lose, who worked his ass off earning more than 1400 TPE over his career.

Cabe McJake is the true definition of a disgraced star. Even as a first gen player, he rivalled Gustav in TPE at his prime earning points. But alas, the member behind the player proved to be the downfall, and Red was banned from the VHL a season or two ago. That doesn't prevent him from making this team, however, since McJake achieved some incredible things throughout his career. After joining the Marauders as a waiver claim, he quickly became the cornerstone of the Waiver Warriors, who would go on to upset the number 1 seed Halifax 21st on the way to capturing maybe the craziest underdog story of a Founder's Cup ever. McJake was awarded the Skylar Rift trophy. After his VHLM stand, he joined the same Reign as Lose, and fell under the spell of mediocrity, never passing 91 points. He is now toiling out the rest of his inactivity in Davos.

Linus Zetterstrom has always been a quiet player. As a pass first defencemen, he really had no other choice. He is the only player on this line not to receive a single award (S76 Stolzschweiger is a touchy subject). After a relatively silent minors career with the Las Vegas Aces, he exploded with tons of ice time for the Reign, notching 74 points in his rookie season. His career high in points was 86 in S78, and he never really came close to that again. Ever loyal, he spent his whole career with the Reign, suffering through every single cursed season. Now that the Reign have a brand new core, and Zetterstrom is, for almost the first time in his career, not a number 1 defenceman, he looks to win a Continental Cup in his final season.

Thadius Sales is undisputedly the superior goaltender of the S75 draft class. His VHLM stand was underwhelming, and not a proper reflection of what would come for Sales. His career is largely tainted by the eternal tire fire that is the New York Americans, only visiting the playoffs twice in a five year span. Last season, he was dealt to the Vancouver Wolves, where he was able to thrive under a capable defensive core. He helped the Wolves to their second straight cup, gathering the Clegane and Shaw trophies on the way. His 1330 TPE can put most others in the draft class to shame, and his 220 wins (which I think is a lot) and other cool goalie stats (I don't know how to read goalie stats) seem to project a solid, successful career. Sales is chasing after the threepeat with the Wolves this season, and they might just do it.

Second line! I disregarded positions because I was going to do 3 lines but the activity falls off and I wanted to squeeze everyone in (sorry hedge and molholt)

Robert Bouchard - Pistil Stamen - Dan Dan
    Chicken Wing - Isau DaMoose
    Kunibuni UnGuri

Robert Bouchard is another ultra-loyal player, having stuck with the Prague Phantoms, his OG draft team, for seven seasons of his successful VHL career. After showcasing his torrid scoring ability with the Philadelphia Reapers, Bouchard slowly crept his way up the Prague depth charts until he scored 109 and 105 points respectfully, in seasons 80 and 81. His pace is a little off in his final season, perhaps due to the influx of talent into the Prague system, but the Phantoms are gearing up for another cup run in Bouchard's last lap. He scored 221 goals and 539 points across his progression, which is nothing to sneeze at. He represented Team Canada at both the World Juniors and World Cup, and won the Founder's Cup with the Reapers in S75. There will surely be a hole in the Phantoms locker room with the retirement of 'The Bouch'.

It would be rather difficult to guess the first overall pick in S75, as the GM player rule was not yet intact, so GMs could reserve their first rounder for their player. Pistil Stamen was eventually picked first, and he has rewarded the Los Angeles Stars with eight seasons of solid production. However, it was only recently that he developed his scoring touch in the VHL, as he scored 112, 109, and 112 points in that order in the past 3 seasons completed, and he's on pace for another considerable amount again. His VHLM career could be easily overlooked, as well as his first two seasons. But once he gained his form, Stamen was a beast, leading the Stars through a lengthy playoff run in '79, nothing 24 points in 14 games. He will retire likely a smidge above 1400 TPE, a significant accomplishment.

Dan Dan is an outlier. Believe it or not, his big season is coming in the current one! The old man is putting on a show, with 34 goals and 87 points in only 40 games with the LA Stars, after never reaching even the 90 point mark with the Helsinki Titans or Calgary Wranglers. His VHLM career was also mediocre, with an exciting 90 point campaign the only real accomplishment. He had bouts with all three teams previously listed, and surprisingly never really found his footing, especially with Helsinki. While he hasn't collected any awards yet, his trophy case is likely about to get a whole lot fuller after this season, especially if the Stars find a way through the Metawolves. Nevertheless, Dan's 503 career points are surely worth something somewhere to someone, and it's certainly a hefty amount.

Chicken Wing is the only defenceman on this line, largely due to the leaving of gorlab a few seasons ago. Nonetheless, Wing was able to gather themself an impressive VHL stand. They unfortunately caught the down part of the Americans' rebuild, and therefore has a disappointing lack of playoff experience. They still were rock solid in the regular season, twice breaching point per game and even scoring 26 goals in their sophomore season. In S81, their 63 assists and 82 points set a career high, although we may see that broken after this season. They were awarded the Jake Wylde award in S80, and won the Founder's Cup with the Waiver Warriors of Miami in S74. Now with the Warsaw Predators, Wing looks to help the Preds make a push for the playoffs in their retirement run.

Isau DaMoose is listed here as a defenceman, because I didn't want to just give him an honourable mention. He deserves better! The forward has had an exciting career, riding it out with the Riga Reign for all seven seasons. He largely suffered the same fate as Lose, Zetterstrom, and McJake, as somehow that Reign team never got their feet on the ground. Despite all of that voodoo, DaMoose still managed to gather 40 goals 3 times and 100 points once, and is on pace for another big season as he leads the young Reign forward group into what we hope is finally a successful playoff run. DaMoose is familiar with those, winning the S75 Founder's Cup with the Reapers as teammates with Bouchard. In S80 he had an exceptional run with the Mercs in the World Cup, with 19 points in 11 games. He will finish with comfortably more than 1300 TPE.

Kunibuni UnGuri is the final player and goalie on this dream team. It breaks my heart not to include Klam and Tretiak, but there are only two spots. UnGuri has been the backbone of the HC Davos Dynamo for his entire career, and despite a sometimes dismal defensive core in front of him, never let his save percentage dip below .910, which I think is pretty damn good. Of course, Davos has never been super successful in the playoffs, so UnGuri has had to settle for 19 total games of postseason experience. He made a mind-blowing 15 thousand saves throughout his career, which is something probably not many other goalies can attest to. As is common knowledge, goalies are voodoo, and UnGuri drew the short straw when it came to STHS luck. His career is still something to be proud of.

Well, that pretty much sums it up. From the beginning, even after the retirements of Kaberle, Gobeil, Muffbeav, and McLaren, the S75 draft class still managed to churn out at least twelve successful VHL careers. I remember always thinking to myself, wow, this is truly an exceptional draft class. There is so much depth even beyond these twelve players, and it is hard to believe that our journey together is coming to a close. I, and as I imagine some of you mentioned in the article, are planning on retiring and creating a new player next Monday. If so, this is my farewell. It has been a wild ride, one that has lasted, like, a year and a half. Frankly, I'm going to miss Linus. I've dedicated so much of my free time to advancing him through his career, and although the results were mixed, it was a super fun time. Cheers to y'all, and here's to making S84 the best draft class the VHL has ever seen!

There are too many members in this league that I would have on my dream team. I could pick the ones who have had the most successful careers or even look at some legends and choose from that list but I don't think I will. I am going to pick members I just have a genuinely good connection with and make a team of people I would actually want to be apart of.

Left Winger - Nathan Perry @tinafrombobsburgers

Most people who know Tina also know that he is my brother. He was kind enough to stick out the majority of his career with Calgary even if it was at the detriment of having a successful career and winning trophies elsewhere. My brother and I have a life long friendship and no matter what I have got his back and I know he has got mine. Aside from a personal level he has also been a steady presence in the Calgary Locker Room. He has been apart of the captaincy group for a long time now and finished out his career in that same group. The captaincies are usually decided on by the team so that goes to show that everyone else thinks highly of him as well. There are plenty of choices I could have had here but Perry will always be my first one.

    Centre - Steve Eso @Eso

Eso is not someone I have met in real life. I acquired him in a trade many seasons ago from a stacked Chicago roster who didn't have space for him. Their loss was my gain because Eso came into Calgary and was instantly one of my favorite users to interact with. He came in with a great attitude and fit in really well with the group of players that we had in Calgary. Over the time he spent with us in Calgary until the time I shipped his a$$ off to Malmo, we spent a lot of that getting to know each other. Everything from hockey, to camping, to fishing and our kids hockey there were no shortage of good things to talk about when he was around. A genuinely good person and that is why I am selecting him as my dream team Centre.

Right Winger - Phil The Rock Johnson @Phil

Ya ya I know! Total homer of an article but guess what!? It is my dream team and Imma do what I want! My dream team has to include this guy. Phil is a long standing member of this league and over the course of the last 5+ seasons he has grown to become one of my favorites. He has become an absolute die hard in Calgary, so much so that he wants to spend the remainder of his career in Calgary and has expressed that too me each and every time I check in with him about his player and the plans for their future. I love this kind of dedication from anyone and it makes a guy feel good knowing that you have created a place that someone really enjoys being in. Phil is a legend in this league and a legendary team mate in Calgary. Easy decision to slot him in to my RW dream team position.

    Defense - Tom Eagles @Greg_Di

So many good people I have come across over my time in Calgary. Greg is absolutely one of those people. A man of few words but when spoken have a large impact. I hired him on as my AGM for the past few seasons and I have come to rely on him heavily for advice in this game. I can stray away and get crazy with trades, drafts and free agency but I always had him to keep me centered and make sure I was making the right decisions. From a player standpoint he has been a rock for Calgary his entire career. His numbers fluctuated from season to season but he never complained even once about that. A true team first player and for that I am grateful. Tom Eagles is my first choice defensemen for my dream team.

    Defense - Reylynn Reinhart

Yes this is weird that I am picking my own player but it is for good reason. How can I have a dream team with these incredible people and not want to play along side them? I am choosing Reinhart when she was a defender because then she fits perfectly into this lineup. Its an honor to play along side these good people so I am slotting my self into the final defense position.

    Goaltender - Thadius Sales @thadthrasher

Wait what? A non Calgary player?????? How could this be? Well not every good person plays in Calgary so my final spot on my dream team goes to Thadius Sales. Thad and I have had a really good relationship ever since he joined this league. Everyone loves Thad and I am no exception. He is just a genuinely good person who is very easy going and a pleasure to chat with. I feel like I could chat with Thad about anything going on in life and he would be happy to listen. I hope one day with any future player of his that I get a chance to bring them to Calgary (is this tampering?).

Well there you have it, my dream team! There were a lot of snubs unfortunately but its tough to choose only five! Cow, Sam, Zetterberg, Prout and so many others I would love to have on my dream team too. Theres a ton of good people in this league and I will take a good team with good people over a Meta team any day.

    1. So far yes! Perry is having a solid season and with the likes of Nasherov and Reinhart doing their dominant part, perry doesn’t have to brunt the offensive load like previous seasons.

    2. Love the new format! Was easier and just overall a cleaner set-up great job by the league.

    3. I would like to see an up and comer get a shot! Maybe someone who’s worked in management in the VHLm or E and wanted that next stepping stone.

    4. Team Plane for sure! Poker table is already set up! Much faster and easier to sleep on.

    5. Daniel Janser! Beast of a rookie season so far!!! Can’t complain, offensive , hits everything and is responsible defensively.

    6. Damn that’s an interesting question, I think in the general sense not much significance unless it’s something obviously very outlandish but overall you are what you make of yourself. Your life will be determined by how hard you work and a little bit of luck.

    Calgary Wranglers Season 81 Awards

Another great season has wrapped up for the Calgary Wranglers but before we move on to the next one I would like to take a moment to show some recognition to the players for the season we just had. A season full of ups and downs saw the Wrangler's finish 3rd in their conference and win their first playoff off series in quite some time. Ultimately they fell short but they look primed to take another step forward in season 82. Now let's get to the awards and the players who deserve them.

    Top Shelf Award

This award is given to the player who leads the team in goals scored during the regular season. This player finished the regular season with 51 goals which is the highest I have seen so far during my tenure as Calgary's GM. He spent the majority of the season manning the second line which makes it all that much more impressive. 51 goals is a new career high for him which is 12 goals better than his previous career high. Congratulations to Gutislav Nasherov @Vat on winning the Season 81 Top Shelf Award!

    Rybak Trophy

The Rybak Trophy is all about who led the team in points during the regular season. This seasons Top Shelf Award winner Gutislav Nasherov @Vat also led the way for the Wranglers in points as the only player to finish above 100 points. He finished with 51 goals and 50 assists for a total of 101 points which is a new career high for him as well. He beat his previous record but 24 points! He really did make the most of his opportunity last season and put up an elite performance each and every game. Congratulations Nasherov!

    Young Buck Award

Prospects are an important part of any organization as they are the players who will shape the future of your franchise. The Young Buck Award shines line on one lucky prospect who showed the most potential to become a future star in the VHL. The recipient of the Young Buck Award for season 81 is Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser. Janser spent season 81 down in the VHLE split between the Oslo Storm and the Istanbul Red Wolves. He was a leader in the Oslo Locker Room as he carried the majority of the work load for a bottom feeder team. His talents were highly sought after and was later traded to the top team in the league in Istanbul. He played more of a depth role for the Wolves but his point totals aren't what make Janser such a special player. The amount of work he puts in, on and off the ice are what make him stand out above the rest. He doesn't take a week off from his training, is constantly checking in on how Calgary is doing and has been chomping at the bit to get his chance to move up to the big show. This is why Daniel Janser is the season 81 Young Buck Award winner!

    Sheriff's Badge

It is fitting that this player receives this award time and time again. This is his third consecutive Sheriff's Badge and I am starting to run out of things I can say about this player to explain what he has meant to this organization. He is as selfless as they come, always the voice in the locker room to congratulate the team when they're doing well and the one to pick the team up during heavy slumps. His personal game has had its ups and downs but never lets that get in the way of his team first mentality and will always put his team mates ahead of his own needs. He is going into his final season as a Calgary Wrangler and when his time in the VHL is over he will be sorely missed. Congratulations on another Sheriff's Badge Nathan Perry @tinafrombobsburgers

    Last Line Award

The Last Line Award is given to the top defensemen during the regular season. This past season the Calgary Wranglers picked up a young defensemen who had been given up on by the Seattle Bears. Well their loss was Calgary's gain as this player was exceptional during his first season with the team. He finished second on the team with 89 points which is 30 points higher than his career high. He also led the Wranglers with 76 assists and was a steady force on the powerplay all season long. Just when you think that offense if what this guy is all about, think again! He had a plus minus of 28 which is +53 better than his previous season and led the team in shots blocked which shows how committed he is on both ends of the ice. Congratulations to Erlantz Jokinen @jRuutu on winning the season 81 Last Line Award.

    Jubis Memorial Trophy

This next award is given to the player who demonstrates the best potential at long term success in the VHL. This could be on the ice or off the ice as a user. This winner of this award is already an established, long term member of this league. He is being given this award because his player has demonstrated that he has the potential to be a force in this league for many seasons to come. He came into this league as a rookie last season and had to step into the role of the top line center fairly quickly. It was a lot to ask of a young player in this league but he stepped into the role and lead this team through a roller coaster of a season. He has proven to management and his teammates that he is ready take the next step in this league and I am excited to see what this next season will bring for this young player. Congratulations Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream on being award the Jubis Memorial Trophy.

    Most Valuable Wrangler

The Most Valuable Wrangler is decided on my the players on the roster. The vote this season was very close as the nominees for this award all had exceptional seasons. The player awarded the Most Valuable Wrangler for season 81 is none other than Gutislav Nasherov @Vat. The statistics speak for themselves. He led this team on the ice through a wild season. His play on the ice isn't the only thing that stands out about this player. He is also a big hit in the locker room with his teammates. The comradery with his teammates off the ice creates some amazing chemistry on the ice. Anyone he lined with found success and that's because he helps everyone around him become a better player. It is an honor to have your peers think so highly of you which is why Nasherov is so deserving of this award. Congratulations!

    Top Graphic

Many users are starting to try their hand at different types of point tasks and as much as it is important to recognize how they are doing on the ice, it is equally important to highlight some of the work they are doing off the ice. Lucifer Oliver Levesque @InstantRockstar has done some exceptional work when it comes to creating graphics. You can scroll through years of graphics this member has contributed over the years and each of them are top tier graphics. I am pleased to have had a member play on the Wranglers with such great talent. Congrats Rockstar on winning the Top Graphic Award! Here is a recent graphic he made for his new player.

This next member isn't afraid to share his opinions on matter's throughout the league. He is blunt and honest and that is what I like about the material he writes about. He has been around the league for a long time and is a well respected member. It is well worth the time to check out some of things he has to say. I feel he deserves to be recognized for the work he puts in for his players and that is why Sirkants Klamasteris @hedgehog337 is the winner of the Top Media Spot Award! This article encompasses exactly what I'd expect when reading a Hedge article!

The podcast game is slowly growing in the VHL and deserves to be recognized to continue to encourage more members to start giving it a try. This member is no stranger to the Podcast game and has been a recipient of this award in the past. His podcasts are always well prepared, laid out and the execution is flawless. Need your VHL fix while driving to and from work? Then I recommend giving any podcast this member puts out. Congratulations Phil The Rock Johnson @Phil on winning the Top Podcast Award! The podcast I have chosen Phil talks about the VHL Playoffs and incorporates another member into his podcast to talk about rookies in the VHL.

I cannot tell which of your graphics I like better: this almost perfectly executed news article or the one with the two players about to play pond hockey on a setting sun. You took great care to replace most of the pre-existing logos/emblems (the NHL at the neckline was overlooked) and flawlessly so (imo). I love the concept of kind of giving a swan song to Perry and to ask a legitimate question whether that was his last chance for a cup or whether with the new, promising prospects coming up the pipe line *cough* Daniel Janser *cough* there is still a final chance for Nathan to climb the Mount Olympus of Hockey. I think you chose a render with a befitting facial expression and the effects you chose gave to me the impression that it is a hard core Perry/Wranglers fan looking at him with tears in their eyes for a chance lost. 9.5/10 (would have been ten if you replaced the NHL logo)

This is such a unique graphic and I really love the attention to detail. First are foremost, the player render and edits you made to him look awesome. The logo swap on the jersey looks awesome and I love the Calgary logo on the bottom of the pants too, a nice added touch. Then I like the little added details like the "Final Shot at Glory Lost?" heading on the picture, and your name in small font in the bottom corner of the picture. I think I would have liked to see the title a bit bigger, but that's just a tiny detail. And finally, I love that there's a legit actual article about Calgary in the graphic as well. I thought it would just be some random article not related to VHL, but the fact it's actually related to your team is super cool. This is a nice change of style from your usual forum signatures and graphics, I really enjoyed it. Awesome job. 9/10
