A little does go a long way if everyone pitched in even a little bit, as even $1 means a lot for these charities when people band together. Fully behind the cause of the charity, so I've matched the full amount.

Thank you fishward, you’re a top mofo’ing bloke!

Since it was my charity choice I had no choice but to one up them (or rather, 2.67 up) and donate $35 as well.

    Happy offseason!

With the closure of S84, it's time again for the season donation. This season, the player with the highest shots blocked chose the donation location–with 146 shots blocked in the regular season and 23 in the playoffs, Poopy Peepants finished S84 with 169 (nice) shots blocked. Corey Kitson followed closely behind with 167 between regular season and playoffs.

Again this season, I decided to combine forwards and defenders instead of breaking them down since I got to ~double the total when the positions are combined. See the breakdown below:
    goals: 264 * 0.02 = $5.28
    shots blocked: 736 * 0.01 = $7.36
    hits: 1424 * 0.01 = $14.24

    ... for a total of $26.88!!!

@JardyB10 has decided that this season's donation will be going to the Canadian Women's Foundation. I had a little trouble with conversion rates, but I'm pleased that $26 USD / $32.33 CAD will be heading toward this organization. See below their mission & what the funds will be used for:

Diverse girls and young people ages 9-19 are struggling with emotional and physical well-being, connection, belonging, confidence, and healthy relationships. Over the last two years, the situation has become more urgent as resources for young people become scarcer through increased demand and lack of funding. Community programs funded through the Canadian Women’s Foundation provide the safe, supportive environment they need now. By supporting GOT YOUR BACK, you will help ensure that women, girls, and gender-diverse people get the programs and services they need.

A little will go a long way, and I'm looking forward to seeing how we can give back to local, state, provincial, and national communities, one small step at a time. See you next season!

Juice reacted to Vat in Vat's Dream team
For this seasons theme week we have to write about our dream team.  I will go over why I chose out this team member for member, so here is my list:

    GM - Kristof Welch ( @Juice)

    ( @rory)  ( @Daniel Janser)
Jeffrey Pines - Daniel Janser - Gustislav Nasherov

                ( @Spartan)     ( @Juice)
                  Alex Letang   -   Kristof Welch

                      ( @hedgehog337)
                       Sirkants Klamasteris

    General manager - Kristof Welch

The reason I chose Kristoff Welch as the general manager is simple, skill.  With Gustislav Nasherov having Welch as his first ever AGM he got flabbergasted by how he was only an AGM.  His skills were unforgettable, and with his trusty GM Hylands they were simply tacticians greater than Napoleon himself.  Having such a manager on this team will take them to heights they've never felt before.  The tactical plays will be immaculate and with the squad he posses there is no team with any sort of chance against him, this means that we are going to go to the finals at least every single year.

    Left Wing - Jeffrey Pines

There is no need to explain on what Pines has done in his career.  He is an icon to the whole VHL community and when you think of people you want on your team Pine pops up instantly.  With the legacy behind him opponents will have to think twice before they try to defend him.  There needs to be a whole strategy to stop him, and if there isn't then the chances of the puck not going into the goal and the buzzer sounding is close to zero.  With such personality and skillfull playstyle he will contribute with offense and the intimidation of opponents making them fear of what to come when he has the puck.  Being on this team and this line he will put up 100+ points with ease, if he really would try to score as many as possible in a season he could be very close to the 200 point mark and beat records old and young in true Jeffrey Pines style.

    Center - Daniel Janser

Janser is still only in his first season in the VHL but is showing true all star traits.  There is absolutely nothing that can stop the Swiss born train from grabbing the puck and making sure no one is playing with no manners.  in the VHLE he put up 184 hits in a mere 52 games.  Thats an average of 3,5 hits per game.  With such a hard working player on the team no one will try to mess with anyone on there, and if they did then they will understand to never EVER do it again.  He will contribute with leadership to the team and making sure no opponent gets too rough and putting them into place.  And with time when Janser

    Right Wing - Gustislav Nasherov

Gustislav Nasherov is a force to be reckonned with.  It's the same as with Jeffrey Pines.  Do not leave him alone, you need to stop him immediately.  And then you have Pines on the same line with him, thats when the oppositions defense starts ti crumble.  Having to defend both Jeffrey Pines and Gustislav Nasherov at the same time is as hard as having to defend Gretzky and Lemieux at the same time, it's not possible.  WIth these two players linking up it will be hard to stop their clap clap boom attacks thats makes the sport of hockey look like a kids game.  WIth the addition of Danioel Janser too no one will have the guts to even play the slightest rough with them, because if they do then they will feel the Swiss wrath.

    Left Defense - Alex Letang

The Canadian defense monster is not a player you can take lightly, also being a very physical defender as Janser he is even more physical.  In only 2 seasons he amassed a total of 597 hits.  Thats also about 3,5 hits a game.  In a season thats 72 games long.  Not only are those stats insane but in one of those two seasons he managed to score 119 points.  Having a defender that can play on the physical side and also score points is a player everyone wants on their team.  Especially me.  Now imagine both Letang and Janser putting fear into every opponent.  WIth both of them on the ice not even the opponents entire team would want to lay a finger on them or their teammates.

    Right Defense -  Kristof Welch

Kristof Welch is Gustislav Nasherov's best friend.  With the link up between those will be immaculate.  The chemistry alone will make the points fall in like a waterfall, and no one can stop them.  They are truly the ultimate duo of this team and with Welch's leadership abilites (and high tpe count) the opposition will have no chance, wether they are playing defense or offense.  No matter they are they have no chance.  And with the others in the team no one will stand a chance to stop the dream team.  No one.  With the routine of Welch and Letang there are basically zero people that can stop such defensive beasts on 1v1, 2v2, 3v2, 4v2 even 5v2.  They are simple unstoppable beings made to make the goalers job as easy as it could get.

    Goaltender (goaler) - Sirkants klamasteris

People say that the goalie is the most important position in hockey and to have a succseful team you need to start from the back with an amazing goalie.  And so I chose the Calgary goalie Klamasteris.  WIth an average save percentage of 0.920 and 3 Goals allowed per game average throughout 9 (!!!) seasons he will shut down the leagues best attackers.  Under the very rare circumstances that both Welch and Letang aren't home on defense there is no need to worry.  Because the shooter has no chance against the Latvian beast.  He almost wants for it too happen so he can get to play some exciting hockey because in 5v5 on defense the shots thats most regular goalers would let in are not more than routine stops for him.

That's my dream team that would go 72-0 in a vhl seasons and sweep the playoffs.

Hello VHL'ers! It's theme week and we've been tasked with putting together VHL "dream teams". I'm sure everyone has their own personal preferences, but this is the lineup I am throwing out there. To me, these are some of the best players I've encountered since coming into the league in Season 74. Of course, I am biased and also throwing some friends of mine in here, but it's my list so frick off. Without further ado, let's get right to it!

    Forwards

    @Ricer13 Kris Rice (C)
    504 GP- 237G, 306A, 543PTS

For my man on the dots, I went with none other than the current GM of the Calgary Wranglers, Ricer! Long before Ricer was promoted as the GM of Calgary, his first gen player Kris Rice was drafted there and went on to play his first four seasons there. Ricer enjoyed a solid seven-year career, but despite his impressive TPE earning, and being on some pretty good teams, he never was able to win the elusive Continental Cup. Just because he was cup-less though, does not take away from the fact he was an absolute beast out there on the ice. He was a high-caliber two-way player who consistently put up offense while also being a beast in the faceoff circle. On top of that, Ricer is one of the biggest class acts in the league and having him in the dressing room with the boys would definitely be a plus in my books!

    @BOOM Gunnar Odinsson (W)
    431 GP- 223G, 284A, 507PTS

Many of you may not know, but Gunnar Odinsson was originally a defenseman who eventually converted over to forward early in his career.  Unlike almost everyone else on this list, I actually played with Odinsson multiple times over the course of his career. We both played on the Marlins together in the VHLM and while we lit the league up that season, we couldn't capture that Founder's Cup unfortunately. From there, we both ended up on the Toronto Legion in what seemingly looked to be an incredible young core. Needless to say, that didn't exact pan out the way either of us had hoped. A few seasons later, fate would intervene and cross our players paths once more as Boom came over from Calgary to Malmo. Gunnar's two seasons in Malmo were the best of his career. Season 79 saw him and I capture the Continental Cup and it was also a season where Odinsson absolutely dominated. Aside from the team winning the Cup, he went on to win four personal trophies including playoff MVP.  Boom has always been an upstanding teammate and very kind to me. He would make a perfect addition to my dream team!

    @Zetterberg Ray Sheilds (W)
    432GP- 200G, 244A, 444PTS

A lot of you newer users may not recognize this user, but Z used to be a very active member of this community, and his first gen player Ray Sheilds (yes that's the way it's spelt, cringe I know) was a pretty good player all things considered. It's always funny to me reflecting back during this time. Z would always brag to me about how good his player was, and I would always troll him and tell him Sheilds was shit to get him wound up. But truth be told, Sheilds' six-year career was mostly impressive. Taking out his rookie season, and his final season in Riga that was a bit of an anomaly, Sheilds was a consistent producer and a fairly clutch performer as well. He strung together four straight seasons in which he put up a minimum of 80 points or more and even broke the 100 point plateau in Season 76. The peak of his career came in Season 75 when he was a crucial piece to Malmo capturing the Continental Cup. Those playoffs saw him put up 28 points in 19 games and he famously scored the game winning goal in the deciding game of the cup final.  I definitely wouldn't mind having a player of that ilk on my team. Also him and Boom can collab on some sick drip for my team! He traditionally played center, but like all good dream teams, centers are getting shifted to the wing, so deal with it Z!

    Defense

    @Juice Kristof Welch (D)
    478GP- 139G, 402A, 541PTS

For anyone that knows me, you knew this one was a layup. Kristof Welch is the only active player on my dream team. He is currently on his seventh season with one possible season remaining next season if he so chooses. What's not to like about Juice? He is a legend in the community thanks to his pie-in-the-face and karaoke highjinx, but he is also one of the best homies you could ever meet. I was lucky enough to stumble upon Juice when he first joined the league back in Season 75. I was a rookie AGM for Yukon and we signed Kristof Welch (a dlamb multi) off waivers. He immediately popped in Discord and was like a sponge, totally soaking in all the info we were giving him about how to run your player.  He was off to the races and has went on to be one of the most impressive first gens I've encountered during my time here in the VHL.  On the ice, he has been one of the most dominant and consistent d-men over the past handful of seasons. His last three seasons he has put up over 100 points and he is on pace to do so once again this year. He's one of the best playmaking blueliners in the current generation of VHL players. But aside from all that, he's my bud. We won a cup together in Yukon as management, we scavenged the lands of Tarkov together and he told me he liked the way I smell boi. He even told me about pretzal. Juice is love, Juice is life. Easiest dream team pick I ever made.

    @Spartan Alex Letang (D)
    504GP- 128G, 439A, 567PTS

The other defensemen on my team will be none other than Alex Letang. Spartan's player broke into the league in Season 73 and was truly a model of consistency for seven seasons. His career has a lot of parallels to Ricer's actually. He spent his first four seasons in Moscow, where he is now the general manager. Unfortunately, also like Ricer, he never was able to win that Continental Cup but that didn't take away from his ability to perform year after year. In addition to impressively being over a point per game as a defenseman in his career, during the latter half of his career he also developed a physical aspect of his game that saw him rack up a ton of hits, which made him a nightmare to match up against. His best season ironically came in Season 79, which was his final year. He popped off putting up 25 goals and 94 assists for 119 points for the LA Stars. That incredible season saw him rack up four individual trophies which is incredibly hard to do. When I was building Scotty Kaberle for my own player, Spartan's player was who I tried to model myself after. So who better to add to my dream team?

    Goalie

    @MexicanCow123 Jacob Tonn (G)
    342GP 200-104-31, .918 SV%, 2,78 GAA

To round out my dream team, I needed a solid tender to man the crease. This one was an easy choice as well, as Cow is a friend of mine and someone I have been close with since joining the VHL.  Before becoming the VHL's most hated meta-player, Cow played under the guise of Jacob Tonn, an honest, hard working goalie who enjoyed a solid six-year career which included a Continental Cup which he earned in his rookie season as Seattle's backup goalie. He notably also won three straigh Clegane trophies, under two different teams which is pretty impressive. Tonn was one of the most steady goalies during that time and he would make a great choice for my dream team. Aside from the on-ice performance, Cow and I have been homies for quite some time and I would always roll with him. Whether it's my conquest to educate him as much as possible, or our time playing games together, or even just shooting the shit on Discord, Cow will always be one of my closest buds in VHL.

So there you have it! This is my hand-crafted team that I've chosen. Do you hate it? Probably! Let me know how much you hate it down below  While I have some personal friends on this list, all these players at one point or another were great players in the VHL. I think it would be boring to just go by the absolute best statistical players from a certain timeframe. Maybe when this theme week gets recycled in 10 seasons from now I will have a new dream team with players of the current generation of VHL, but for now this is the squad I'm rolling with!

Juice reacted to Enorama in SHA/VHL Dream Team
Man it's been months (a year maybe?) since I've actually written a media spot. I figured this would be as good a time as any to drag myself out of retirement and throw together what I deem to be the most enigmatic team in VHL history. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you team Simulation Hockey Association.

Oh Sens - Dakota Lamb - Bogdan Trunov
    Germano Henchoz - Kristof Welch
    β-SHA G1

For those of you who don't know, the Simulation Hockey Association (SHA) is an online EHM league. I've long been recruiting from this part of the internet, but the SHA had such a long chain of recruitment that you could honestly build a second team with guys that were across both leagues (I checked, you absolutely could).

For the purposes of this exercise, I specifically chose people who were in the SHA first and joined the VHL because either myself or someone down my chain referred them. This disqualifies people like myself, TukTuk, and ferk, who spent at least some time as a GM in the SHA, but were VHL members first. At first glance, this is actually a pretty damn good first line in their respective peaks. Just ignore the fact that we've got no goalie. Might have to toss my old friend Askarov in net tbh.

Before I go down the list of those who made the cut, here's a brief list of honourable mentions, guys who fit my criteria but weren't good enough to cut the starting 5 based entirely on criteria that even I don't know:
Ramarod Ramirez @Ominous - yeah, not too surprised this didn't last long
Florent Vericel @dart - if he ever gets his head screwed on straight and stops living in fear of gorlab, this guy's got real potential
chris foley @Firekiss - the epitome of consistency. I only learned last night that he updated through an entire full career.
Kjell Nilsson @glass - "wah I want to stay in the VHLM and not play for the Dragons"
Theodore Hoffman @snackhero - better than glass because he actually played a season in D.C.
Liam Flaten @flatl99 - actually put in some good time in D.C., much appreciated

    Now, onto the actual roster.
    LW - Oh Sens @osens
Sens ended up retiring just above 700 TPE, and with Aberg well above 500 already, I think he'll be one of the first EHM-VHL transfers to qualify for pension. I know there's myself and Dakota, but is there anyone else? Without looking, I think Philliefan came short.
Anyways, this player followed a pretty straightforward path through the VHL, peaking with three straight PPG+ seasons in Toronto, bookended by short stints in Helsinki and Riga. No awards to speak of, not even cups, so Mr. Sens is likely going to waddle off into the abyss without much fanfare.

    C - Dakota Lamb @dlamb
Yeah he doesn't need his back patted anymore. He did some stuff, lied a bit about free agency, no big deal.

    RW - Bogdan Trunov @qripll
Trunov slides out of his natural centre position to the right wing to overload our first line with talent. This guy seems to be a Warsaw lifer barring that one trade request, and has already far outearned what my personal expectations were for him. I'm personally really hoping he breaks the 1000 TPE barrier, that'd be great to see.

    D - Kristof Welch @Juice
I think you guys all know who Juice is. He started out wanting to only play on one team in his career, and at first he was really interested in VHL/M management as well. Where is he now? Traded twice and signed to a new team in FA once + stepped down from VHLM GMing within a season or two of starting. What a career
Greatest Veigar player on the planet.

    D - Germano Henchoz @RicoTheTrapGod
Another Dragons legend, currently firing away in the VHLE's Rome Gladiators. Stopped earning at a really unfortunate time, in my opinion, and only gets the nod over Flaten because he created more recently and is still kicking around the league. Fun fact, I actually traded for him at one point, meaning both of these defensemen ended up on D.C.'s roster, but only via trade. Not that interesting I guess.

Any way, that's the story of the greatest roster to ever grace the VHL. If you think I'm wrong, fuck you.

    Thanks.

    S81 Team Awards

The Malmo Nighthawks surprised many in S81 by using a late surge to overtake the Moscow Menace to win the European Conference with a 52-win, 106-point record. The Nighthawks rode their historic (second best since S20) and league-leading power play to their second 300-goal season in the last three campaigns. They lost out on their ultimate goal, however, as they were defeated in the Conference Final in six games by the Menace. Breakout star Taylor Mourning won the Dust’n Funk Trophy as the VHL’s Most Improved Player after scoring 47 goals and 107 points, a 73-point increase from S80.

Here are the S81 Team Awards as voted by the players and management.

    Condor Adrienne Award (Best Defenseman)
    Kristof Welch @Juice
Welch was brought in to help shore up the defense after key losses in the off-season and his all-around brilliance shone all year. His playmaking was key on Malmo’s potent power play as he was second on the team with 32 man-advantage points. He led the team with a career-high 84 assists (7th in the VHL) and led Nighthawk defensemen with 107 points (third on the team) and a career-high +48 rating.

    Unsung Hero
    Taylor Mourning @scoop
    Steve Eso @Eso
    Scotty Kaberle @fromtheinside
A tribute to the Nighthawks’ incredible depth in S81, eight players were nominated for the Unsung Hero but there was a three-way tie for the award:
As mentioned above, Mourning was named the league’s most improved player for his career year where he was second on Malmo in goals (47), points (107), hits (314), and shots (503).
Eso’s first season with the Nighthawks was outstanding as he set career-highs in goals (35), assists (63 – third on Malmo), points (98 – fourth on Malmo), and plus/minus (45 – third on Malmo). He also led the team in faceoffs and faceoff wins.
Kaberle led Malmo defensemen with a career-high 25 goals (tied for third in the league) and was second on the team with 154 blocked shots, and third in hits (200), plus/minus (45), and game-winning goals (6).

    Most Gentlemanly
    Scott Kaberle @fromtheinside
Although Kaberle was fourth on the team in penalty minutes with a career-high 118 in his last season, the veteran blueliner was not awarded a major penalty the entire season. The normally laid back Kaberle did increase his physicality as well with 200 hits but remained the perfect gentleman on the ice and in the locker room he was the consummate teammate just as he was his entire career.

    Rookie of the Year
    Nathaniel Minion @Minion
After 100-point seasons in both the VHLM and VHLE, the diminutive Canadian center finally made his VHL debut with one of the best rookie seasons in franchise history. He had a fantastic season finishing fourth in league rookie scoring with 87 points which was also good for sixth on Malmo. His energy, playmaking and well-roundedness was a boon to forward group that had lost a lot of pop the last couple of off-seasons. He was fourth on the Nighthawks with 61 assists, 362 shots and 5 game-winning goals.

Malmo ROY and Most Energetic - Nathaniel Minion

    Most Energetic
    Nathaniel Minion @Minion
Minion brought a lot of fresh energy to the Nighthawks, not only on the ice but also in the locker room where he grew into a vocal leader. He contributed on all areas of the ice and was used in all situations. He even got into five fights, second only to Matt thunder on the team.

    Most Valuable Player
    Brendan Telker @Telkster
After a bit of a down year in S80, Telker bounced back with another stellar campaign in S81 and led the team in goals (56), points (121), shots (563), and power play points (34). He was also second on the team with 65 assists and was the only player in the league to play all 72 games and not receive a single penalty. During the season, Telker became the Nighthawks’ franchise career leader in goals and shots.

    Nighthawk of the Year
    Druss Deathwalker @animal74
Another Nighthawk who had a career year, captain Deathwalker set new bests in most categories while leading the VHL in game-winning goals with 13, second in hits (393) and eighth in PIM (158). He also led Malmo with a plus-49 rating. He was a force on the ice and a vocal and inspirational leader in the room.

Congrats to all the award winners!

    NEW YORK AMERICANS CAPTAINCY

It's been a pretty crazy offseason to be sure, but Season 82 marks the dawn of a new era here in The Big Apple. General Manager @MexicanCow123 Jordan Tonn and myself are embarking on a new era for the New York Americans. For too long now, this franchise has been a laughing stock in many VHL circles thanks to its lackluster asset management, consistently poor results, and the inability to retain superstars in this league. We aim to change the culture in New York and restore the club's prestige.

With that being said, we are proud to choose rookie @dlamb Vasile Lamb as our new team captain. We couldn't think of a better player to usher in this new era for us. He is a generational talent, and after talking to him behind the scenes, we truly believe he wants to help make America great again!

The first assistant captain is a player who has stuck with the Americans through thick and thin. While others left, he chose to wear the Americans' jersey like a badge of honor. @Webberj Jon Webber is veteran and leader on our team, and we are so grateful to have him be a part of our organization. For that reason, he will be donning an A for us this season.

Our second assistant captain is a player I can personally vouch for as being a stand-up talent both on and off the ice. While he isn't racking up points on the blueline, he is serenading the masses with his beautiful voice and wafting the beautiful aromas in Tarkov, Russia. @Juice Kristof Welch is a born winner and a VHL veteran that will serve as a learning tree for the likes of Lamb, DeGroot, and other up-and-coming superstars for the foreseeable future.

With these three players serving as our leadership group, New York American fans can finally start to be excited again. The franchise has been through a dark time to be sure. And while there will be more growing pains to come in the immediate future, our fanbase should be rest assured that better times are ahead on the horizon. As always, thank you for your time, and God Bless America.

Welp, the season didn't end up how I thought it would go, thus what was mentioned here has happened as I lost the bet :https://vhlforum.com/topic/101415-yukon-declares-war-on-san-diego/

In short summary, both Yukon and San Diego had a bet on whoever lost the season series between eachother would have the GM get pied.

So with that being said, I present my end of the bargain:

NEW YORK-Three days before the start of the 82nd VHL Season and The Big Apple is buzzing about the offseason shakeup surrounding the New York Americans. The writing was on the wall for most of last season; the team was headed into a rebuild. With their assets dwindling and their superstar forward Rhynex Entertainment headed into retirement come season's end, Americans fans knew changes were coming. The franchise started off things by getting super lucky and winning the draft lottery and thus receiving the first overall pick in the VHL Entry Draft. With that pick, the Americans selected Vasile Lamb from the Mississauga Hounds. Lamb was the consensus number one pick in the draft and should have a home on the first line for seasons to come.

Their next pick in the draft came in the second round at 20th overall. This pick has been the center of controversy for weeks now, but the Americans shocked hockey fans everywhere when they drafted Tavish DeGroot, the talented defenseman from the San Diego Marlins. DeGroot was widely considered to be a Top 3 pick in this draft, however their draft stock plummeted after rumors swirling about DeGroot's intentions to play in Europe for half their career. After a messy series of negotiations, DeGroot eventually inked their entry-level deal with the Americans and seems to be ready for opening night on Tuesday.

Alongside him on the teams first defensive pair will be none other than veteran Kristof Welch. Welch has become a household name in the VHL and is known to be one of the most consistent blueliners. Many teams were vying for his services but to many people's surprise,  Welch chose New York. Aside from his high hockey IQ and smooth stick handling, Welch was also voted VHL's sexiest player in GQ magazine in 2021. When asked about this, Welch accredited his soft skin which he gained from many a pie-in-the-face. Welch also said the management team claimed to "like the way he smelled, boy".

In addition to signing Welch, the Americans continued to accrue talent in the forms of Jakky Sosa and Philip Stein. Sosa will be reunited with Welch from their time together in Malmo. Sosa has been an elite goal scorer with a high propensity to come in clutch when it matters most. This will be his final season before he rides off into the sunset and hangs up the skates. The city is certainly abuzz with all these new faces and the roof could come off Madison Square Garden this Tuesday night when the puck is dropped to start the season!
