Pifferfish got a reaction from Triller in Rookie Offseason
As the VHL offseason gets underway, many players take the opportunity to rest and recuperate after a grueling season of professional hockey. But for Elias Lampi, a rookie on the Bears team, there's no time to waste. Lampi and his teammates are already hard at work, preparing for the next season and honing their skills both on and off the ice.

One of the key aspects of Lampi's offseason training regimen is his dedication to fitness. He spends hours in the gym every day, working on his strength, endurance, and agility. This kind of commitment is crucial for any professional athlete, but especially for someone like Lampi, who is still adjusting to the pace and physical demands of the VHL.

In addition to his time in the gym, Lampi also works closely with his team's coaching staff to fine-tune his skills on the ice. They review game footage together, analyzing Lampi's performance and identifying areas for improvement. Lampi is always eager to learn and improve, and he takes every opportunity to soak up knowledge from his coaches and more experienced teammates.

One important aspect that the Bears team emphasizes during the offseason is mental toughness. They recognize that being mentally strong can be just as important as being physically fit on the ice. To help with this, the team holds regular mindfulness and visualization sessions with a sports psychologist. These exercises not only help the players stay focused during games but also help them manage stress and anxiety both on and off the ice.

But it's not all work and no play for Lampi and his teammates. They also make time for team-building activities and social events. Whether it's a round of golf, a day at the beach, or a night out on the town, these activities help the players to bond and strengthen their relationships off the ice. And that camaraderie can translate into better teamwork and on-ice success come game time.

Of course, Lampi is not the only rookie on the Bears team, and he's not the only one working hard during the offseason. His fellow first-year players are also putting in extra time and effort to make sure they're ready for the next season. And that sense of collective dedication is something that Lampi finds particularly inspiring.

"We all know how tough it is to make it in this league," Lampi says. "But when we see each other pushing ourselves and working hard, it makes us want to do the same. We're all in this together."

As the offseason progresses, Lampi and his teammates will continue to train and prepare for the next season. And while there are sure to be plenty of challenges and setbacks along the way, Lampi is confident that his hard work and dedication will pay off in the end.

"I know that if I keep pushing myself and focusing on the things that matter, I can be successful in this league," he says. "And I believe that my teammates feel the same way. We're all here to win, and we're going to do whatever it takes to make that happen."

Pifferfish reacted to Triller in The Continental Cup
It took an extra season but as some of you may have seen, I completed my rendition of the Continental Cup!  I had previously completed the Founders and Renaissance Cups and posted them up.  Check them out at the bottom if you are interested.  But here we go, the Continental cup!

So I took my main inspiration from 2 trophies, one of which most of you will recognize, the body shape of the Stanley Cup.  With how the league works and the history it has, I wanted to have the same usability that the Stanley Cup has.  When a ring fills up, the bottom ring is removed and archived in the Hockey Hall of Fame.  The Continental Cup works the same way.  When the top ring fills, I will remove the bottom ring and put in a new one for the league winners to fill!  The cup currently can hold 96 Seasons of VHL history but you know I can't let that be it.  I want season 1 and 100 to live on the cup together for a moment so once the top ring is full I will add another and the trophy will hold a total of 112 Seasons before the bottom ring is swapped out for a new one.  I will keep the old rings, don't fret.  The other trophy I took inspiration from was the top of the Bill France Cup, which is awarded to the NASCAR Cup Series champion.  Instead of the track around the cup I made the "V" to represent the VHL.  I added dark wood rings around the neck as well to bring in the wood element that exists in the Founders Cup and Renaissance Cup to connect all the leagues.

I appreciate all the kudos received for these cups I made.  I enjoyed creating them and giving them out to the winning teams to enjoy.  I doubt these will be official in anyway but while I am here I will update and maintain them so that everyone has something to celebrate with and work for!  I encourage teams to throw these out where ever!  I will also be making a series of PNGs for each cup that anyone can use in their graphics!

    By Todd Ripley

The Seattle Bears, a formidable team in the VHL, fell just short of their bid to move on to the VHL Finals, as they lost to the Calgary Wranglers in the conference finals. While the Bears gave their all, they were unable to overcome the Wranglers' offensive power, losing the series 4-2.

The Bears had an impressive regular season record of 33-31-8, placing them fourth in the Western Conference standings. They had a solid roster of players, including forwards Vasile Lamb, Tavish DeGroot, and Hulk Hogan 2, and defenseman Ryuji Sakamoto. They also had several promising rookies, including Randy Bobandy and Elias Lampi.

In their series against the Wranglers, the Bears had their work cut out for them. The Wranglers had a potent offensive line, led by Daniel Janser, Leandro Gonclaves, and Landon Wolanin. The Bears' defense was up for the challenge, with Lampi and Sakamoto leading the charge, but the Wranglers were able to find the back of the net in crucial moments.

On the offensive side, Lamb and DeGroot were unable to find their groove, as they were held in check by the Wranglers' defense, anchored by AirRig GoodBrandSun. Rookie Randy Bobandy showed flashes of brilliance, but was unable to convert his opportunities into goals.

The Bears' goaltending was also tested in the series, as Dusty Wilson was under constant pressure from the Wranglers' offense. Despite making several key saves, Wilson was ultimately unable to stop the Wranglers from scoring.

In Game 6 of the series, the Wranglers dominated the ice with a resounding 5-0 victory. Oskar Lindbergh was outstanding in goal, making 33 saves and earning a shutout. The Wranglers' offense was led by Janser and Wolanin, who each scored two goals in the game.

Despite the loss, the Bears had a lot to be proud of in their season. They had several standout players, including Lampi, who showed great potential as a rookie defenseman. The team also had a solid group of veteran players who provided leadership and guidance.

It's worth noting that one of the key players for the Bears in their playoff push was forward Vasile Lamb, who was acquired by General Manager Bana in a trade earlier in the season. Lamb provided a much-needed boost to the Bears' offense, scoring several key goals down the stretch and in the playoffs. It was a shrewd move by GM Bana that paid off for the Bears in their playoff run.

Looking ahead, the Bears will likely continue to build around their core players and look to add new talent to their roster. With the right mix of veteran leadership and young talent, they have the potential to make a deep playoff run in the future.

As for the Wranglers, they will move on to the VHL Finals, where they will face off against the winner of the European Conference. With their potent offense and strong defense, they will be a tough opponent for any team.

Overall, the Bears' loss to the Wranglers was a tough one, but they have plenty to be proud of in their season. Fans can look forward to seeing what the future holds for this talented team.

Pifferfish got a reaction from Lemorse7 in Lampi and the Bears Advance!
Interviewer: Congratulations on the win, Elias. How does it feel to come out on top in such a close game?
Elias Lampi: Thank you, it's an amazing feeling. We knew that the Vancouver Wolves were going to be tough opponents, and we had to bring our A-game if we wanted to win. But we stuck to our game plan, and we managed to get the job done in the end.
Interviewer: Your team was down by two goals at one point, but you managed to tie it up and eventually win it in overtime. What changed for you guys in the third period?
Elias Lampi: We knew we had to step up our game. We started to play more aggressively, and we put more pressure on their defense. We were able to capitalize on our opportunities, and that's what ultimately led to our success.
Interviewer: Can you talk about the shorthanded goal that Hulk Hogan 2 scored, which you assisted on?
Elias Lampi: Yeah, that was a huge moment for us. Hulk made a great play to intercept the puck and throw it to me with open space. I saw that he had a clear lane to the net. I made a quick pass to him, and he did the rest. It was a huge momentum swing for us, and it really helped us get back into the game.
Interviewer: You took a double minor penalty for high sticking in overtime. Can you walk us through what happened there?
Elias Lampi: Yeah, it was a mistake on my part. I was trying to make a play on the puck, and I ended up catching one of their players with my stick. It was a tough penalty to take, but our penalty kill did a great job of stepping up and keeping them off the scoreboard.
Interviewer: Tavish DeGroot had a hat trick tonight. Can you talk about his performance?
Elias Lampi: Tavish was incredible tonight. He's such a skilled player, and he was able to create a lot of opportunities for himself and his linemates. He really stepped up when we needed him the most, and we're lucky to have him on our team.
Interviewer: The Seattle Bears are now moving on to the second round of the playoffs, where you'll be facing the Calgary Wranglers. What's your mindset going into this matchup, and how do you think the team will fare against Calgary?
Elias Lampi: Thank you. We're really excited to have won the second round and to be moving on to the next one. The Calgary Wranglers are a tough team, but we've faced them before in the regular season, and we know what they're capable of. We'll be studying their game tape and preparing ourselves accordingly. Our mindset going into this matchup is to take it one game at a time, stay focused, and play to our strengths. We have a great group of guys, and we're confident in our abilities to come out on top.
Interviewer: Well, Elias, it's been a pleasure talking to you. Congratulations on the win, and good luck in the next round of the playoffs.
Elias Lampi: Thank you, it's been great talking to you too. We're excited for the challenge ahead, and we'll be giving it our all to make it to the next round.

Seattle Bears Fall Short in Conference Finals Against Calgary Wranglers

Pifferfish reacted to Beketov in Forgive my Sentimentality
    Hello everyone,

Not gonna bother with a members tag on this, if you see it then great, you will be rewarded for that. If you don’t then…. Well why am I writing this because if you don’t see it how can you read this part?

Anyway, today marks 5717 days (that’s 15 years, 7 months, and 26 days if you’re curious) since the VHL opened its doors. What a random number you might say, why does that matter? Well if I do the math, and I have, I was born 5717 days before the start of the VHL. Given that I joined on day one and have been here ever since that means today marks the official day that I have been in the VHL just as long as I was outside of it. Is that a stupid thing to celebrate? Probably but that won’t stop me; so please let me indulge in a bit of sentimentality for a moment.

When the VHL started I had not yet completed high school, I had never had a girlfriend, hell I had never kissed a girl. I was a lonely nerd turning to the internet to find something to do; and I found it. The VHL was not my first sim league, wasn’t even the first one I joined ran by the people who ran it, but it was the first that felt different and felt like it had a good chance of surviving which so few at that point had done. I found a community here. I cannot honestly say that everything went perfectly or that my start in the VHL was without fault; I very nearly left for good within 2 months, but I stayed. I have now not only finished high school but university and going on 10 years working post-schooling. I have now not only had a steady relationship but a wife and two children, a life. All the while the VHL has been there, constantly evolving with the times sure but present. Over 5 years ago I took up the mantel of commissioner. I did it not because I thought I was necessarily the best person for the job but because I thought the league needed something, it was in trouble and I didn’t want to see it fail. I like to think that in these 5 years of growth I have at least stalled that failure.

5717 days likely means nothing to any of you, just as that paragraph likely means nothing to any of you, but it means something to me. This league, this place, this community has been a standard in my life for longer than most anything else. I’m not going anywhere right now, that’s not what this is, but I did want to mark the occasion because this league does mean a lot to me.

So if you’ve made it this far feel free to take 5 uncapped TPE for your troubles, on me. I’m not sure the insane total I’ve had over the years (probably over 10k by now) so 5 for everyone that I bored with this story should suffice as a thank you for being my weird extended internet family.

Pifferfish got a reaction from Banackock in Lampi and the Bears Advance!
