    Phoenix Keep Lighting the Lamp

The Chicago Phoenix have lit the lamp in the early stages of the VHL season, leading the league in goals scored after just 10 games. Despite the small sample size, their offensive performance has not only impressed fans but also raised hopes for a successful campaign.

The Phoenix have scored 43 goals so far with the Moscow Menace behind them with 39 (in 11 games) and the Prague Phantoms with 37.

Spearheading their scoring attack is a combination of seasoned veterans and emerging talents, with each line contributing to the team's offensive output. Players like Yaroslav Trunov, Lionel Collberg, Joshua Schwarzer, and Legacy Gaming have been instrumental in leading the charge, showcasing their scoring touch and playmaking abilities.

While leading the league in goals scored is undoubtedly an encouraging sign for the Phoenix, there is still work to be done as the season progresses. Maintaining consistency and avoiding offensive droughts will be crucial for Chicago as they aim to solidify their position in the standings and make a push for the playoffs.

Another season gone, where did it go? This season the Chicago Phoenix look to finally start the climb into the post-season with their amazing young core. It should be interesting to see if we're able to get into the post-season. The new generation of players are finally here, and with that, new captains! Also, new gif!

    ALTERNATE CAPTAIN #1 - Lionel Collberg - @Masu Chan

Lionel Collberg is coming off a fantastic rookie campaign, dropping 50 points as a defenseman. The sky is the limit for him and he's going ot be a fantastic add to the captain core moving forward!

    ALTERNATE CAPTAIN #2 - Yaroslav Trunov - @qripll

Yaroslav Trunov although older than most of the players here, they can help provide veteran leadership and mentor the younger players coming into the team. Coming off of a career high 94 points with the team, Trunov will be a fantastic piece and one of the most important players on the team this season!

    CAPTAIN - Joshua Schwarzer - @Velevra

The time is finally now, and we're excited to announce our new captain moving forward! Joshua Schwarzer burst onto the scene as a rookie last season, but has stepped it up on and off the ice. With 57 points as a rookie, the future is bright and having a young leader at the helm mixed with some veteran leadership is exactly what we need! Congratulations on being named the captain!

Phoenix Get an Injection of Youth and a Solid Veteran
The Chicago Phoenix are gearing up for an exciting season as they welcome a wave of rookies into their roster, all set to make their VHL debuts. Bryce Woodworth, Karol Lamb, Darko Alexander Malkovich, and Amir Redzic are among the fresh faces at training camp this season.

Another notable addition to the Phoenix lineup is veteran forward Babay Shrimp, whose had impressive seasons with Riga the last couple of seasons (83 and 91 points). With Shrimp's scoring prowess complementing the youthful energy of the rookies, Chicago boasts a well-rounded offense capable of challenging any opponent.

For my own player Joshua Schwarzer, he is currently skating on the second line alongside Bryce Woodworth and Legacy Gaming. Hopefully they can develop some chemistry and synergy on the ice and Schwarzer can be a key player for the Phoenix.

Overall, the Phoenix set their sights on returning to the playoffs. While making a deep postseason run is unlikely, the playoff experience would be a promising sign and a good experience for the the injection of fresh talent that has been brought up this season.

    Schwarzer Excited for Season Start

As the offseason stretches on, Joshua Schwarzer found himself facing a different kind of challenge than he's accustomed to. Having experienced deep playoff runs in both the VHLE and VHLM leagues previously, Schwarzer had to grapple with a longer offseason as a result of the Chicago Phoenix missing out on the VHL playoffs.

Schwarzer took some time off to relax with friends and family before dedicating himself to his offseason training routine to sharpen up his skills. With the possibility of him transitioning from the wing to center this season, he has been putting in extra work to work on his faceoff skills to get used to the new position and ensure a smooth transition.

Another silver lining for Schwarzer during the offseason was that his agent successfully negotiated a two-year contract extension with the Chicago Phoenix, securing his future with the team and providing him with a sense of stability as he looks ahead to the next season.

With the business side of things out of the way, Schwarzer is now looking forward to hitting the ice at training camp later this week, hoping he can play a large role in helping the Phoenix make the playoffs.

1: Do you believe the future is bright in Chicago with the prospects we've acquired this offseason? (Jean-Pierre Devote, Ughsike, Micah Cederbaum, Kevin O'Connor & Vanuza Kolesinska) I probably missed one...
Definitely! I'm happy with the group we have put together and think we have a lot of good pieces. Just need to grow together well over the next few seasons.

2: Which attribute do you intend to focus on this offseason/season?
Probably a combination of continuing to upgrade my defence and putting some points into faceoffs to be servicable in the face off dot.

3: Does your character do anything unique with their equipment to stand out? (Different Colored Laces, Tinted Visor, Jersey Tuck, etc.)
Maybe some red laces or stick tape to rep the team colors!

4: I probably asked this recently, but I enjoy people's ideas...If you had to name the next VHL team, what'd you call it?
Haha I think this was asked recently. I think I said moving the Stockholm VIkings since there are two swedish VHLE teams to the Coppenhagan Pagans/Vikings.

5: Do you like how the NHL handled the All-Star event this season?
I didn't follow it too much but I think there were four teams with a celebrity draft? Seems like it caught interest so probably not a bad idea to switch things up to keep things interesting rather than always east vs west etc.

6: Have you ever re-watched an NHL game? If so, why?
I don't think so but I might have when I was really young. I would say I have seen highlights/clips again rather than full games.
  12. Cheers

1: Who is your pick for the cup? D.C. Dragons or London United?
A little late now but I thought it would be a close series with a slight edge to London. Clearly I was wrong!

2: Still a lot of season to go in the NHL, but who do you think will win the Stanley Cup at this point?
The Vancouver Canucks who will meet the Boston Bruins in the finals and get revenge and not burn the city down

3: Another prediction. Who do you think will win the draft lottery and select 1st overall?
Davos had the best odds so I would have guessed them. Feel like you cant go wrong with CIA or Victor. I think I have interacted with Victor a bit more myself so I will say him

4: What was the first hockey game you ever watched? Can you remember the teams?
I think it was a game between Vancouver

5: What color is your player's stick tape?
Black on the bottom and white up top was what I used to use I believe.

7: What led to you picking your Discord or Forum profile picture?
I am extremely boring and just use the default that discord and the forum gave me

In a thrilling and unforgettable finale to the VHL playoffs, the D.C. Dragons emerged victorious in dramatic fashion, clinching the Continental Cup in overtime of Game 7 against the London United.

The game began with the Dragons seizing an early lead, with Keegan Gamble and Vincent Laroche-Gagnier finding the back of the net in the first period. London responded with a goal from Jack Jeckler in the second period, setting the stage for a tense and tightly contested final frame. Leonard Triller leveled the score for London on a power play in the third period, sending the game into overtime.

As the overtime period unfolded, both teams battled fiercely but in the end it was The Frenchman who delivered the decisive blow for the Dragons, netting the game-winning goal just over 10 minutes into overtime. The Dragons erupted in celebration as they clinched the Continental Cup, and shutting down London’s remarkable run from the Wildcard.

The Frenchman and Vincent Laroche-Gagnier were named the first and second stars of the game respectively for their stellar performances and the third star went to goaltender Henry Tucker Jr. who turned aside an impressive 51 shots to backstop his team to victory.

    @Zetterberg

Okay, I have delayed writing this article by a week mainly since I wasn`t rushed to get the stat lines as the season ended, not to mention a bit busy.... yad yada… So, one of the main reasons I also delayed was also to try to figure out how I wanted to present this final ranking and announcement of who I think will win. There is a difference between who I think will win and who will win FYI. Which brought up a few different questions should I be looking only at the stats or should I be putting my own influence into determining the final rankings as some players had great season but would I want them on my team over say another player that had a slightly less statistically strong season? Well, the answer to that is no!! I want the best player for my team for as long as I want so some my own influence will be added to determine the finals rankings for the Top 10 Rookie Ranking as this isn`t who will win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy but rather who was the top 10 rookies in my opinion. I will also announce who I think wins the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy towards the end of the article so without too much faffing about lets get into the final ranking starting at 10th overall:

    10th (S89) RW - Carson Walker Jr @Cwalker

    32g – 29a – 61pts
Finished third in rookie scoring so some might be surprised to see Walker Jr at the bottom of the list well, this is due to my own personal influence as one of the older Rookies this season meant he was more than ready to make the jump compared to his younger counter parts so takes a hit. Add in the fact that he also played for a very bad Wolves team and boosted by getting looks he must likely wouldn`t of had if he was on a different team. I hope he proves me wrong as he has the opportunity to lead a young Vancouver roster next season but I feel he drops back in points after a strong rookie season.

    9th (S91) G - Red Panda @Lemorse7

    28-30-5  2.98GAA 0.917sav% & 1 SO
Finding a goaltender that can bring stability to the net is a goal for most franchises in the VHL so when Riga drafted Panda at 8th overall Riga was hoping for a franchise tender. Well, to say this nicely that wasn`t really what they got this season from Panda as Panda finished near the bottom in all stats catagories for a starting goaltender but being fair Panda played for an fairly weak Riga team as Rookie so these numbers should improve in the next few seasons as Riga as a team improves; as it cannot get much worse. Potential has them finishing the season as the 9th best rookie this season.

    8th (S91) G - Olober Syko @Spartan

    38-22-4.  2.86GAA 0.919sav% & 2 SO
While Moscow was rather impressive this season finish third in the European Conference this wasn`t down to great goaltending but rather a team effort so while Syko finished with the most wins as rookie at 38 (5th League) his other numbers where very average with his goals against, save percentage and shutouts all ranked around 10th best in the league. Scary to think that Moscow is only going to get stronger as they add even more prospects start next season and Syko will most lieky improve his numbers after a solid first season.

    7th (S91) D - Callum Gary Yannick Janser @Daniel Janser

    6g – 49a – 55pts
The former first overall pick would have been most people choice to lead this list or at least top three like I did at the start of the season but as the season progress the pass first, heavy checking defender failed to put up anywhere close to the numbers that most expected from the young rookie defender but when you have 191PIM and actually set a new career high in points in a season; it leads me to beleave most have overrated this prospect value at this point of his career. Will he improve? Yes, of course but his ceiling seems a bit lower than when New York selected him first overall in S91. Janser is a solid pass first hard noised defender that will punish the other teams top forward for years to come. His point tallies my never reach more that high sixties as that isn`t the type of player Janser is.

    6th (S91) G - Dalkr Vidarsson @KaleebtheMighty

    26-32-6.  3.09GAA 0.925sav% & 5 SO
Here I am thinking this goaltender should be higher on the list but others might question me if I do move him up as I feel Vidarsson isn`t going to get the respect that he truly deserves based around the fact that his stats look rather mid but that isn`t completely true when you consider Vidarsson has the 6th best save percentage in the league and 4th most shutouts suggesting that it was his team that inflated his goals against and record as Vidarsson played for the horrible Vancouver Wolves this season. Only one goaltender faced more shot this season, Lachlan Summers from HC Davos but comparison Vidarsson had much stronger numbers suggesting that the Vancouver Wolves might have a future award winning; if not HOF goaltender in between the pipes. Not bad from the 3rd goaltender taken during his draft class and not even rated in my top 10 at the start of the season. Like I said I still feel I am doing Vidarsson injustice by not having him higher up the final ranking list considering his current projection.

    5th (S91) RW - Thor Reingaard @N0HBDY

    24g – 34a – 58pts
The third highest goal scoring forward in the rookie class with a solid twenty-four goals while playing on a rather mid Warsaw Predators team but showed enough scoring ability to suggest that Warsaw has a bright future with Reingaard in their line-up. Reingaard plus minus was a bit of a concern at a negitive 23 on the season suggesting that the forward needs to learn to play at both ends of the rink and stop flying the zone so much leaning towards offense. Soild rookie that I think more was expected from him and similar to Callum Gary Yannick Janser; might have been slightly overrated at this point of his career as Reingaard has only managed around sixty points through the VHLE and now VHL so will he be able to break through to become the offensive threat most expected of him when he was drafted 2nd overall by Moscow or is this why Moscow gave up on the prospect already?

    4th (S91) LW - Joshua Schwarzer @Velevra

    26g – 31a – 57pts
As one of the best players on the Chicago Phoenix this season it was always going to be a tough ask for this rookie to put up strong numbers but that is what Schwarzer did at least halfway through the season before seeing his scoring touch slide slightly as did the teams chance to secure a playoff spot in the end based on past career numbers from the minor leagues suggested that Schwarzer has more to provide Chicago this season but just couldn`t completely figure it out. Schwarzer should be much stronger next season as one of currently three returning players; he will need to be if Chicago is going to make the playoff as their isn`t much help coming from draft picks or prospects. I will be looking for a solid seventy point campain next season from Schwarzer.

    3rd (S91) D - Leif Reingaard @Zetterberg

    13g – 49a – 62pts
Great season for this rookie defender and most likely in any other season would seriously be consider for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy but with the other two on the list having superb season means Reingaard might have to be content with just being mentioned when the Award are presented. Reingaard will continue to lead a young and coming Moscow Menace teams and should only improve his numbers next season while becoming a star defender in the league for years to come.

    2nd (S90) G – 36W @rory

    29-27-6.   2.15GA  0.932Sav%  2SO
When a team trades for a veteran goaltender before the trade deadline does that mean they have no confindence in the rookie goaltender that is currently the teams start? That would have seemed the case when New York traded for Clueless Wallob but in the end 36W either reclaimed the net or kept the net simply by playing better than the retiring veteran goaltender. In the end I have dropped 36W to second due to the fact that with the introduction of hybrid stats we have seen goaltenders posting above average numbers to say the least. In the end 36W finished the seaosn with fourth best save percentage, eleventh most shutouts and the best goals against but he only faced the 15th most shots against out of all starting goaltenders this season suggesting rather he might have benifited from a stronger than average defensive core infront of him this season; boosting his numbers. Either way 36W will already walk away an award winner as he claimed the Greg Clegane award and should receive a ton of votes for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy and could still win the award as I will tough on later.

    1st (S91) LW - Grimgor Ironhide @FrostBeard

    37g – 45a – 82pts
Twenty sixth overall in scoring by a rookie at the end of the season is rather impress but even more impress is top twenty in goals as Ironhide thirty-seven goals was good enough for fourteenth in the league. Ironhides total points are the highest since S83 when hybrid attrubutes was created in an era of goaltending; which rather surprised me today when he was traded to Moscow Menace as I have Ironhide finishing as the top rookie this season. Not nessarily winning the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy. Ironhide will now join the young and upcoming Menace team, trying to prove this season wasn`t based on riding veteran Daryl Dixon coat-tails.

So Who do I think should win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy?

So who actually wins the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy?

What do you think? Let me know below who you think should win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy? And if my prediction of a tie has any merit?

    Honorable Mentions:

(S90) LW - Eric White Jr @Mysterious_Fish – Riga Reign
    (S91) D - Lionel Collberg @Masu Chan - Chicago Phoenix

The stage is set for an epic showdown between the London United and the D.C. Dragons as the two teams prepare to battle it out in the VHL finals. Both teams have displayed exceptional skill and so far throughout the playoff and the finals promises to be a thrilling series.

The London United head into the finals all the way from the wildcard series. So far they have been spearheaded by the offensive talent of players like Leonard Triller (26 pts in 15 games) and Molly the Cat (21 pts in 15 games). Goaltending wise, Jesse Teno has stood tall between the pipes, making crucial saves when it matters most.

On the other side, the D.C. Dragons have been nothing short of impressive, dispatching formidable opponents such as the Los Angeles Stars and the Toronto Legion on their journey to the finals in a relatively quick 4-1 fashion. The team's balanced scoring attack, with contributions from players like The Frenchman and Mark Calaway, has been complemented by the stellar goaltending of Henry Tucker Jr.

Will D.C. be able to dispose of the United in a similar fashion or will the resilient United see their determination through to a championship. Regardless, it should be a great finals!

Hmm this is a tough one, I might move one of the swedish VHLE teams (Stockholm/Vasteras) to a country that doesn't have a team like Denmark or something

If you moved Stockholm to Denmark keeping the Vikings branding might also be fitting

    3.  There is a board of governors here, should there be a player's association?

    1. The Playoffs are in full swing, any surprises to you thus far?

The London United stunned the hockey world this week as they completed a resounding 4-0 sweep of the Malmo Nighthawks in the second round of the playoffs. The Nighthawks, dominated the regular season en route to capturing the Victory Cup and were hoping to continue their dominance in the postseason. However, London had other plans, continuing their momentum from their 3-1 series victory over the Prague Phantoms.

Thus far, London has been led by stellar offensive displays from players like Leonard Triller (18 points), Molly the Cat (14 points), and Wann Kerr (13 points). In addition to their offensive firepower, London's goaltender Jesse Teno, appears to be in peak form between the pipes and is  boasting a remarkable .946 save percentage and a 2.1 goals-against average.

If their offense and goal tending stay in this form for the rest of the playoffs, other teams might have a tough time competing. Next up on their path to championship glory is playing the winners of Moscow and Helsinki which is currently evened up with 2 games a piece.

    @leandrofg

Wildcard rounds have started and everyone is excited to see who can win the Continental Cup this season but how did we get to this point of the season and how did my final predictions end up. We will also look back to the predictions made by the VSN at the start of the season on where the teams would finish in each conference; just a head of what should be the VSN Predictions coming hopefully in the next few days. Either way lets take a look at this weeks predictions and season review.....

Reason: I hate declaring ties so while I knew this was a highly likely I was hoping that this wouldn`t be the case. Well, fast forward the half week remaining and we end up with a tie at the top of the standing. Making my prediction correctly incorrect!! LOL!! You can also blame Europe for the messed up of a tie since Los Angeles dropped points to Riga, London and Prague; while Calgary dropped their only two games to Moscow and London. Thanks Europe!!

So how did the VSN do predicting each conference at the start of the season; well, let’s take a look shall we?

    Start of Season Predictions:

    🟰          1.
Calgary Wranglers during the off season looked at revamping their defensive core when they brought in Skor McFleury @Alex via a trade with Malmo Nighthawks while seemingly hoping that scoring would take care of itself. Well, scoring was still a bit of an issue at 8th overall but due to the improved defense meant that Calgary was able to win a lot of low scoring games as the Wranglers had the 5th best defense in the league. Randy Bobandy @AJW(35g-53a-88pts) came back into the form that Calgary expected when trading for him a few season back from Seattle Bears as the 6`4” center lead the Wranglers is scoring. Mean while Skor McFleury @Alex(18g-53a-71pts) struggled this season to find his form in Calgary posting his third lowest point tally since leaving Riga back in S88/S89 off season when he posted only 55pts; clearly no one expected this when McFleury joined the roster this off season. Expect a bounce back next season and a motivated player through the playoffs. Merome Dilson @MexicanCow123(40-17-6; 2.30ga; 0.935% & 6 SO) was clearly the Wranglers MVP this season as he should get consideration for Aidan Shaw Trophy; played a huge role why Calgary ended the season on top of the North American Conference.

    🔻       2.
After finding a goaltender in the off season bring in Henry Tucker Jr @NSG(36-20-8; 2.60ga; 0.919% & 3 SO) from Riga Reign, it must have been huge relief for the team but still had a weakness on the back end. While the Dragons did try to address the issue by bring in Braeden Panarella @ThatCasual from Vancouver Wolves. It wasn`t enough for D.C. to really challenge Calgary Wranglers (2-3-0) or the Los Angeles Stars (3-1-1) as D.C. also struggled against top teams from Europe losing season series to Helsinki, Malmo and Prague. Offensively the team came as advertised with The Frenchman @OrbitingDeath (37g-71a-108pts), Jason @Jason kranz(47g-51a-98pts) and Vincent Laroche-Gagnier @vincentlg2007(38g-57a-95pts) all finishing top three in the league scoring with The Frenchman joint wining the Mike Szatkowski Trophy and should have his name consider for a few more awards at the end of the season. Mark Calaway @Beketov(30g-60a-90pts) led the defense taking a nice step forward this season off the back of what would have been a down season with only 67pt the season before; as Calaway led all defenders in points this season. Another name to watch for at the end of the season when awards for defensemen are handed out as he should be inconsideration for Sterling Labatte, Alexander Valiq and Jake Wylde Trophies; not to mention maybe the Dustin Funk Trophy as the most improved. D.C. Dragons will need to play better defensively in the playoffs in what should be a fairly even match against Los Angeles Stars.

    🔻       3.
Not completely sure why my colleague placed the 10th best team league ranking and the 5th best in the conference in 3rd; as I can only assume this was due to the fact that Toronto are defending Champions and had the most chance to improve the team through the season. Which is actually what the Legion tried to do as they made a series of trades bring in Steve Lattimer @pugsood(30g-45a-75pts); via Prague through Seattle and Fraser Wallace @Hoopydog(7g-18a-25pts) via Moscow through Vancouver Wolves. How much have they improved only the wildcard and the playoff will tell the whole story. The 9th best offense was led by Jimi Jaks @ke1vi(38g-45a-83pts) as he managed to finish top 10 in league in goals. Defensively Bobby Bob @Baby Boomer(15g-56a-71pts) led the way as the defender set career highs in goals and points. Joel Castle @animal74(32-28-3; 2.56ga; 0.920% & 6 SO) is still one of the best goaltenders in the league and should give New York Americans some fits if he can regain the form he had during the teams run to the Continental cup last season.

    ⬆️      4.
This team started the season completely unbeatable based around a high-flying offense of proven Stars!! Todd Cooke @KRZY(52g-53a-105pts) turned back the close and showed why he won the Scotty Campbell, Mike Szatkowski and Alexander Beketov Trophies back in S90; this time sharing the Kevin Brooks Trophy with AK92 Wit da Hoodie @hedgehog337 and should once again see his name mentioned in Scotty Campbell and Brett Slobodzian trophies conversation. Larry Abass Jr @RileyL(30g-56a-86pts), Jon Webber Jr @Webberj(33g-52a-85pts), Napoleon Dynamite @thadthrasher(29g-52a-81pts) and Sunglasses Joyo @JetsGoalie101(35g-43a-78pts) all finish with more than a point per game. If Defense was a question mark to start the season well, it simple remains an issue as no defenseman managed more than 55pts this season with Jens Lekman @Bobcat(13g-42a-55pts) and if they are going to get passed D.C. Dragons in the first round, they will need a very strong goaltending from Art Vandelay @Gustav (43-14-7; 2.51ga; 0.920% & 4 SO); not to mention the high-flying offense continuing to fire on all cylinders.

    🟰     5.
What a up and down season for the Americans as the team was to say the least inconsistent which is sort of expected from a young team with three rookies in their lineup with the biggest surprise coming from Rookie 36W @rory(29-27-6; 2.15ga; 0.932% & 2 SO) winning the Greg Clegane Trophy for the goaltender allowing the Lowest GAA; not to mention front runner for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy all season long due to his strong consistent goaltending. So, why is New York playing in the wildcard round than? Well, Lack of scoring really hurt this team as Jasper Davis @Josh(21g-42a-63pts) and Francesco Mancini @GioSivo(31g-30a-61pts) took a huge step back from the one hundred points that they collected the season before. Top offensive player for the Americans was FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Analfist @STZ(38g-37a-75pts) after coming over in a trade during the off season from Vancouver Wolves. Add in the fact that New York lacked a true number one defender this season as Callum Gary Yannick Janser @Daniel Janser(6g-49a-55pts) just wasn`t ready to take on this role completely as a rookie but should enough to know that he will be a top defender if he continues to develop. Trade during the season helped improve the team as New York brought in Alfred Champagne @Anthique(30g-25a-55pts) from Warsaw and Vinny Lecavalier @Spartakiller2(14g-22a-36pts) via Prague through Vancouver. If New York also won the season series against Toronto so watch out for this team as I feel they have unperformed so far this season; not to mention have no pressure after making the playoffs.

    🟰     6.
Yaroslav Trunov @qripll(46g-48a-94pts) was brought in to replace the departing Scotty Sundin @fromtheinside and early in the season made most around the league go Scotty who? While it was a strange move or a move that suggest that Chicago expected to make more moves before the season started but somehow, they fell through. In the end, it was still very much a transition season with two rookies Joshua Schwarzer @Velevra(26g-31a-57pts) and Lionel Collberg @Masu Chan(8g-42a-50pts) joining a second year goaltender in Ryan Artyomov @Enorama(25-34-5; 3.03ga; 0.920% & 2 SO) so not that surprising that they ended up missing the playoff this season. Chicago has majority of the core in place for next season and will look to add pieces this off season via draft, prospect, UFA and maybe trades but either way they should be stronger next season.

    🟰      7.
Rebuilding team had most of the excitement during the S92 draft when they selected what should be the core of the team future to come for many seasons when they drafted Logan Ninefingers @Scurvy; 1st overall; Riley Martin @Smarch, 4th overall; Vlad Von Carstein @Dom, 6th overall, Guntis Gavilrovs @Girts, 7th overall and DB IV @wcats, 12th overall. Add in the fact that the Vancouver could one again be picking in the top position of the draft depending in the draft lottery and the future is sky-high but what about this year’s team? Nick Sansoe @Tipskid97(32g-56a-88pts) led the team in scoring in what is a career shattering season and Liv Slater @Subject056(36g-51a-87pts) led the defense for the Wolves; not to mention set a new hybrid record for goals by a defensemen at 36 goals and also finished third in defensive points. Cannot also forget the strong play of Dalkr Vidarsson @KaleebtheMighty(26-32-6; 3.09ga; 0.925% & 5 SO) on a horrible Wolves team. Add in rookie Carson Walker Jr @Cwalker(32g-29a-61pts); who finished third in rookie scoring after start the season not even in the top ten rookie list. Impressive end to the season for the rookie forward. This team will make a step next season but will it be enough to make the playoffs? Time will tell.

    🟰      8.
Another team entering a rebuild of sorts as the Bears have talent in Severus Targaryen @Banackock(40g-49a-89pts) as he led the Bears attack this season and finished top 10 in goals; as well as Gustav Mattias @Berocka(11g-8a-19pts), Toby Kadachi @ROOKIE745(20g-23a-43pts) and Simons Worst Nightmare @zepheter(11g-38a-49pts); who led the team defense. So, the goal for the Bears this off season is to add more prospect and more talent to the roster to help aid the rebuild. Finish last overall in the league means they should be able to add a significant piece in the S93 Draft, which should help!!

Reason: It is easier to make prediction when the sample size is smaller so the fact that we had a short week aid me this week. Add in what was clearly an easier schedule for Helsinki Titans and second in the conference was always going to be theirs to lose. Simply too small of a game sample also to see a ton of movement in the standings so this was rather easy to get correct this week.

    Start of Season Predictions:

    🔻        1.
Entering the season on paper as the second-best team in the league so should have had a strong season; sounds familiar doesn`t it as I am sure this is what we said last season as well when Prague missed the playoffs on the final day of the regular season. So, what is wrong with the Phantom? Secondary scoring is the easiest answer when only two players on the roster score more than a point per game in the season; John Jameson @Frank(42g-61a-103pts) and Nikolas Kauppi @Tetricide(42g-45a-87pts). Both players finished top 10 in goals and Jameson also finished top 10 in points so if Prague had another player or two that could manage a point per game; one would assume that Prague would have been at the top of the standings. Defensively Prague was one of the better teams finish 4th in goals against led by Moritz Stauffer @GoodLeftUndone(10g-53a-63pts) and Velociraptor Greg @samx(19g-36a-55pts) with solid goaltending from Matt Murdock @Acydburn(30-24-10; 2.34ga; 0.932% & 3 SO). Changes will be coming sooner or later for Prague as four players will retire at the end of the season, Ben McLaughlin @Ben mclaughlin(19g-28a-47pts), Fred Hampton @TownBizness(29g-37a-66pts), Faith Hope Love @MMFLEX(5g-24a-29pts) and Velociraptor Greg. Add in the fact that Prague best three players are also set to retire at the end of the following season; John Jameson, Nikolas Kauppi and Matt Murdock; leave many wondering if they pull the trigger this off-season to start the rebuild or try to run it back for one more kick at the can? It could be a very interesting off season for Prague but they will be more focused on Wildcard round match up with London United and hoping for a deep run these playoffs.

    🟰       2.
While Helsinki Titans did eventually finish second in the conference as predicted; it really only happened in the final week of the season. Which might be a bit concerning for the Titans as they look to get back to the Continental Cup finals after losing out to Toronto Legion. The biggest question mark coming into the season was replacing the retired Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877 position on the top line beside star Daryl Dixon @Ricer13(50g-55a-105pts); who led the Titans in goals, points and should be receive some consideration for the Scotty Campbell, Brett Slobadzian and maybe the Scott Boulet trophies. Helsinki turned to rookie Grimgor Ironhide @FrostBeard(37g-45a-82pts) should be heavily consider for Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy after posting the highest points by a rookie since S83 when Bo Johansson @Shindigs; won the award with 81pts. Only one other Titan was over a point per game this season and that was the retiring Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito(15g-73a-88pts); who will take home the Alexander Beketov Trophy for leading the league in assist and should receive some consideration for Sterling Labatte and Alexander Valiq trophies, maybe also Jake Wylde Trophy. Another solid season from Fuukka Rask @Jubis(38-18-8); 2.27ga; 0.935% & 5 SO), who should also get consideration for Aidan Shaw Trophy. Overall it was a strong season for a ranked 3rd in the conference and 4th in the league.

    🔻      3.
Does a lack of a true number one defensemen hurt them that much? Well, I guess that is the biggest question when you look at the London United as London has top end forwards in Molly the Cat @JCarson(30g-45a-75pts), Wann Kerr @VattghernCZ(37g-43a-80pts) and Leonard Triller @Triller(37g-60a-97pts). Not to mention a top goaltender in Jesse Teno @aimkin(36-21-8; 2.51ga; 0.924% & 4 SO) so that means it has too be the defense right? Don`t get me wrong here as London on paper is one of the best teams in the league and the conference so even having them ranked as low as 3rd and the team finish the season in 4th just doesn`t feel right. When you look at the defense it is consistent with all four players in the 650-740 TPE range; so, Yeah, the only thing really holding back this team is a true number one defender that can put up 70-80pts while adding the offense. Lloyd Braun @Toast(8g-48a-56pts) led the back end this season. London is also enter a bit of a cross road period with only four players signed for next season and six players retiring over the next two seasons. But those are thoughts for the off season as London United are focused on Prague Phantoms in the Wildcard round and also hoping for a long playoff run.

    ⬆️     4.
Malmo Nighthawks surprised everyone as they started the season in what should have been a season where they would take a step backwards after trading away Yaroslav Trunov @qripll to Chicago Phoenix for S92 CHI 1st (Olafur Gunnleifsson @JartY) and than top defender Skor McFleury @Alex to Calgary Wranglers for S93 CGY 1st. While quickly replacing the departing McFleury in another trade that seen the Nighthawks acquire Conference Prince-de-Galles @UnkemptCL4PTP from Prague Phantoms. Fast forward and Malmo Nighthawks smashed the league this season to claim the Victory Cup but how did they do it? Well, Every teams success starts with a goaltender playing really well and comments by college seemed to light a fire under Ash Sparks @DarkSpyro(46-13-5; 2.23ga; 0.930% & 5 SO) after being suggested that he was a second tier goaltender. Well, This second tier goaltender could possible have his name in the conversation for the Aidan Shaw Trophy at the end of a very strong season in net for the Malmo Nighthawks. Doesn`t hurt either when you have the best offense in the league with six players finish the season at the point per game pace lead by Viktor Jensen @Advantage(35g-55a-90pts), Jacob Stone @scoop(23g-61a-84pts), Yaroslav Bogatyrev @Bojovnik(32g-52a-84pts), Reese McFleury @Spaz(19g-57a-76pts), Henry Eagles @Greg_Di(39g-36a-75pts) and Ronald Johnson MacWallace III @RJMW(31g-43a-74pts). With Jacob Stone showing the importance of having a true number one defenseman that can chip in offensively as his name surely will be mentioned for a few awards at the end of the season. The question now is can Malmo continue the strong offense and defense play heading into the playoff as the clear favorites to win the Continental Cup or will they choke like former Victory Cup winners before them; making the legendary curse of the Victory Cup grow even more. Time will tell but it was a great season for the Nighthawks.

    ⬆️    5.
Very young team that started season with four rookies entering their lineup left most wondering what would Moscow Menace be this season, either a solid team charging their way to the top of the standings or a team fighting to make the playoff via the Wildcard round. Well, Moscow should a team that developed quickly and quickly moved to the top of the European conference but that was also aid when they traded for Dogwood Maple @dogwoodmaple(35g-57a-92pts) of which 47pts game after being trade to Moscow Menace as Maple would produce at an incredible 1.5pts per game pace. With Maple in the lineup Moscow went on a impressive sixteen game winning streak and pulled themselves clear of the mid-pack of European teams.  Axle Gunner @Steve(33g-61a-94pts) and Left Alone @okochastar(38g-56a-94pts) led the offense charge again this season with no sophomore slump for Gunner. Rookie Leif Reingaard @Zetterberg(13g-49a-62pts) showed that he will be a true number defender for years to come and put the league on notice as he finished top 3 in Rookie scoring and fellow rookie Olober Syko @Spartan (38-22-4; 2.86ga; 0.919% & 2 SO) was solid between the pipes for the Menace. Who know face a tough test in the first round of the playoff against Helsinki Titans last season Continental Cup finalist but I am sure Moscow will be a menace for the Titans!!

    🟰     6.
While Riga Reign surprised the league last season, this was never going to be the case this season as the team got younger with rookie Red Panda @Lemorse7(28-30-5; 2.98ga; 0.917% & 1 SO) taking over in net as Riga traded veteran goaltender Henry Tucker Jr @NSG for a S93 DCD 1st and a prospect in Eno Velvson @Nykonax. As this season can be summed up as transition year with Kimi Raikkonen @mattyIceman, Eno Velvson and Jussi Jokinenegg @HearnNation67 all looking to make the Reign next season. Add in the three first round picks in this coming off season draft and Riga will quickly be a team to watch starting maybe as soon as next season. AK92 Wit da Hoodie @hedgehog337(52g-56a-108pts) will retire with two more trophies on his selves as he claims Mike Szatkowski and Kevin Brooks Trophies. While also being consider for Scotty Campbell and Brett Slobodzian Trophies. Babay Shrimp @Blazzer(33g-50a-83pts) also had a strong season and might be looking for a new home this off season as becomes an UFA. Eric White Jr @Mysterious_Fish(20g-34a-54pts) and Martin Kemp @leafsman(16g-28a-44pts) both had solid rookie campaigns finish top ten in rookie scoring. Riga Reign will be a much better team next season as they add more youth to a team that is currently rebuilding.

    🟰     7.
Feeling bad for a team that tried to add during the off season and tried to be competitive but ultimately fell way short of what the team expected when Warsaw traded for Dogwood Maple @dogwoodmaple, Alfred Champagne @Anthique, Rex Wolffe Gregor @oilmandan, Clueless Wallob @DMaximus and Thor Reingaard @N0HBDY during this past off season. At first it looked like good moves that would give the team a chance to be competitive fighting for the final wildcard spots but as the season progress it became very obvious that it just wasn`t going to be enough. Warsaw made the decision to get younger by trading everyone that they brought in during the off season except for Rex Wolffe Gregor @oilmandan(24g-40a-64pts); who led the Predators defense this season and should do so for a few more season barring a trade to another team during the off season. Maxim Anisimov @McLovin(35g-53a-88pts) led the offense in his second season and seen a significant improvement in his numbers up from 57pts the year before. King Kisslinger @Kisslinger(17g-33a-50pts) also improved in his second season and rookie Thor Reingaard @N0HBDY(24g-34a-58pts) finished top 5 in rookie scoring on the season. Warsaw also have prospects ready to join the roster next season in Behrens Minion @UnknownMinion, Joseph Dubois @Dubois and  Hannibal Barca @DreMin15 but without any first round picks in the next two drafts will really need to hope that some of their other prospect develop. It isn`t all doom and gloom in Warsaw as some might suggest.

    🟰     8.
The rebuild after the tear down starts really this off season for the HC Davos Dynamos with three first round picks and two in the lottery but don`t expect this team to become good overnight as the players that they select will need time to develop. Which brings to question the time frame of the rebuild and the two players under contract in David Jokinen @Ahma(22g-46a-68pts); who led the team this season offensively and defensively; and Lachlan Summers @kirbithan(17-40-6; 3.48ga; 0.922% & 2 SO). If we are correct in thinking the rebuild starting this off season mean another season of losing hockey before a up turn would be expected in S94 earliest, which would be Lachlan Summers finals season and David Jokinen second last season meaning wouldn`t it be better for these two player to be traded for future assets; if Davos can get the right asking price? Either way this will be a team to watch during this season draft as Davos drafts what should be their core future.

That it for the first week review and next week’s predictions. As always tell me below in the comment section how poor my predictions are and I will make sure to read them. Either way until next week Keep the sticks on the ice and your heads up!!

Velevra got a reaction from jacobcarson877 in Malmo Head Into Playoffs as Top Bird
Malmo Head Into Playoffs as Top Bird

The Malmo Nighthawks have been a dominant force in the S92 VHL season and today officially captured the Victory cup and established themselves as the frontrunners for the championship this year.  In a talented European conference Malmo has managed to amass an impressive 108 points with an overall record of 51 wins, 12 losses, and 6 overtime losses in 69 games.

What has really stood out to me as a pivotal factor in their success is their balanced scoring approach and the collective contributions from every part of their roster. While they currently don’t have a 90 plus point player, they currently have at least 6 players in Viktor Jensen, Jacob Stone, Yaroslav Bogatyrev, Reese McFleury, Henry Eagles, and Ronald Johnson MacWallace III at a point per game or above. They have also got outstanding contributions from their young S90 and S91 players who have put up at minimum 40 points in depth scoring.

As the playoffs kick off later this week, Malmo will mostly likely wait to play the winner of London and Prague in the wildcard series.  While both talented teams, it will be interesting to see if those teams can kick it up a gear to compete with the excellence the Nighthawks have displayed all season long.

Velevra got a reaction from Masu Chan in Chicago Phoenix Press Conference
1: If you were to make a brand of hockey stick what'd you want it to be called?
Schwarzwood, sort of a play on my player's name and Sherwood

2: Would you consider the Phoenix to be buyers or sellers at this season's deadline?
Depends on the market, could trade away some older players to stock the cupboard for the future or bring in some more young guys to help over the next few seasons

3: How many goals will your player score this season?
Looks like I'm starting to slow down playing on the second line/second PP so if I can get to 25 somehow that would be nice.

4: Who will be the MVP of the NHL All-Star games?
Austin Matthews, I'm clearly a prophet haha

5: Are you keeping track of prospects for the NHL draft? If so, who looks good to you?
Not really, I used to a bit when I was younger but dont really have the time/want to these days

6: Who is the MVP of your favorite hockey team right now?
I would give it to Quinn Hughes but lots of people performing well on the canucks right now

Here we are trade deadline done, would be All-star games done and everyone one is now looking forward to the play-offs but before we can even really talk about the play-off we have to finish a week and half of the season sims. A lot can still change with Calgary Wranglers and Los Angeles Stars fighting over who is going to win the North American Conference. Moscow Menace can kill any chance that New York Americans have of making the play-offs as they chase down Malmo Nighthawks for the Europe Conference lead; not to mention most likely the Victory Cup. Lets not forget about Draft Lottery with a ton on the line as Vancouver Wolves, HC Davos Dynamo, Riga Reign, Warsaw Predators and Seattle Bears. New York Americans trying to stay a live and Chicago Phoenix sneaking into the Play-offs? We will talk about most of this as we try to predict another week in the VHL!!

Reason: Calgary controlled their games against Los Angeles going 3-0 in the three-game set with another game set to start the week between both teams; this six-point swing in the standings is the different between Calgary claiming first in the conference rather than the predicated second. I wrote off Chicago last week; which as usually is the kiss of life as they destroyed New York this week 4-0 in the head-to-head series bring them right back into the play-off contention. New York fell apart this week thanks mainly to Chicago; with their only two wins coming in the final two days of sims. Luckily as we will get into soon New York has much easier schedule next week.

    Next Weeks Predictions:

    🟰               1.
Huge game at the start of the week might determine who actually finish first in the conference this week as Los Angeles and Calgary face off in a single game. D.C. Dragons and Chicago Phoenix will provide the biggest games of the week with two and three games respectively. I think Calgary should handle themselves against both of those teams so should be one of the hotter teams in the league; if I am wrong, they could easily find themselves with a five hundred record at the end of the week but should be enough to keep the Wranglers ahead in the standings. Calgary continues to get solid goaltending from Merome Dilson @MexicanCow123(2.29GA, 0.934sav% & 5 SO); which has them as one of the best defensive teams in the league. Add in a top five offense lead by Randy Bobandy @AJW(26G – 41A – 67pts(10th League)) and it not hard to see why Calgary is at the top of the North American Conference.

    🟰                2.
Last week I was correct that the Stars would face their most challenging week of the season and had a losing record for the first time this season. Well, a mixed bag schedules a waits them this week with huge series against Moscow (3 games) mixed with a few back to backs with Toronto, Helsinki, London, Prague all coming to town. If they can avoid splitting these series and win the majority of them out right, they could climb back into first in the conference. The biggest game of the week might be the first game against Calgary, as it might actually determine the final standing of the week. Five players over a point per game led by the retiring group of Todd Cooke @KRZY (36G(t-2nd League) – 39A – 75pts(5th League)); Jon Webber Jr @Webberj(23G – 42A(t-10th League) – 65Pts) and Napoleon Dynamite @thadthrasher(20G – 37A – 57pts). Other two player above a point per game are Larry Abass Jr  @RileyL(21G – 38A -59pts) and Sunglasses Joyo @JetsGoalie101(26G – 32A – 58pts). Which all has Los Angeles as top five offensive team. While retiring Art Vandelay @Gustav remains a top five goaltender with 2.17GA(5th), 0.929sav%(3rd) and 4 Shut-outs(t-2nd). Again not hard to see why the Stars are one of the best teams in the North American conference.

    🟰             3.
This is the area that everything can and most likely will go off the rails since D.C. Dragons have a tough schedule with very important series against Toronto Legion(3 games) and Calgary Wranglers(2 games). If they can split these series and not lose them outright then I think they should stay in Third but should they lose both series I expect Toronto will jump them in the standings. It feels like a treading water week for the Dragons but we will see if they decide to fly instead!! High flying offense is led by The Frenchman @OrbitingDeath (24G – 56A(1st League) – 80pts(2nd League)); Vincent Laroche-Gagnier @vincentlg2007(30G(10th League) – 36A – 66pts) and the retiring Jason @Jason kranz(34G(5th league) – 32A – 66pts). Defensively the Dragons are led by Mark Calaway @Beketov(17G – 44A(6th league) – 61pts(1st defense)).

    🟰             4.
Toronto Legion have a chance to at least close the gap to D.C. Dragons by the end of the week with a four game series against Vancouver Wolves; which they should win easily; two game series against LA Stars and three game series against D.C. Dragons. If they can win the games that they are supposed to and beat win the D.C. series; they might pull themselves out of the wildcard round by the end of the week. Toronto only has two players at a point per game with the team led in scoring by Jimi Jaks @ke1vi(26G – 28A – 54pts) and the other is defender Bobby Bob @Baby Boomer(9G – 44A(7th league) – 53pts(8th defense)), which really shows one of the team weakness; Goal scoring as they have the fifth worse goals for in the league tied with Seattle (junior cubs) Bears. Goals against are right in the middle of the pack, which would be a big reason the team is playing around five hundred hockey for most of the season.

    🔺              5.
For some reason it looks like I cannot give up hope that the Americans will actually play good hockey and make the play-offs. I would actually be scared of this team if they do make the play-offs since they have been very inconsistent week in and week out. New York had a tough one last week going 2-11-1; likely the worse weekly record of all teams all season. So what do they need to get back into the play-off hunt? Yup, an easy schedule; which New York should have this week with a four-game set against the Seattle Bears but mix in a few tough games against Moscow, D.C. and Prague meaning the team hopefully plays around five hundred and maybe better if they can tread water against three teams just mentioned. It is a make-or-break week for New York either you win and you are in or you lose and the season is done. Not a single player is over a point per game with FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Analfist @STZ(24G – 25A – 49pts) leading the team offense. 36W @rory(2.07GA(1st), 0.934sav%(2nd) & 2SO(8th)) remains impressive in net and should have done enough to keep the net after the team traded for Veteran Clueless Wallob @DMaximus (3.35GA, 0.888sav% & 0SO); who continues to struggle.

    🔻             6.
Feels wrong to move this team backwards down the standing after the strong week that they just had and bashed the team last week saying that they would miss the play-offs. Fast forward a week and Chicago Phoenix have a tough task with series against Malmo(4 games) and Calgary(3 games); not to mention Moscow and Helsinki (2 games); it could be a very tough week if they cannot split so of these series. Chicago could easily be given a death blow here with 4-10-0 record if not worse if they aren`t careful. Luckily for them even if they are given the kiss of death this week; they should be within a point or two of New York entering the final week for last play-off spot. So, this week is about damage limitation for Chicago and keeping the play-off hopes alive.  Yaroslav Trunov @qripll(36G(t-2nd league) – 43A(8th league) – 79pts(3rd league))  will need to continue to led the way offensively for the Phoenix. Chicago will need a bit more from Rookies Joshua Schwarzer @Velevra(20G – 22A -42pts(4th Rookies))  and Lionel Collberg @Masu Chan( 6G – 32A – 38pts(5th Rookies)); if the team is going to make the play-offs; which is a bit unfair to ask.

    🟰             7.
Nothing to look forward too? Not true the end of the season is a week and a half away so most in Vancouver will start to see where they standing the final rankings. Why? Draft lottery odds as Vancouver is locked in a battle with HC Davos; not for Championship this time; to improve their odds by finishing second worst team in the standings.  Seattle has locked up the best odds. Let also not forget the great season that Liv Slater @Subject056(28G – 30A -    58pts) might not get a ton of credit for as they lead all defender in goals, lead the league in power play goals and second in total shots blocked. Hopefully the award committee at least throws her a bone if not an award or two at the end of the season. Rookie Dalkr Vidarsson @KaleebtheMighty(3.15GA, 0.921sav% & 4 S0(t-3rd)) has been very stead in the crease for the Wolves. While offensively Nick Sansoe @Tipskid97(16G – 45A – 61pts) has been over a point per game player most of the season. These three players will be thankful of the help that should come next season.

    🟰             8.
Locked into last as Seattle are ten points behind Vancouver and HC Davos so one would assume that they are set for a rebound next season, well, not so fast with a high draft pick helping to improve an already young team with Severus Targaryen @Banackock(28G – 37A -65pts) leading the way with Gustav Mattias @Berocka(9G -7A – 16pts) and Toby Kadachi @ROOKIE745(15G – 15A -30pts) making up a solid core at forward. Adding to this core will help but won`t completely turn the team around in a single season. Having two more picks in what looks like deep S94 draft will go a long way to aiding the rebuilding process. Seattle also needs to find a solution in net; which is likely Giorgiy Costanzov @Mongoose87 and build around Simons Worst Nightmare @zepheter on the blueline. Will they take a step next season? Only time will tell!!

Reason: Missed the fact that Warsaw had a very easy schedule last week as they beat up on teams near the bottom of the standings; Riga twice, Seattle four times, Vancouver and Davos. Add in a few surprise wins against Los Angeles and New York and you have a standing that is a bit bloated and looks more impressive than it really is. Otherwise, It was a near perfect week in the European conference for this writer.

    Next Weeks Predictions:

    🟰           1.
Mixed bag schedule with a series against Moscow(2 games) and visit from the top two teams in the North American conference means the Hawks will have some tough hockey to play entering the play-offs. I have the Hawks staying above five hundred and actually closer to 0.700 so should have no problem holding the lead of the European conference. Viktor Jensen @Advantage(26G – 40A – 66pts) continues to fly like a Hawk leading the offense as the Hawks have five players over a point per game. Other being Yaroslav Bogatyrev @Bojovnik(24G – 35A – 59pts) and Ronald Johnson MacWallace III (23G – 31A – 55pts). While the team is lead defensively by Jacob Stone @scoop(16G – 43A(9th league) – 59pts(t-2nd defense))  and Reese McFleury @Spaz(14G – 41A – 55pts(7th defense)). Ash Sparks @DarkSpyro(2.31GA(5th), 0.926sav%(6th) & 5SO(t-1st)) continue to keep the Hawks defense in the top 3 in the league.

    🟰           2.
Coming of an 13-0-1 week and 16 straight wins means I have nothing bad to say about this time; right!! Moscow has two tough series this week with Malmo(2 games) and Los Angeles(2 games) otherwise they should really cruise this week. Moscow also hold New York chances at making the play-off with a three-game series; which New York must win two of the three. Moscow could catch Malmo but really comes down to the head-to-head series; which I feel they split; leaving Moscow a few points behind at the end of the week. Moscow offense has been completely unstoppable since trading for retiring veteran Dogwood Maple @dogwoodmaple(12G – 14A – 26pts in 14 games with the Menace) led by the duel of Left Alone @okochastar(32G(6th league) – 41A – 73pts(6th league))  and Axle Gunner @Steve(23G – 49A(t-2nd league)  – 72pts(7th league)). Rookies in Moscow have been solid from Leif Reingaard @Zetterberg(12G – 39A – 51pts(10th league & 2nd Rookies) and Olober Syko @Spartan (2.69GA(9th), 0.923sav%(9th) & 1SO(t-9th)). It will be interesting to see if the rookies and young team can hold it together under the pressure of play-off hockey.

    🔺           3.
Games in hand and what looks to be a fairly easy schedule down the stretch with toughest games coming from series with Malmo and Los Angeles; two games each. London should win the majority of the games this week as Prague and Helsinki possible take points off each other. This should be enough for London to jump into third with half week remaining. Four players are currently at a point per game pace with Leonard Triller @Triller(26G – 39A – 65pts) leading the way while Wann Kerr @VattghernCZ(25G – 34A – 59pts) and Molly the Cat @JCarson(21G – 37A – 58pts); cat fight over second. Halvar Torbjorn @Rayzor_7(22G – 31A – 53pts) is the third player at a point per game pace.

    🔻          4.
The next two teams are interlocked in the standings, point and in my predictions this week as they face off against each other for a three-game series that will determine who finish 4th and who finish 5th this week. I am a chicken so I have split the series mean status que!! Daryl Dixon @Ricer13(31G(8th League) – 39A – 70pts(9th league)) continue to lead the offense that sits just outside the top 5. While Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito(10G – 49A(t-2nd) – 59pts(t-2nd defense))  continue to be a huge factor in the blueline for the Titans. Rookie Grimgor Ironhide @FrostBeard(30G(t-9th league) – 27A – 57pts(1st Rookies))  continues to be impressive and most likely in any other season would be the front runner for Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy, formerly known as the Bossy Trophy.

    🔻            5.
Prague has a slightly tougher schedule this week with a mix of different opponents from a three-game series against Helsinki, a two-game series against D.C. while also facing three of the top four teams in the league; so, one would think it could be a tough week, right? I don`t see it that way!! If Prague can at least split against Helsinki than the Phantoms should play right around five hundred hockey staying close to Helsinki and London; if not they will fall back but not out of the play-offs. Prague offense runs through two player in John Jameson @Frank(32G(7th League) – 46A(4th League) – 78pts(4th league)) and Nikolas Kauppi @Tetricide(34G(4th League) – 37A – 71pts(8th league)). While Moritz Stauffer @GoodLeftUndone(8G – 40A – 48pts) continue to lead the backend. Matt Murdock  @Acydburn(2.15GA(2nd), 0.936%(1st) & 3SO(t-6th)) is have a strong second half to the season and has walked himself into conversation for a few awards at the end of the season.

    🟰           6.
Crazy to think Warsaw went on a heater last week but that was really down a easy schedule so welcome back to reality. Traded away most of the older players and have a rest with a younger core made up of Maxim Anisimov @McLovin(17G – 34A -51pts), Thor Reingaard @N0HBDY(17G -26A – 43pts(3rd Rookies)) and King Kisslinger @Kisslinger(12G – 22A -34pts). Warsaw will need to find a prospect or two to help rebuild the back-end but having Rex Wolffe Gregor @oilmandan(17G – 28A – 45pts) for another two seasons should buy them much needed time. Biggest concern moving forward has to be between the pipes but that could be filled by prospect Pipo Popa @npuBeT. Either way Warsaw should play around five hundred hockey this week as the look forward to the off-season.

    🟰           7.
It could be back and forth between Riga and Warsaw over the next week as the two should match either with similar records. So, I am expecting no movement between these two teams. Riga future at the moment looks a lot brighter with Rookies Red Panda @Lemorse7(2.94GA, 0.915sav% & 0 SO), Mina @Baozi(5G – 18A – 23pts) and Eric White Jr  @Mysterious_Fish(12G -24A -36pts(7th Rookies)) adding to an already young core. Not to mention three more top prospect this off-season as they have three first round picks in the S93 draft.

    🟰          8.
Does it matter? Yeah, as mentioned Davos is fighting Vancouver for better lottery odds to improve their chances of getting a better pick during the S93 draft. So, it might surprise you that I have them playing just under five hundred hockey and should jump a head of the Vancouver Wolves in the overall standings. Yeah!! I am mean no!! If this is the case it hurts their odds but should provide some interest in the race for last. Catchy name would have been better but yeah!! Not even sure who is on the team any more other than David Jokinen @Ahma and Lachlan Summers @kirbithan. Davos rebuild really starts this off season in the S93 Draft with three first round picks and should continue through the S94 draft where Davos hopes to be a huge factor the drafts floor holding multiple picks.

That it for the first week review and next week’s predictions. As always tell me below in the comment section how poor my predictions are and I will make sure to read them. Either way until next week Keep the sticks on the ice and your heads up!!

    @Zetterberg the graphic maker

So, a few things I learned this week that a 72 game schedule actually breaks down better if you do 24 game intervals rather than 20 games!! 🤪 That means if I continue to look at awards in the future like this and actually I think I might consider expanding on this next season as this was actually a fun way to track rookies and who are the front runners as I normal don`t pay that much attention to the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy so hopeful this has drove some more interest towards the Rookies as it has for me. This week we see three players drop off the ranking while others move up with two new comers to the ranking. We have a clear group of three players at the top and than clear group of seven players that are very tight with 32 games remaining and only my final ranking to go; who moves up or down in the final rankings.......

Either way that is the future as we are here to look at the rankings this week ........

Continues to be the front runner for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy and only strength his cases as he is only getting stronger as the season has progressed. Now leads the league with the best goals against average and save percentage so should as mentioned last time have a good chance at collecting other hardware at the end of the season if his play continues.

    2.     (S91) LW - Grimgor Ironhide @FrostBeard

    22G(12th) – 21A – 43pts(30th)
    🟰   (2nd Last Ranking)
Rather impressive for a Rookie to be at a point per game pace as the last winner of the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy to do so was Molly the Cat (36G – 37A -73pts) with London United back in S85 so it is hard to believe that Ironhide might finish the season with more than a point per game as he is on pace for 76-78pts and might not win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy.

    3.     (S91) Defenseman - Leif Reingaard @Zetterberg

     9G – 31A - 40pts(9th Defense)
    🟰   (3rd Last Ranking)
Really not a lot to choose between Ironhide and Reingaard as it really comes down to preference for either top scoring forward or a top end defenseman. While I had consider moving up Reingaard due to the fact that he is a defender putting up similar numbers I more look at Ironhide and Reingaard as 2A and 2B at the moment.

    4.     (S91) Left Winger - Joshua Schwarzer @Velevra

    14G – 17A – 31pts
    🟰   (4th Last Ranking)
If Leif Reingaard and Ironhide are 2A and 2B than the next two players are really 3A and 3B as there isn`t much to choose between then and the sadist aspect is the fact that both players are losing touch with the top three in Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy race. Schwarzer will need to have a strong second half of the season if Chicago is going to stay in the play-off hunt and Schwarzer in the hunt for the Christian at the end of the season.

    5.     (S91) Right Winger - Thor Reingaard @N0HBDY

                14G – 17A – 31pts

It will be interesting to see what happens to Thor Reingaard production after a Warsaw Predators started selling off assets just before the trade deadline. This could either boost Thor production as he will have more looks or it could hurt his chances due to lower end skill level around him. This makes Thor a very interesting prospect to watch moving forward for the remainder of the season.

    6.     (S90) Defender - Conference Prince-de-Galles @UnkemptCL4PTP

    5G – 25A – 30pts
    ⬆️  (10th Last Ranking)
As Malmo Nighthawks climb to the top of the European Conference might have surprised a few; it shouldn`t be surprised that one of their Rookies has also moved up in the standings for Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy. Prince-de-Galles has been rather consistent improvement compared to some of the other rookies as he had 13pts in the last ranking and 17pts in the same period of games. If he continues to show the same improvements over the remaining games in the second half he might just walk his way into the conversation for Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy by the end of the season.

    7.     (S91) Defender - Lionel Collberg @Masu Chan

    4G – 25A – 29pts
    ⬆️   (Not Ranked)
Was third in team scoring for the Chicago Phoenix just a few points behind team mate and fellow rookie Joshua Schwarzer; giving fans and management in the Windy City a ton of promise and hope for the future. Another defender that seems to be getting more and more comfortable as the season progresses and like Prince-de-Galles; might just be able to walk himself into the conversation for Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy. Only time will tell.

    8.     (S89) Right Winger - Carson Walker Jr @Cwalker

    13G – 16A – 29pts
    ⬆️   (Not Ranked)
With Vancouver trading away most of the producing players around the team in collecting future assets and depth players, allowing Walker Jr to step into some important roles as rookie this season as the Wolves continue to rebuild. Walker Jr has been impressing enough to move up onto the list this week.

    9.     (S90) Left Winger - Eric White Jr @Mysterious_Fish

    10G – 18A – 28pts
    ⬆️   (Not Ranked)
Eric White Jr climbed back onto the list this week as three players fall off the list from the previous rankings. Add in slight upturn in offensive numbers has seen the Rookie from Riga pull away from a group that he was tied with last ranking. At 0.7pts per game pace, White Jr is on pace for a solid 50pt campaign.

    10.  (S91) Goaltender - Olober Syko @Spartan

                22-12-2    2.76GA(9th)      0.921%(9th)        0 SO
               🔻  (6th Last Ranking)
Olober Syko has dropped in the ranking for the second straight time but this time it is more due to me actually trying to place the tender in a more fitting location as he is the 9th best goaltender in league of sixteen starters. Add in the fact we have a group of players really close to each other it simply made it harder to place the goaltender in the middle or above that group of players. His numbers are slightly going the wrong way but in the end that really doesn`t matter as Moscow and Syko simple keep winning.
