Overview

Despite the on-going lacklustre performance by the Mexico City Kings, there is no doubt that Bastian Greiss is destined for greatness. Previous to the addition of Bastian Greiss to the Kings roster, the kings had only managed to procure 2 wins; since Greiss’s addition the Kings have managed to put up another 11 wins. While Greiss is still new to the league, he has managed to find his footing quick. He is currently being interviewed by VHL teams pre-draft and everyone’s eyes are on him as the 2nd highest goalie in the current pre-draft rankings.
Greiss has been continuously been improving since his first VHLM game and shows no sign of slowing down.

Pros:
•    Greiss has been extremely punctual on his TPE earning
•    Greiss has a strong capability of bouncing back after tough games. His consistency has been strong showing that he does not easily fall into a slump
•    Greiss is currently in the top 10 goaltenders in the league in save percentage ranking 5th
•    Griess is an outstanding team leader, he frequents the locker room conversation and always has an inspirational quote or message ready to amp up the team
•    Greiss has taken on a team management role in his first season showing great leadership and teamwork skills
•    Greiss is a lateral genius, he has demonstrated above average crease play and is always quick to the rebound.

Cons:
•    Greiss doesn’t like to sit back and take a beating from players that get too close, shown through his double minor penalty for slashing
•    Greiss still has a lot of work to do on his aggressiveness when coming out of the net to play the puck, he tends to stay in the net and chose a safer option
•    Griess also needs to put in some more work on his skating ability, he isn’t a quick skater, and is often too slow to the bench on delayed penalties
•    Finally, Griess isn’t known for his 1on1 ability. He hasn’t faced many breakaway or penalty shots yet, but when he does, he often gets flustered and over-commits to a save which ultimately makes it easier for players to deke around him

While Bastian Griess still has a lot of work to do to get to the top of his game, there is no doubt that he would be a strong asset to any VHL team that would be willing to give this young rookie a shot.
