Asher Reinhart Rookie Season

It wasn't more than a season ago that I was playing in the VHLM Finals game 7 trying to make our team the one holding the cup at the end. However we didn't get the happy ending that we hoped to get as a team. There were a number of my team mates who were all going to be going high in the draft and as much as I would have loved to be drafted high but when draft night came around, even though Asher was one of the top performers in that playoff, he ended up being drafted behind 3 of his teammates though.

Asher was drafted 6th overall to the Toronto Legion, after some issues with his visa where he might have played for the Helsinki Titans, Asher was able to play on the first line and the third line and in doing so he was able to help. Asher was not the biggest force on the ice but when his team needed him he was there for them. Even though he is still young in his career there was one thing that he could stand toe to toe with anyone on the ice. That was his face-off skill. Asher came into the league being on of the best in the VHLM and even though he didn't have the best numbers he was better than players is own age as well as some whom are much older than him. He ended his rookie campaign with 12 goals and 20 assists. Nothing to write home about but taken into consideration that being on a team that could compete for a spot in the playoffs means that he will be getting less time than some of his fellow draft-mates.

Toronto ended up going to the playoffs where even though Asher didn't have the best numbers he was still able to help his team get some points He got a goal and two assists in this playoff games he played this season, they didn't go far only playing in the first round but being such a young member on a team full of veterans means that at the end of the day he wasn't getting the most glorious ice time. with good reason he hasn't earned it yet, but it does make it hard to play decent for a rookie and look at former teammates who were able to get many more points than him because they were able to get more propionate playing time on a worse team.
