Any All is the game mode that gives evils the best chance to win which is why I pick it. Town has a huge advantage especially in forums mode

While the logic on this is sound, so many players who haven't had a chance to see how it works normally wind up not having any idea how to use the town advantage your referring to.

Last game was standard mafia and I overruled the vote because a few people were speaking out against doing any all in particular. I get that some people don't like it but since I made the vote meaningless last game I'm not going to do that twice in a row.

Still time for votes to roll in too 👁️

I think I've reached the point where I've started alternating back and forth between standard and all any each game. Having predefined claim space can make things a bit easier for Town but I definitely get the anxiety/burnout from having no info at all. It's usually why when I do standard games I still try to throw in one or two Anys just so there's a bit more wiggle room in the claim space.

I wonder if we couldn't come up with some middle ground role list where it's like half defined and half Any. Though tbh that wouldn't really be much different than how All Any is now anyway.

I guess you could do something like:

1 Jailor/Mayor

1 TI

1 TP

1 TS

1 TK

1 Evil Leader (GF/CL/Random Coven)

1 Random Evil

1 NK

1 RN

Rest Any

It would give you a baseline of what to expect while still mostly being more chaotic. Though that said most Any All games tend to fit that break down anyway unless they are small. And it would reduce the chance of having a more varied Evil loadout.

Honestly an Any All game with one evil faction doesn't have any different of a role breakdown from a standard game because I want the role list to at least be logical and fair. The only difference is the possibility of two evil factions...where I try to apply that same principle. It's why I truly don't care which format is picked unless something hasn't been picked in a long time or I have to explain again why Town Traitor is stupid.

I would be more ok with Town Traitor if like the traitor became Mafioso once Mafia is dead or something like that.

I try to keep them reasonable but I don't stick to a defined list. I think my All Anys usually end up with more neutrals than an average game but the other proportions tend to be similar. Having the mystery of whether or not Town has majority is part of the fun and makes it less likely for evils to be like "hey there's 5 Town and 6 evil roles, let's just not vote and kill them off tonight".
