VHLE Poll #2: Paris and Berlin

So you voted, we listened, Rome, Paris, and Berlin will be on the final poll for the VHLE. Rome will be represented by the Gladiators, but Paris and Berlin? We've got a few options.

 

Note that the logos below are not necessarily final, but can be completed once a name is chosen.

Paris Guardians doesn't have a French touch IMO, while if you say 'rev-o-loo-SEE-YAH' it sounds kinda Frecnh which was what swayed me

googling “Berlin Foxes” and you get a lot of these little critters roaming the streets for many years apparently. This question and finding these results swayed my vote today.

I get the connection to Paris and some of the logos I've seen are cool but "Paris Revolution" has always sounded stupid to me as a team name for some reason. Not sure why but I'm 100% more in favor of Guardians.

I voted for Berlin Steel and Paris Guardians, but we should def have a big vote on final logos too, maybe even check out that site where some of the current logos were bought.

Glad to hear from an actual German about the horrible idea of a tank logo for Berlin.  Listen to him.  WWII, Holocaust, Nazis.  This gets picked and I may be exiting the VHL.

 

Seriously, I cannot even believe this got out of the room it was discussed in so that it was put to a vote.  Very, very disappointing.  And it's winning by a 2-1 margin.  I am so sad for the league.

yeah fuck a tank (dont fuck a tank fuck a tank as a logo). why the fuck is this being considered. the dark history of how tanks were used in germany is not something i want to celebrate, and might retire my player if i ended up on that team

They aren't necessarily getting a team.

 

This is just gathering league opinions.

 

While you look at it that way, not everyone thinks of that when looking at a logo and name (especially one labelled "Steel").  That being said, I agree that given a few people's significant concerns, that perhaps a new logo (something else that resembles Steel) or perhaps a new name could be thought.

 

Though honestly...don't really think Berlin should get a team myself.  Don't need 2 German teams imo.

Here is my honest take: I'm not insulted it was used, I totally get the Steel portion and I understand Steel may relate to the revolution in industry progression years ago. I just think there are more things that could represent Germany better like the following

 

• Oktoberfest (Think a festival style logo)
• Autobahn
• Castles
• Beer (Think Milwaukee Brewers)

True more things that could probably represent even the Steel branding with Germany better that is in better taste. I'll readily admit I voted for Steel and Revolution without realizing we had logo mock ups in the post, and while I didn't hate either logo I also should of flagged the tank thing as maybe too aggressive when I saw it after the fact as well. Not even just with Germany and the history, using weapons or war visuals in sports teams logo's isn't exactly commonplace so it's worth calling out. I mean you've seen some celebratory swords and whatnot, sometimes a carrier/ship type design, but it's not like sports teams can get away with an AR touting mascot or anything so why would a tank somehow be just as appropriate even with that comparison in mind right.
