Corey Kitson Junior Review

Corey Kitson is the son of @KitRas, the legendary VHLM GM who won back to back championships in his three seasons with the Bratislava Watchmen. No stranger to hockey, it is not a surprise that Mario De Rossi decided to raise his son as a hockey player. Corey Kitson was enrolled in minor league hockey at the age of 3, right after learning how to skate. The early years of his hockey career were very uneventful. In the minors Corey Kitson was focused on figuring out how to skate rather than be a good hockey player. It took a lot of time and patience from De Rossi before his efforts finally payed off. At 8 years old Corey joined the Crowfoot Orange Coyotes, a community hockey novice team. His life then consisted of school, practice, and games, much like any other good ol' Canadian boy's life did.

Kitson kept playing throughout elementary and junior high. Finally in Grade 9 he tried out for the local AAA time, and much to his surprise, he made it. His first year on AAA he was playing second line minutes while taking his dads advice and practicing outside of school. In that first season he put up solid second pair numbers, but not the offensive numbers he wished for. His grade 10 year saw him become eligible for the WHL draft, and, unfortunately, being just a 2nd pair dman on some random AAA team made him get passed over by every team in every round. But still, Kitson kept working on his game and with his dad to be the best player he could be.

It wouldn't be until college when Kitson got his first offer from the University of Minnesota to play hockey for them. Fans of the Golden Gophers weren't fans of Kitson, believing he only got an offer because of nepotism. Kitson heard this while on social media, and made it his goal to prove them wrong. In his freshman year he scored 8 goals and 15 assists for a total of 23 points. Professional teams started to take notice, but only after he completed his sophomore year did he receive professional offers. Kitson's dream was always to play in VHL, just like his dad. Most Canadian kids dream of the NHL, but Kitson was different. He declared he'd be entering the upcoming VHLM draft to continue his career. Currently he's on a PTO with the Las Vegas Aces and playing big minutes for the non-playoff team.
