@Ricer13

Welcome to the S80 VHL/E/M trade deadline recap! Here we will take a look at all the action that took place on trade deadline day and for trades specifically the week leading up to it! While you’re here please check out some of the other VSN articles that have been published recently:

S80 Under 200 Power Rankings | VHL's All-Decade Team: S1-S10 | The Seattle Bears Dynasty

:vhllogo: VHL :vhllogo:

The VHL had a relatively quiet trade deadline as no players were traded on the day. Leading up to the trade deadline there were 3 trades involving a lot of players and picks going to new teams.

NYA/LDN

:nya: New York receives: :nya:

Yuuto Kira Cloudera @kentakira

:ldn: London receives: :ldn:

S81 DAV 3rd

Exactly a week before the trade deadline London sent Yuuto Kira Cloudera to New York for a S81 3rd round pick (originally belonging to Davos). Being traded is nothing new to Cloudera as they have already been traded 3 times in the VHL career and played for 5 different teams, with their longest tenure being the 112 games they played for London. In their career the defensemen has amassed 39 goals, and 134 assists for 173 points in 275 games played. Notably Cloudera’s physical stats are quite impressive with 566 hits and 506 career blocked shots. Since being traded they have 2 goals and 8 assists in 18 games played for New York.

VAN/WAR

:que: Vancouver receives: :que:

Dakota Lamb @dlamb

:war: Warsaw receives: :war:

Sheldon Juniper @fyrefly

S81 VAN 1st

S81 VAN 3rd

Now this was a big one, As Warsaw sent their longtime team leader to Vancouver in exchange for Sheldon Juniper, a S81 1st, and a S81 3rd. Having played in Warsaw for 6 full seasons Lamb was the figurehead of the team and he let everyone know that on the ice as in 478 games for the Predators Lamb had 246 goals, and 362 assists for 608 points! Since being traded Lamb has continued their production scoring 26 points in 16 games. Going back the other way was Sheldon Juniper who has been relatively consistent throughout his career and has scored 130 goals and added 175 assists for a total of 305 points in 347 games played. Both Lamb and Juniper will be retiring at the conclusion of the season.

DCD/WAR

:dcd:  D.C. receives: :dcd:

Victor Grachev @KaleebtheMighty

S81 WAR 4th

:war: Warsaw receives: :war:

Markuss Puhovs @VOID Stiles

S82 DCD 2nd

Warsaw’s second trade leading up to the deadline saw them move away from the longest tenured player in franchise history in Victor Grachev as they were sent along with a S81 4th to D.C. in exchange for Markuss Puhovs and a S82 2nd. During his tenure with Warsaw Grachev was extremely consistent, never scoring below 60 points with a career high of 101 coming just last season. Puhovs on the other hand is a much younger defensemen who still has a couple seasons left in their career and to this point has played for 4 different teams in 3 seasons, across these four teams Puhovs has scored 75 points in 195 games played. Grachev is retiring at the end of this season and Puhovs’ contract will be expiring.

In what was a pretty quiet week heading up to the deadline, some things were made very clear, D.C. and Vancouver are trying to cash in and win now, while Warsaw departs from their 2 longtime players in exchange for future options indicating the start of a rebuild.

 VHLE

Similar to the entire season, there was not a single trade made in the VHLE as all the teams are pretty close and each and every one of them could win the Unnamed Cup!

:vhlmlogo: VHLM :vhlmlogo:

As per usual the VHLM had a lot of roster moves in general on trade deadline day, and 3 trades.

SSK/YUK

:ssk: Saskatoon receives: :ssk:

S81 MIS 2nd

S81 YUK 4th

:yuk: Yukon receives: :yuk:

Nikita Eklund @Ekky

S81 HOU 5th

This trade saw Saskatoon saying goodbye to longtime player Nikita Eklund in exchange for a S81 MIS 2nd and a S81 YUK 4th, adding in a S81 HOU 5th as well originally acquired from Philadelphia earlier this season. Nikita Eklund has been a staple on the Wild blueline for the better part of 2 seasons now and in 133 total VHLM games has scored 13 goals and 84 assists for 97 points. Eklund was drafted 39th overall in the S80 VHL draft by London.

MIN/HOU

:osl: Minnesota receives: :osl:

Nils Godlander @Moon_50

:hou: Houston receives: :hou:

cube whale @Whalecube

S82 MIN 2nd

The first of two trades saw the #2 overall pick in the VHLM draft Nils Goodlander go to Minnesota in exchange for Cube Whale and a S82 MIN 2nd. Nils Godlander

Has been having a great season this season and now has 40 goals and 98 points in 56 games played. Godlander is now back playing with the team he signed to as a waiver player last season so only time will tell if Godlander has any chemistry with some of his old teammates. Cube Whale is an interesting player and has had a very interesting career in the VHLM, after signing with Mississauga as a waiver player in season 78 Whale would produce 20 points in 50 games, good enough to see them be selected 74th overall by Halifax in the 79 VHLM draft. Following the draft Whale was declared inactive and subsequently dropped by Halifax only to sign with Minnesota with only 12 games remaining in the season, where they have played prior to the trade. In 118 VHLM games Whale has 62 points.

MIN/HOU

:osl: Minnesota receives: :osl:

James glove dropper @Jamomayo

:hou: Houston receives: :hou:

Oskar Kiprusoff @Bobo

S81 MIN 3rd

S82 MIN 5th

The second trade between Houston and Minnesota was very similar to the first as Houston would send top forward James Glove Dropper to Minnesota in exchange for Oskar Kiprusoff, a S81 MIN 3rd, and a S82 MIN 4th. Glove Dropper has done well this season and his career numbers are quite impressive as they have scored 112 points in 93 VHLM games. Kiprusoff on the other hand has been very productive as well, having scored 76 points in 63 career VHLM games including 7 with Houston in only 4 games.

That's it for all the trades made in the VHLM leading up to the trade deadline with some pretty interesting trades being made between Houston and Minnesota. In addition to the trades the VHLM saw a lot of new players on trade deadline day, here’s a quick rundown of where they signed:

:ott: Ottawa Lynx: :ott:

Max Torq @Steve

:yuk: Yukon Rush: :yuk:

Tavish DeGroot @rory

Kakapo Bushtit @Esso2264

:osl: Minnesota Storm: :osl:

Cole Pearce @N0HBDY

Calix Pearce @Laine

:phi: Philadelphia Reapers: :phi:

Perry Laperriere @KaleebtheMighty

Nagy Al @bigAL

Vasile Lamb @dlamb

Amiens Brillant @dart

Mievaldis Arpa @16z

:ssk: Saskatoon Wild: :ssk:

Wumbo @Fire Vigneault

Thank you for reading this season’s trade deadline recap, best of luck to all the teams in the playoffs!
