Groves' Four Goals Power Team USA To Bronze Medal

 

WJC Medal Round - While Team USA and Team Europe would certainly have preferred to be playing for the gold medal, there was no doubt that both teams left it all on the ice with the bronze medal on the line. In a thrilling game filled with offensive production, Team USA came away with the hard-earned bronze medal courtesy of William Groves' @Will3 fourth goal of the game, powering Team USA to a 6-5 victory over Team Europe. 

 

With Team Europe holding a 4-3 lead entering the third period, Groves scored his second goal of the game just 20 seconds into the period to tie the game. However, Girts Galvins @Girts gave the lead back to Team Europe eight minutes into the period. Unfortunately for Europe, the next two goals were both scored by Groves, giving Team USA the winning margin in one of the most dominant performances in recent memory. 

 

Milan Dvorak @solas scored two goals and an assist for Team Europe, with Bo Johansson @Shindigs tallying two assists. Brian Payne @Scurvy tallied three assists for Team USA, with Brian Kowalski @Wheaties scoring a goal and an assist.
