Renaissance Cup Final Game 1 - Bratislava Watchmen vs Vasteras Iron Eagles

 

The VHLE season may be over but it's never a bad thing to look back at games and talk about them. Bratislava and Vasteras were facing off in the first game of the Renaissance Cup Final and were each looking to start off the series strong. It was a tight game as both teams found themselves scoreless in the first frame. Vasteras had a slight 4 shot on goal edge over Bratislava but it did not matter as the goal section of the scoreboard showed two donuts. In the second period, it was closer between the two teams in terms of shots on goal with Vasteras outshooting Bratislava by one shot on goal, 12-11. However, the stat that probably matters more is that the Vasteras outscored Bratislava in that period by one goal, courtesy of Leandro Goncalves three minutes into the second. Both teams fought hard in the second but that proved to be the only goal of the frame. Vasteras was leading 1-0 heading into the third and looked to defend that lead. Their defensive corps were excellent and only allowed Bratislava to have three shots on goal, none going in. That gave Vasteras the first win of the final.
