Good evening and welcome to the season 83 Victory Hockey League Awards show! Over the course of the next couple of hours we will reveal the winner of each and every VHL awards winner. This season saw several storylines come up, with Seattle’s run to the Continental Cup, the intense playoff race in the EU, and the emergence of Saku Kotkakoivu.

Tonight we will celebrate and reflect on season 83, as we award the league's biggest hardware and players, they become recognized as S83 legends and a few may even build their case for The Hall of Fame. I hope you’re ready, Let’s get this thing started!

Now we move onto what I would call the most prestigious award the VHL has to offer: the Frederik Elmebeck Trophy. Named in honour of Frederik Elmembeck, who from what I’ve heard was an incredible person who engaged the community with passion and positive energy on a daily basis before he was taken from us far too soon. This award is to honor the lasting legacy of Elmebeck by recognizing the member who best served the VHL community.

This season, the nominees, as selected by you, the VHL community, are:

@Beketov - long-term league commissioner, and simmer

@samx - VHLM GM, Mod, supportive and hard-working

@Spartan - VHL GM, and a few other league jobs, very active and supportive

@Shindigs - VHLM GM, great with new members

@nurx- VHLM AGM, extremely engaged and VHLM Magazine work

@Dil - Development of VHL app, portal/coding, and mod

@Doomsday - VHL GM, work with the implementation of hybrid attributes and BOG work

And the winner is…

Spoiler

@Beketov and @Dil! Congratulations!

Dil - 4, Beketov - 4, nurx - 3, Doomsday - 1, samx/Shindigs/Spartan - 0

The Dustin Funk is awarded to that season's most improved player, this season we had a lot of players take a huge step forward. For this award each VHL GM can nominate 1 player from their own team, this ensures that no player is overlooked in any way. This can lead to a crowded field and with that it was narrowed down to six finalists, who stood out above the rest. These were:

S82: Anze Miklavz @kelvi :rig: - 30G, 23A, 53P, 12, 116PIM, 306HIT, 30SB

S83: Anze Miklavz :rig: - 36G, 74A, 110P, 47, 77PIM, 188HIT, 26SB

S82: Oskar Lindbergh @Doomsday :tor: - 63GP, 29-27-5, 0.913SV%, 3.45GAA, 3SO, 2390SA

S83: Oskar Lindbergh :tor: - 64GP, 35-26-3, 0.926SV%, 2.26GAA, 8SO, 1969SA

S82: Xavier Booberry @CowboyinAmerica :hel: - 66GP, 27-27-8, 0.920SV%, 3.40GAA, 0SO, 2690SA

S83: Em Em Flex :sea: - 65GP, 50-12-2, 0.927SV%, 2.08GAA, 9SO, 1832SA

The Scott Boulet Trophy is awarded to the two-way forward in the VHL each season. Of late, 2 players have won the Boulet 3 consecutive times with Mikko Lahtinen (S74-S76) and Groovy Dood (S77-S79). This raises the question of “will we see a player win their 4th straight?” as Duncan Idaho has won the last trophy for the last three seasons or will somebody finally take the crown as the league's top two-way forward?

The nominees are:

Alex Johnston @Alex :rig: - 58G, 55A, 113P, 48, 100PIM, 231HIT, 27SB

Duncan Idaho @OrbitingDeath  :mos: - 52G, 51A, 103P, 36, 150PIM, 347HIT, 25SB

Vasile Lamb @dlamb :nya: - 49G, 45A, 94P, -19, 116PIM, 344HIT, 72SB

Henry Tucker @NSG :que: - 30G, 24A, 54P, -37, 57PIM, 270HIT, 106SB
