Vancouver Wolves vs. Calgary Wranglers (Game 58)

This game featured the Vancouver Wolves and Calgary Wranglers. An all-Canadian matchup featuring two Western cities. While both the Wranglers and Wolves both start with W, only one team could come out with the W. It was an uneventful first period until Erlantz Jokinen scored a goal after 15 minutes of play. That would be the only goal of the frame, giving Calgary a quick 1-0 lead. After the first intermission, the Wranglers heavily outshot the Wolves 16-7 and pelted Fuhr with the puck. Brandt Fuhr did not allow any of the Wranglers' 16 shots in and Ben Dahl also saved all of his shots against to keep the game at a score of 1-0 Wranglers in the second. The second period ended and after the second intermission, the third started with a quick goal. Daniel Janser scored the first of the period six seconds in while Landon Wolanin followed shortly after just under 40 seconds later. Calgary now had a 3-0 lead and the Wolves looked to respond. Thanks to Aurelien Moreau, they got their first goal of the game. However, about a minute later, Landon Wolanin scored a second goal. The score was 4-1 Wranglers as they shut down the Wolves' offense for the rest of the game.

Malmo Nighthawks vs. Riga Reign (Game 51)

The first game I reviewed was an all-Canadian matchup so why not an all-European matchup? (Which is a lot more common so I don't know why I'm hyping it up.)  The puck dropped and about 9 minutes of action passed by before Darth Kaprizov scored his fifth goal of the season, giving Riga the first goal of the game. However, 3 minutes or so afterward, Dabnad Shaw scored his first of the season to tie it up for Malmo. Those were the only goals of the first period and the teams entered the first intermission in a 1-1 tie. The second period began. 7 minutes into the period, Alexandre Leduc scored to give the Reign a 2-1 lead. They would hold on to that lead for the rest of the period. Malmo was only within one and most likely went into the third period looking to get the tying goal and then the winning goal afterward. Halfway through the period, however, Anze Miklavz scored to give Riga a 3-1 lead. Malmo was looking to score in the second half of the frame but Riga was able to prevent them from scoring, giving them a 3-1 victory.
