The Rookie Experience

Siyan made his debut against the Malmo Nighthawks in the VHL. It didn't take very long for Siyan to realize that this league was miles ahead of the VHLE and VHLM, and he had a long way to go before he would be considered one of the best defenseman. Being drafted to Davos, a rebuilding franchise, Siyan knew immediately that he wouldn't be putting up insane numbers, or that the team wouldn't be a top tier team. Once the season progressed, Siyan was struggling in the VHL, failing to put up any points and just overall being a liability. Multiple players in his draft class were already starting to pull ahead of him in the point race, and it looked like Siyan was starting to fall behind. However, one thing to keep in mind is that most of the players that are ahead of him in points are on better teams, therefore playing with better players, making them look better. Regardless though, Siyan was struggling and needed to find a way to get something going. Siyan would get slotted onto the second pairing to try to help him regain his game, but all that did was make him worse. Siyan currently at the moment has played 40 games, putting up 3 goals and 11 assists in that span, with a -7. Siyan went from dominating the VHLM and the VHLE, being one of the best every season, to now being at the bottom of the league and struggling to find success. However, Siyan hasn't been known to immediately start putting up huge numbers for the teams he's been on, it's taken him about half a season to get going, so maybe it'll take him a season in the VHL for him to make an impact. However, Davos this season has shown improvement, to now sitting at 22-16-2, good for 5th in their conference. Despite Siyan struggling, Davos has been making strides and has gotten better throughout the season, which is a good sign. Siyan will have to keep up with the team's improvement though, or he might get left behind. Next season, Siyan will be able to start to talk about an extension, so we'll see what his plans are. Overall, Siyan has found that he has to find new ways to up his game in the VHL, or he might find himself becoming a huge bust for Davos, and unfortunately find himself with less ice time.
