CaptainSB 117
Now after the first round the GMs have gathered to focus on how the roster currently looks with the 1st round selections and who is still available. The prospects on the other hand are all having some chip on their shoulder and vowing GMs will regret having passed on them in Round 1 and will really regret if they do it another round. What will happen? Will GMs regret? Let us find out as we go to the Second Round of the stinkiest VHLM Mock Draft. Here is the Round 1 Miami (11 OA): Gabriel Finley, LW (burritohour) The Marauders kick off the second round after filling in two spots with the 1st round. In this mock draft they took a top goalie and right wing. With already 2 centers, a RW and D, their biggest need would be a Left Wing or Defender. The top available prospects are LW Phil Sakic and Gabriel Finley, RW Captain Nugget Jr and Alex Ovechkin llll. Of the two they go with LW Gabriel Finley so they can bring back the prospect and have him grow and max over the season. Though Finley didn't have the best stats in a short stint last season, he had displayed late season potential that had Miami choosing to pull a surprise and go with the lower tpe Finley over Sakic. Saskatoon (12 OA): Phil Sakic, LW (Phil) The Wild are excited and get another prospect that fell due to position need or tie to prior prospect. They get their preferred player in LW Sakic who at 17 is tied with Jerry Box as the youngest players to be drafted so far. Sakic has shown his shooting prowess during his playoff run in Halifax and will look to fine tune that shooting skill to get the Wild to a repeat. Another major win for the defending champs. Mexico City (13 OA): Captain Nugget Jr., RW (Captain nugget) Mexico City is on the clock with back-to-back picks after making 2 picks in the last draft. Mexico City has a great chance to really retool their roster and excited to keep accumulating top prospects. With the first of two picks, Mexico City looks to go to bolster the offense and go with the top wing available in RW Captain Nugget Jr. What an awesome fun name to go with the team. The team is looking to capitalize on Nuggets to the stadium concession stands and offer fans a nice Hot Nugget and Salsa promotion during the whole S94 season. Mexico City (14 OA): Alex Ovechkin llll, RW (Bruh) Then they take the other top wing in Alex Ovechkin III. He comes from the lineage of former top VHL players and having a 3rd generation of greatness was too much for Mexico to pass up. They are hoping Nugget Jr and Ovechkin III will make their fathers proud and create a nasty right side attack that will be so difficult to defend. Philadelphia (15 OA): Leifr Eiriksson, D (BryceP) After taking Tim Robinson in the first round, they would love to take a C or D with this pick. After taking the oldest prospect in the class, Philly takes the youngest prospect in 16 year old Leifr Eiriksson. Eiriksson is the last of the 100+ tpe defenseman and fit in real nice with Robinson so hoping they attract both the younger and older demographic as their home game ticket sales have not been good the past few seasons. Their marketing and sales department were jumping up and down with these two picks. Las Vegas (16 OA): Jdog Kennedy, D (Jdog) The team with already 4 wings that took a defenseman in the first round, decide to go take another in 1st gen player Jdog Kennedy. Jdog comes from the top Kennedy bloodlines and is know to have the dog in him so he is a tough player on defense. After the all attack scheme failed in the playoffs, the Aces are looking to add more physicality to their defense and this is a perfect pick to add that tough D. Houston (17 OA): Einar Mathiesen, D (xsjack) Houston is finally on the clock after having no 1st round pick. Houston really needs a goalie and with limited picks unfortunately missed out on the top ones. The remaining ones felt a bit high to use with their 2nd round pick so they go search to find a prospect that fits them well. The team after losing some defensemen this offseason go with the top available D in Einar Mathiesen. That makes it 3 picks in a row a defenseman went so the run on defenseman is on! Saskatoon (18 OA): Lightning Mcsnipe, C (Langostine) The Wild with their second 2nd rounder go a bit strategic. They went with left wing last pick and right wing the pick prior. For this pick they go with a center to balance their rookie attack and select Lightning Mcsnipe from Canada. They get to bring back a Canadian native from warm San Diego and create a great 3 man front for the upcoming season. Halifax (19 OA): Mathias Gunnarsson, D (ThatCanadian) This is Halifax's onlly draft pick in the first three rounds as they mortgage their future to win last season which failed. Halifax's biggest need is defenseman and was on the short end of the stick of the prior run on Ds. The GMs at this point will be caught off guard not paying attention and with time running out decide to go with... That Canadian! People will never know if this was picked on accident or on purpose but the GM calls out the user instead of the player having other GMs scratching their heads. Here is hoping Gunnarsson plays solid D for Halifax and prove that they didn't make a mistake in blurting out a name. San Diego (OA): Danny Ross, C (Spartakiller2) For the final pick of round 2, San Diego looks to add to the right wing an defenseman they had drafted in round 1 with this pick. They go with the best remaining center in Danny Ross. Spartakiller had played for 3 different teams with his previous player and liked convinced San Diego to take a chance on him like he does constantly. His prior player had an amazing C season in the VHLM so San Diego is hoping this player, Danny Ross, can have the same sim luck. Round 2 is now officially over. Congrats to the 20 players drafted. The remaining 35 players are heated thinking they are overlooked and angrily await the next round. For those who have read this mock draft, share with me on the reply of which picks seem like steals and which are reaches by the teams if it played out this way. Let's hear from the mob!
