Welcome everyone,

My name is Toby Bob, and you probably already know my dad and uncle, Baby Bob and Bobby Bob who both had great careers in the VHLM, the VHLE and the VHL. I wanted to present myself a little bit before I finally joined a team in the VHLM and eventually get drafted in both leagues. Like I said, you already know my dad and my uncle, but I wanted to talk a little bit about me, my youth and maybe my goals at short and long terms.

So hi, like I said before my name is Toby Bob and I am a goalie. Unlike, Baby and Bobby I am quite tall. Indeed, I am 6’8” and I weight 250 pounds now. A lot of people are asking me how I can be that tall if my parents are pretty small and I honestly don’t really know the answer, but I think that my mom told me that somewhere in her family there were tall men, so I guess that’s how. My father was a forward and my uncle an offensive defenseman, but since I was a little boy, I knew that I wanted to be a goalie. When we were playing mini-hockey I was always the goalie, and everybody knew that there was no debate.

I traveled a lot when I was young, because my father traveled a lot. Indeed, I was born the same year my Baby Bob played his first season in the VHLM with the Mississauga Hounds. He played only two seasons with the Hounds before going to Rome to play for the Gladiators in the VHLE for one season. I was still very young, so I don’t really remember my time in Rome. However, I have some vague memories of the three years my dad played for the Prague Phantoms in the VHL. I remember that I was a little bit sad when I understood that we were leaving Prague to go to Chicago, but my mom told me that it was for the best. Baby finished his career with the Phoenix in Chicago, and I clearly remember that I really liked it there. After that, we came back to Quebec, and we lived there for the rest of my youth. I played a lot of hockey for a lot of different teams when I was younger and I think it gives me an advantage on the other goalies, because I experienced many different styles of hockey. I played in Rome, I played in Prague, I played in Chicago, and I played in Quebec.

I said earlier that I was going to talk about myself, so here it is, I am going to do a list of my qualities and the things I think I should improve. For my qualities on ice to start, I am tall which always helps. I am really good at reading the game and what is going on in front of me. My positioning is often on point, so there is not a lot of open spots for the opponents to shoot the pucks in the net. Finally, my hand with the glove is the corner I am the most comfortable with. On the other hand, I know I have some things that I need to work on to be ready for the big leagues. I have some difficulties with my movements, as you know I am a big guy, so that makes me a bit slow, but I know that I must work on that. I also have some problems with my stick and the hole between my pads. Now, for my personal qualities, I would say that I am pretty much always happy, I have a good leadership, and I always want to learn more to get better. However, I could say that I have a big character and that sometimes it gets me in arguments that I could have avoided.

Finally, I would like to talk about my goals and what I hope to accomplish in the big leagues. Obviously, I would like to start by getting drafted in the VHLM and in the VHL. The rank does not really matter as long as I get drafted, but I won’t lie, and I will say that it would be nice to hear my name in the 1st round. After, for my personal stats, the personal awards and the personal recognitions, I am not too worried about that. Of course, I would be really happy if I win some, but it won’t be my main focus. Indeed, my main focus would be to win a championship. Indeed, nothing would make me happier than winning the Cup in the VHLM and in the VHL.

I will finish this little text by saying that I don’t have any preference regarding the teams I play for. Indeed, I just want to be a part of a fun and active locker room.

Thank you!

Toby Bob
