In The Crease: Volume 2 - VHLM

Hello and welcome back for volume two of VHLM's "In The Crease". This is the second part in this three part series of articles. Last week, I took a look at the starting goaltenders for three of the eight VHLM franchises, in the form of Ryan Price (Bern Royals), Cooper Supernaw (Brampton Blades), and Artom Zhumbayev (Bratislava Watchmen). This week, three different goaltenders will be assessed on how their team has played as well as how their individual play had been up to about the halfway point of the VHLM season. So as not to delay anything further let's get to the next goaltender on the list.

Coca Cola - Moscow Red Wolves

Coca Cola went undrafted in the Season 41 VHL Entry Draft and was signed as a free agent by the Moscow Red Wolves of the VHLM in Season 47. He was definitely having a great season with the Red Wolves at about the halfway point, as far as individual statistics go. He had started 27 games and Cola posted a 8-18-1 record for Europe's last place Moscow Red Wolves. Coca Cola had faced the second most shots among VHLM starting goaltenders with 1065, just 50 shots less than Zhumbayev in eight less games played. He had allowed 84 goals against, and thus recording a league-best save percentage of 0.921. His goals against average sat at 3.10, worst in the entire VHLM so with that being said, his save percentage is even more impressive, Cola had yet to post a shutout on the season, obviously ranking him last in the that department and has added two assists and recording four penalty minutes.

Ivars Klajums - Oslo Storm

Ivars Klajums was selected with the number eighteen selection in the Season 42 VHL Entry Draft by the New York Americans and his season with the Oslo Storm has been an individual struggle, although the Storm had been playing some good hockey and sat in second place in the European Conference at the halfway point. Klajums had faced only 836 shots against, fifth among VHLM starting goaltenders. Of those 836 shots, 79 of them found their way behind Ivars and into the back of the net, for a save percentage of 0.906, fifth best in the league. Klajums appeared in 27 games and his record was at 12-12-3, a decent record but nothing spectacular. He was tied for third in shutouts with two on the season and also added two assists as well as two minutes in penalties.

Atticus Von Braxton IV - Ottawa Lynx

Atticus Von Braxton IV was selected in the Season 46 VHLM Dispersal Draft by the Ottawa Lynx with the first overall selection and is having a very decent season with North America's second place Ottawa Lynx at the halfway point of Season 47. Von Braxton had suited up for all 35 of Ottawa's games and posted a spectacular record of 27-8-0. Atticus had allowed 73 goals against on 864 shots faced (tied for fourth), for a 0.916 save percentage, good for the second best percentage in the league. His goals against average was at 2.08, which again had him at second in the VHLM in a statistical category. He was ranked tied for second in shutouts with a trio of them and had added four assists with no penalty minutes, so he was able to keep him temper in check.
