Smarch 3,180
Draft Day Approaches Ever Closer When the “Project Two” initiative was implemented by those in charge of the Victory Hockey League, the Season Fifty-Two Entry Draft was circled by those who follow the league. With ten second players in the draft, mixed in with those who retired their players prior to the season and those rare new members, the Season Fifty-Two draft is looking great to VHL General Managers. We`ll try our best at an early look into who may fall to what team in the upcoming First Round of the Season Fifty-Two draft. Obviously we cannot prediction how Higgins will rig the lottery results other than Helsinki with First Overall, so we’ll just look at the picks in the order of the current standings. Round 1: 1. Stockholm: Phil Shankly I mean does it really matter if Shankly has the most TPE come draft time? I think it’s a wide consensus around the Victory Hockey League that Shankly will be the First Overall pick unless a General Manager has an acquired brain injury before the draft. Shankly started with the bear minimum in practise hours when he first entered the VHLM at the Season Fifty Trade Deadline, but now he sits with 183 practise hours. As evident through the 150 plus TPE earned in just one season, Shankly is looking to impress the big league scouts as much as he can before draft day. Watch out for the rugged winger to be making an appearance in your VHL season next season. 2. New York: Fabio Jokinen Jokinen entered the VHL through an agency that is known to be fearfully loyal to the franchise that drafts their players. We’ll they obviously aren’t tied to this trait with players you would have to say that would be in the favor of Jokinen when the New York Americans walk up to the podium for the first of many Season Fifty-One draft choices. New York has three active defenseman on their roster, but shouldn’t balk at the chance of being able to grab the young Finish defender due to his previous relationship to the club through former player Jorma Ruutu. Jokinen hasn’t been the practise beast that he could be at this point in his career, which may be the only thing that sees the Americans pass him up. 3. Helsinki: Rhett DeGrath This pick seems like a no brainer once again thanks in large part to the player and team relationship that is already established. In no means would this be a charity pick either as DeGrath is looking more like a top three pick with each passing day. The British Columbia native took no time in showing his worth to VHL scouts when he entered the league last season at the trade deadline with the eventual Founders Cup champion Brampton Blades. DeGrath won a combined eighteen games in limited regular season and playoff play, but those eighteen games included the eight Brampton needed to take home the championship. With nothing but draft picks in the cupboards right now for the Titans, DeGrath will be a well needed addition in blue and silver. 4. Quebec: Daryl Dortch This is where the draft may turn a different direction and head off the beaten path, but we believe Quebec as enough faith in the evrydayimbyfuglien camp to select Dortch here at Fourth Overall. Dortch is having a good season in Bratislava putting up fifty-five points to go with his 269 hits on the season. When Dortch entered the league last season with the Brampton Blades, you could see how hard the young power forward would work in practise. It hasn’t fully paid off yet in just his first full season of professional hockey in the VHL system, but if he continues on his current path he will be superstar in no time. *For Snatch* Edited November 2, 2016 by Smarch jRuutu 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/35051-claimeddraft-day/ Share on other sites
