TheLastOlympian07 2,388
The ending is near for the this draft as next week we will go over the final team for the Season 1 Dispersal Draft. It will be slow for the time being but when I am hopefully and finally granted a 2nd player, I can pump out two of these a week. Anyways, next up is the Toronto Legion! 1st Round, 7th Overall: Goaltender Maxim Desny Career Regular Season Stats: 343 GP | 144 W | 169 L | 18 OTL | 0.908 SV% | 3.26 G.A.A | 12 SO | 0 A Career Playoff Stats: 23 GP | 12 W | 9 L | 2 OTL | 0.930 SV% | 3.04 G.A.A | 2 SO | 0 A Maxim Desny was the first pick of the Toronto Legion in their history and he didn't last very long. He was later traded to the Helsinki Titans where he became the GM and spent his whole career there. He ended up with a record of 144-169-18 with a 0.908 save percentage and a 3.26 G.A.A with 12 shutouts in 343 games played. He was lights out in the playoffs too with a record of 12-9-2 and a outstanding 0.930 save percentage and a 3.04 G.A.A with 2 shutouts in 23 games played. He was inducted to the Hall of Fame despite not winning a Continental Cup. He was unfortunately stuck on some bad teams in his career. 2nd Round, 10th Overall: Center Ryan Downey Career Regular Season Stats: 287 GP | 111 G | 178 A | 289 P Career Playoff Stats: 15 GP | 2 G | 6 A | 8 P Ryan Downey was picked 10th overall and while he somewhat lived up to hype. He played in 287 games scoring 111 goals and assisting on 178 goas for 289 points in his career. He was also decent in the playoffs with 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points in 15 games. He lasted 4 seasons in the VHL but you would expect more games from him as a 10th overall pick. He was a point per game though throughout his career so he wasn't that bad. You just wish he played more that 4 seasons. 3rd Round, 23rd Overall: Left Wing Viatchislav Trukno Career Regular Season Stats: 143 GP | 31 G | 84 A | 115 P Career Playoff Stats: N/A Slava Trukno, he was a late 3rd round pick and boy he was disappointing to say the least. He played in 2 seasons scoring 31 goals and assisting on 84 goals for 115 points. Not mind blowing stats but compared to his era that is kind of low. He also never played in the playoffs during his career. 4th Round, 26th Overall: Defenseman Ron Mexico Career Regular Season Stats: 72 GP | 10 G | 30 A | 40 P Career Playoff Stats: N/A Things just went from bad to worse with the 3rd round pick to the 4th round pick with Ron Mexico. However, he was traded from the Legion to the Titans for future Hall of Famer Alex McNeil. What a steal that turned out to be as Ron Mexico played just 1 season scoring 10 goals and assisting on 30 goals for 40 points. Not bad point totals but just playing in 1 season is bad. 5th Round, 39th Overall: Defenseman Michael Arsenault Career Regular Season Stats: 363 GP | 38 G | 156 A | 194 P Career Playoff Stats: 14 GP | 0 G | 0 A | 0 P Next up is Michael Arsenault who was drafted 39th overall by the Legion. He played in 363 games, scoring 38 goals and assisting on 156 goals for 194 points. Decent stats and a decent amount of games played for a 5th round pick. He also played in 14 playoff games but managed 0 points, yes 0 points in those games. Overall a great 4th defenseman over the course of his career. 6th Round, 42nd Overall: Center Franz Lindemann Career Regular Season Stats: 216 GP | 32 G | 112 A | 144 P Career Playoff Stats: 19 GP | 3 G | 10 A | 13 P Franz Lindemann was another draft pick that the Legion ended up trading away. He was traded to the Amstel Tigers where he spent his whole 3 season career. In the 216 games, he scored 32 goals and assisted on 112 goals for 144 points. He was a decent scorer in the playoffs with 19 games played, he scored 3 goals and assisted on 10 goals for 13 points. Overall, a decent pick up but not game changing in just 3 seasons. 7th Round, 55th Overall: Left Wing Jeff Van Slacker Career Regular Season Stats: 72 GP | 9 G | 15 A | 24 P Career Playoff Stats: 7 GP | 0 G | 1 A | 1 P Last and least for the Legion is Jeff Van Slacker. He played in only 1 season scoring 9 goals and assisting on 15 goals for 24 points. Nothing special as he was released after his one season. He did manage 7 playoff games assisting on 1 goal for 1 point. Conclusion Wow this is a pretty bad draft now that we go back in time to look at it. Desny was a great pick at 7th, Downey is a boarderline miss at 10th overall, if he had played more he would have been a hit. The rest though were bad to terrible. 1/7. New low! 1. Calgary Wranglers - 5/8 = 62.5% 2. Hamilton Canucks - 3/7 = 42.9% 3. Amstel Tigers - 3/8 = 37.5% 4. Helsinki Titans - 2/7 = 28.5% 5. Seattle Bears - 2/7 = 28.5% 6. Stockholm Thunder - 2/7 = 28.5% 7. Toronto Legion - 1/7 = 14.3% Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/35160-6-points-pls-part-7-reviewed/ Share on other sites
evrydayimbyfuglien 600
Review: This was well before my time so I don't recognize any of these names. Maybe if they were more successful players I'd know them based on that but with a 1/7 and Desny bouncing around, they can't get credit for his HOF stats. Nice work here, keep 'em coming. Hopefully you get your 2nd player like you said so you can do two a week.
