That is the question that has started to creep into my mind lately, I know I should be fully focused in Saskatoon and the finals, but its hard not to get bit excited, but also at the at the same time, slightly nervous about the draft. Huge change potentially, If the team that drafts me thinks I´m good enough already, I will have to move out of Saskatoon, the place that many call heaven on earth. I have enjoyed my time here, but luckily pretty much all of the teams and the cities they play in are nice places to live, so moving out of Saskatoon wont be as hard as it could be.

Now, I´m not totally sure where I will end up. Some rankings have me in the top-3, but I could just as easily be taken fourth or sixth overall, perhaps even later. No way to know what kind of players teams need.

I can always try to guess how the early parts of the draft goes, New York picks at first overall. I think its fairly easy to see who they will pick, its massive surprise if they pick someone else than Phil Shankly, he is a winger.  New York has quite few younger defenders already and every time you get the chance to add a elite level talent like Shankly in your team, you will take it.

Now the harder part comes, what kind of players the next teams need or want? Stockholm drafts at second, Quebec third, Helsinki fourth and to finish the top five, its Stockholm again.

Stockholm could basically use players on all positions, do they pick a goalie at 2nd or someone else and hope there is still a goalie left at 5th overall? Do they even want a goalie? Their number one goalie, Artom, he is a mysterious player, had a lot of potential early on, but for some cant seem to reach the level many expected, so picking a goalie could be solid option for Stockholm.

Quebec´s situation is better than Stockholm´s, Quebec have talented players on multiple positions and only position they might want to improve right away is the defense. Then again, its not often you get the chance to draft this many quality goalies and Quebec could do something surprising and pick another goalie and trade Dadonov for a defender? Nobody knows for sure what is going to happen.

Helsinki at fourth overall, is quite similar as Stockholm, they could use players on all positions really, they don´t have a goalie, so that might be their number one target, but what if both of the top goalie prospects are gone before they get to draft, I could see Helsinki picking a defender first or one of the wingers.

Stockholm is picking at 5th overall, 2 picks in the top- 5 this year is pretty good total for Stockholm and depending on who they go after at second overall, they might pick one of the wingers at fifth overall, Sami Zyan, Daryl Dortch are just some of the names who could join the Swedes.

That is a lot of words for basically nothing, but its hard to guess how these drafts go, New York at first is fairly sure pick, but after that? Who knows really. Personally I´m just happy to get drafted and start my VHL career. Does not matter too much if I get picked in the Top-5 or Top-10, I will do things the same way, keep on improving steadily and see where that takes me!
