Rookie Of The Year

After last seasons’ dismal showing by VHL rookies, many wonder what is in store for the first year of the Player Two project in the Victory Hockey League. A quick look through the VHL database shows the league enters Season Fifty-Two with nine rookies suiting up for six different VHL teams as of the first night. Today we’ll briefly touch on three rookies who should be making an impact throughout the next seventy-two games.

:nya:Phil Shankly: New York Americans:nya:

The First Overall pick from the Season Fifty-Two VHL Entry Draft, Shankly should make an immediate impact with the Americans right out of the gate. The agency has clearly stated leading up to the draft process that it would be an immediate goal for Shankly to win the rookie of the year awards in the VHL, and so far Shankly has done everything on his end to prepare putting in 316 practise hours before even stepping foot on the ice. Will Shankly be called up on stage to collect the hardware, or will it take the Englishman some time to adapt to the VHL style of play?

:que:Fabio Jokinen: Quebec Meute:que:

The second name on our list is that of Fabio Jokinen. Coming from an agency that is well known to produce loyal players, found a home in Quebec when they selected him Third Overall in the Season Fifty-Two VHL Entry Draft. Although Quebec isn’t expected to be a competing team in the North American Conference this season, but that should allow for Jokinen to take advantage and see more ice-time than some rookies around the league. Jokinen will have a tall task ahead of him being more of a defensive defenseman, but we think he’ll be near if not at the top or the leaderboard at seasons’ end.

:sto:Undertaker: Stockholm:sto:

That’s right folks we believe the Undertaker will see his name at the top of the rookie leaderboard come seasons end. After revelling his true identity this past week, the hockey player formerly known as Die Domi will be known by his true identity  or the Undertaker from here on out. If he lives up his him name we might just see some opposing players buried alive this season in Stockholm. With a roster full of first year players, look for the Undertaker to rise above the rest this season.
