Xander Finn Attacked!

Oslo defenseman survives murder attempt in Bratislava bar

You don't make your way to the top without making a few enemies. The Oslo Storm have been in and out of the top of the standings since the season began, and a big part of that has to do with their star defenseman, Xander Finn. Finn's been having a breakout year, leading the league in points and putting up strong hit and shot block numbers. This level of success often creates a polarizing split in fanbases. Storm fans love him, and to them he can do no wrong, while the other team's fans are less fond of the Canadian defenseman. Some fans express their displeasure in a more extreme way.

Shortly after a hard fought game with the Bratislava Watchmen, Finn and his teammates retreated to a local Slovakian bar for a bit of rest and relaxation. VHLM hockey is very prominent in Europe, and so the Storm players were quickly recognized by the locals. As the away team, they received mixed reactions from the other patrons. After a few drinks, Finn excused himself to the restroom, where a nasty surprise was waiting for him.

This man attacked Xander Finn with a wrench in a bathroom

As soon as he approached the urinal, the stall door opened and a crazed man in a Daryl Dortch jersey let loose a battle cry. Wielding a crescent wrench he took a swing at Finn. Despite his mere 40 attribute points in fighting, Finn dodged the blow and unleashed a hammer blow to the man's ribs. This caused the man to drop his wrench, which Finn grabbed in mid air and stuck it into his assailant's neck. Leaving the man to spray like a fire hydrant, Finn exited the bathroom and rejoined his team.

The Oslo defenseman decided that this would be a good time to leave, but unfortunately for him, Wrenchman was not the only one who wanted a piece of the kid. As he made his way down the street a car started to accelerate toward the young player. Looking back, Finn instinctively jumped onto the hood and rolled over the hood. The car continued onward with the Storm player on its windshield for a while, before Finn retrieved his pocket knife and punctured the front tire. The car began to lose speed and the driver started fumbling for a gun from his holster. Finn started stabbing the windshield until it shattered and then stabbed the driver through the back of his hand. Finn extended his stab into the passenger seat, pinning the driver to it and leaped off the car as it came to stop. Police sirens started wailing in the distance and Finn patiently awaited them, after disarming the driver and throwing his gun down a storm drain.

Finn spent the rest of the night giving the police his statement before being discharged, absolved of all crimes. The Storm defenseman rejoined his team and left for Oslo a few hours later, ready fr their next challenge on the ice. Most players aren't accustomed to that level of stress, but Xander Finn is a part of one of the more polarizing player agencies, and Kyle Snow teaches his players to deal with the pressure, both verbal and physical.
