Shawn Gretzky is having a very nice season, having been split between Saskatoon and Yukon. He put up 24 goals and 21 assists for 45 points in 48 games, in the 21 games since he has been traded to Yukon he has scored 12 goals and assisted on 18 goals for 30 points for a total of 75 points on the season. That is good enough for 7th in Yukon team scoring. However he is quite a few points behind league leader John Locke who has 84 goals and 80 assists for 164 points. His new teammate Apollo Aho is also having a good season with 52 goals and 63 assists for 115 points which is 3rd in league scoring. Does this ruin Gretzky's draft stock? maybe, maybe not but he knows he is better than his point total suggests. He can't wait to get drafted into the VHL and start his new journey on a new team. It will be interesting to see where he goes because there are 5 or 6 really good prospects who can be deemed VHL ready by the time of the draft but 3 of these are goalies. So that could either push Gretzky up or down depending on team needs.
