solas 1,918
Season 53 was a career year for Helsinki Titans forward Theo Axelsson. After spending the first three seasons of his career with the Calgary Wranglers as one of the top young prospects in the VHL, the Swedish winger was shipped to the Titans as a part of the oft-debated Black Velvet/Jacob trade. Alongside S53 first overall pick Franchise Cornerstone (and later Sir William Covington III as well), Axelsson was expected to take charge of the offense and start to establish himself as a premier scorer in the VHL. While his 45 goals and 91 points, a career high, was nothing to scoff at, it would once again be his physicality and not his scoring that would garner attention. For the first time in his career, Axelsson was able to break the 400-hit milestone - becoming the 11th VHL player to do so (Simon Valmount being the only to achieve this twice). His 402 hits ties him with Miles Larsson’s S34 total for 10th all-time. If he continues this pace, Axelsson could easily finish his career as one of the league’s best power forwards of all time. It’s unlikely that he’ll be focusing on that now however, as the Titans are currently slipping behind in the first round of the playoffs, with Cologne leading them 3-1 in their series. Ahma 951
Good luck on trying to break hitting records! Valmount was the GOAT. Would have wrecked the hits all time category if he would've played a full career. solas
