Keiji Toriyama traded again

Continuing his tour of the VHL, Keiji Toriyama was traded to the Vasteras Iron Eagles earlier today. This marks the sixth time that Toriyama has been traded and the fifth team that he has been under contract with since being drafted in Season 33. Even the draft pick that was used to select him was acquired in a draft-day trade when the Bears moved down a few picks.

The Iron Eagles are looking to be a serious competitor this season and going into the future, and acquiring Toriyama will help them in this goal. A fourth-year player, Toriyama was having the best season of his career with the Americans, ranking among the leaders in both goals and assists. He is currently fourth in points with 62, four of which came in four games with his new team.

Toriyama is under contract through Season 37, but the Iron Eagles will probably look to re-sign him when the time comes. Vasteras was one of Toriyama's more desired teams going into the draft, and he has now made his way there. This does not guarantee anything, as much time has passed since then. The strength of the Iron Eagles future will likely determine whether or not Toriyama will stay with the team, as he will be going into his sixth season when he does become a free agent. He hasn't had much success in the league so far, and if free agency gives him an opportunity to jump to a top team with a good chance at winning a championship, he may just do that.
