Player name: Arvid Aamo

Hometown: Tromsø, Norway

Position: Goaltender

Height: 6'1"

Weight:  210lbs

Team: Undrafted

Hailing from the Scandinavian hockey wasteland of Norway comes a young man with aspirations to make a real name for himself and move beyond any existing doubts about his character that come from his dubious choice of player representation. Arvid Aamo is an agile goaltender with a natural ability in the net, someone who has a real instinct for making saves and can be the kind of player to give teams a tough opponent between the pipes. Although little has been seen from Aamo in his short career so far, perhaps the makings of the VHL's next great netminder lies within this unassuming young man with a lot to prove.

POSITIVES

+Natural Ability

Aamo possesses great instincts in the net, being able to track pucks and get his body in line with shooters and the areas of the net they're targeting. He's very adept at taking on opponents in close, being able to close down the angles and take away the desired shooting area. If on occasion he is facing high pressure he can often rely on his inherent skill to pull off something spectacular and get him and the team out of harm's way for the time being.

+Temperament

One of the biggest assets that Aamo has is his willingness to learn and develop his game, and his unassuming nature. There isn't any sort of ego in the way that he goes about getting things done and it's to his credit that he can focus solely on his game and cast any other distractions and unnecessary wastes of time and work on improving as a player and a person.

 +Hockey IQ

Although it's something of a cliche, it's no exaggeration to say that Aamo has a very impressive hockey IQ. He can read the game at an incredible rate and with unnerving accuracy, making him a real asset not just on the ice but in the video room when it comes to helping draw up team strategies. Aamo can bring a lot to a team beyond what he does on the ice and that's something that may help him when it comes to his future.

NEGATIVES

-Inexperience

Spending his whole life so far in his native land of Norway, Aamo has so far had little experience against quality opposition and so it's not been too easy to judge just how much of a talent he could be when it comes to making a transition to the VHLM and eventually the VHL. It looks like he might have the basic game in place that could translate well to the level of play required for the tougher competition, but only time will tell and there is much development required before that time comes.

-Size

As goaltenders go, Aamo is definitely among the smaller side of those making their way in the modern game. Standing at just over 6 foot, Aamo simply isn't able to cover as much of the net as some of his opposition, leaving him at an inherent disadvantage. If Aamo can bring his level of play up to the next level to negate this then it shouldn't be too much of an issue, but for now it's something that does not stand in his favour and something that scouts could potentially hold against him.

-Player Agent

Aamo's controversial choice of player agent is a big question mark against his draft stock in the future. The Daniel agency has produced one good VHL player in the 4 players it has previously represented, something that GMs will be well aware of and a factor that Aamo will have to work to overcome if he is to be given a real chance to succeed.
