Edwin Encarnacion was a baseball player for the Toronto Blue Jays known for his insane home-run swing power and his less-than-convincing fielding capabilities. During one baseball off-season, Encarnacion saw then New York Americans defenseman Ryan Sullivan on the television and Edwin was left furious as the interview partly cut into his favourite show, Murder She Wrote. Instead of looking on youtube to find the part that was cut off, Edwin decided to throw away his baseball gear (except for his bat, which he tried to use during his hockey career on many occasions), handed in his retirement papers and set about joining the VHL so he could beat up Ryan Sullivan. While he never did manage to fight Sullivan (it would ultimately have been difficult as they only spent one year in the league together before Sullivan retired, likely out of fear), Encarnacion set all-time records for a defenseman in hits, shots blocked and penalty minutes while simultaneously being terrible at hockey. After being set on fire by order of the VHL commissioners for disgracing the VHL with his presence in the record books, Edwin was originally pronounced dead, but emerged at the door of VHL commissioner William Shaw giving him an ultimatum of letting the now on-fire Edwin return to the VHL or reporting him to the police. Shaw accepted Edwin’s demands and thus saw him return to the VHL, although now he had dubbed himself “Edwin Reencarnacion”. Surprisingly, Reencarnacion was actually awesome, winning two Continental Cups and a boatload of personal honours before being inducted in the Hall of Fame. However, the flames had died and Reencarnacion was dead, but it was discovered that he was never human to begin with and was actually a robot. This brought about “Project Threencarnacion”, an attempt to restore the player to his former glory, but ultimately science is difficult and they couldn’t recreate his physical approach to the game, so instead he was used as a backup goalie for his third run in the VHL. He went on to set the all-time record for goalie save percentage, but ultimately went missing after five VHL seasons and his current whereabouts are unknown.

But now a player dubbing himself Edwin Preencarnacion is here, claiming that Threencarnacion went back in time and brought him to the present day. Which makes sense I guess.

Pros

-          Potential – Luckily, we’ve already seen what Preencarnacion is capable of becoming when we were introduced to Reencarnacion, a remarkable Hall of Fame two-way forward. While it may be a struggle for a team to coax those same abilities out of Preencarnacion without setting him on fire, we know he’s capable of very special things, it’s just a question of how to get him to do that. No, we’re not setting him on fire again.

-          Scoring – This VHLM season, while Edwin was not one of the elite performers in the feeder league, he did have a knack for finding the back of the net, finishing ninth in the league in goals despite playing on an Aces team that wound up finishing bottom in the standings.

-          Big Game Player – While he would have wished for a better regular season performance, his early performances in the VHLM Playoffs show that he’s not fazed by the big game. During the three game sweep of the Yukon Rush, Edwin scored four goals and assisted four more which saw him lead his team in goals while also putting up two points more than any other player in that series.

Cons

-          Work Ethic – As it stands right now, while Edwin isn’t missing any practices, he’s not exactly straining himself with the amount of effort he’s putting in. While many players expected to be taken in the first round are putting in around ten-twelve hours per week of training, Edwin is only putting in around eight. Whether this is a sign of things to come or his effort will pick up once he’s drafted is up for speculation, but as it stands right now, his current effort will hurt his draft stock.

-          Physicality – It’s strange, but the one thing that Encarnacion was known for entering the league is notably absent from Preencarnacion’s game. Despite his big build, Edwin currently is struggling with the physicality of the game and, while he did record over 100 hits, he also faced over 100 hits. Given that the VHLM is noticeably less physical than the VHL, this may be cause of concern for Edwin’s professional prospects.

-          Decision Making – Right now, Edwin has a very one-dimensional approach to the game. It’s not that looking to put the puck in the net is his first instinct, it’s that oftentimes it’s his only instinct and only looks to pass when he finds himself in a situation where he can’t do anything else.

I think we've got a good player on our hands here. Was nice to see you come back. You're a big member full of experiencer and wisdom and it's always great to see a comeback from quality members. I think if you stick with it, you'll have a pretty decent player on your hands. Time will tell I guess, but I'm gonna say you're a great role player who averages somewhere around a PPG. That's just guessing though as the sim surely has a lot of randomness and fuckery.
