Vasteras in control of own destiny

With two games left on their schedule, the Vasteras Iron Eagles remain two points behind the Cologne Express for third place in the European Conference. Cologne also has two games remaining, including one against the Iron Eagles. If the Iron Eagles can beat the Express, they will own the tiebreaker should they end in a tie. Ideally, for the Iron Eagles, they would win in regulation against Cologne to ensure that a win in their final game would send them to the playoffs regardless of how Cologne does in their final game.

The Iron Eagles made trades in the middle of the season to improve their roster, but the results have been lackluster. Despite the Express roster being weakened by trades, they have climbed from fourth place to a current playoff position late in the season.

The Iron Eagles certainly weren't expecting to be in the situation that they are in now, but if they win these final two games to make it into the playoffs, they will enter the post-season on a six-game winning streak. Having recently shut out Europe's first-place Dynamo and taking what could turn out to be a very important point against another playoff team in the Quebec City Meute, Vasteras would not go into the playoffs expecting an early exit.
