CARDSTON, ALBERTA --- The lights of the Enmax Arena have long shut down, but yet their shining young star still brightly lights up the moderate sized city of Lethbridge, Alberta; Rylan Peace - now eighteen and a free agent of the Victory Hockey League - was never truly able to lift the Cardston Steelheads or the Lethbridge Hurricanes into the next realm, but the young adult was able to give a small town something to cheer and hope for in the future - a future of, just maybe, the crowned achievement making its way down main street in the next decade; Lethbridge on the other hand would be satisfactory to have a great alumni player to add to their growing list.

Rylan Peace has a magnitude of tools in his handy-dandy utility belt, but let's be real - he won't be a batman of the VHL anytime soon - but he could be the super hero a struggling team needs, a person to inject hope and inspiration into the club's identity. His most prolific tool is his deadly shot, which some would compare to highly accomplished players even at his young age. Rylan Peace accomplished what many thought was impossible with the ever struggling Cardston Steelhead AA high school team, he showed that his near legendary work ethic and unfaltering determination was more than enough to carry a smaller less talented team into the playoffs not once, but twice, even if they were eliminated in the first round in their back to back appearances.

Rylan was also modestly successful at a higher level of competition in the CHL, becoming an asset for the Lethbridge Hurricanes while they pushed for a Memorial Cup, although both attempts were in vein as the club never progressed beyond the conference finals. Having success in two entirely different competition levels means that Rylan Peace has the tools to adapt to scenarios, learn the flow of the game and make it work for the type of player he is.

Rylan also thrives in the twilight zone between heavy spotlight exposure... and the blank articles fourth-line grinders rarely gets, which just happens to be about as dark as a moonless light in the middle of a forest; however, like many youngsters, Rylan struggles when expectations are set to high for him to accomplish - but perhaps his most respected attribute is his sportsmanship. Overall, the young prospect just might make a good first line player in the VHL, but for now he's just an extra ordinary young man anyone can approach and get a laugh from.

STRENGTHS

SHOT: Rylan's shot - as mentioned above - is absolutely deadly. You couple his shot speed and accuracy with his quick, clean releases from in tight and as far out as the faceoff hashes in the attacking zone, you're going to get a high scoring individual. If you're able to put the puck on his stick, he'll more than likely get a good shot on goal faster than a defender can react.

STRENGTH: Rylan is fairly strong for his size and age. He is able to hold people along the boards - which in turn allows him to battle for the puck along the boards if he wasn't the one who initiated board play - on top of having the strength to compete in a mans game, although the young man still needs to bulk up in places to be more competitive in the future.

PERSONALITY: Rylan has a 'never give up' attitude and a strong work ethic that has a tendency to slowly radiate around him. He's one of those players who will be on the ice until management tells him to get off, he's one of those players who will take three hundred shots at an open net aiming for a tooth picks hanging down from the netting just to improve his accuracy. What ever the task, Rylan will try his best to achieve success in it.

WEAKNESSES:

SKATING: Rylan is - unfortunately - a little underwhelming with his skating ability. Becoming faster and more agile on the ice should be Rylan's highest priority this offseason, especially once teams start showing an interest in the young draft-eligible prospect. Although Rylan isn't fundamentally fast, he is still a physically strong skater and doesn't get knocked around easy.

PASSING: Rylan isn't a play maker by any sense of the means - his offensive tools rely on his accurate shots - but he certainly needs to improve his passing skills in order to compete in the VHL beyond bottom six roles. While Rylan isn't the worst passer out there, he'll struggle on stretch passes and collecting flip passes on the rush. If he focuses on Improving his passing abilities and hand eye coordination in relation to passes in the air, he can become a far more effective player.

CHECKING: Rylan needs to utilize his large frame and VHL ready weight before he can truly elevate to the next level in the VHL. Although he isn't afraid of taking a hit, the youngster rarely - if ever - throws a check of his own despite his relatively modest size and good strength. When Rylan does throw a hit, he struggles finishing his checks which can (and has) resulted in the opposing player gaining the advantage on Rylan both offensively and defensively due to his poorer skating abilities.
