Sometimes, you come across a player who has his destiny laid out for him. Kronos Bailey is the culmination of a perfect storm that leads to his path in the Victory Hockey League. Named after the leader of the Titans in Greek mythology, Bailey also has the bloodlines of a VHL Great. Indeed, as the grandson of Matt Bailey, Hall of Fame forward/defenceman from the S12 draft, Kronos was all but destined to lead the Helsinki Titans to glory! With his grandfather named GM, once again, of the Titans, Kronos will now be bringing his talents to Finland, where he hopes to follow in the great footsteps of his grandfather, bringing a game not too dissimilar to that of the Hall of Famer!

Strengths

Shot

Kronos has a lethal shot, even at 18. Strength, accuracy, release. Every aspect of his shot is already at a VHL level, and no scout who has ever seen him play has had a negative word to say about Bailey’s shot. Fans who see Bailey play should expect to see a scoring threat any time he touches the puck inside the opposition’s blue-line.

Hockey IQ

Coming from a Hall of Fame bloodline, Kronos has always had a knack for knowing where to be on the ice. Whether it’s in the offensive zone, or defending in his own zone, the young Bailey has a tremendous knack for knowing where the play will be. It’s a skill that will lead to offensive heights, and defensive prowess, potentially picking up where Matt left off when he made the transition to defence, winning multiple Boulet Trophies as the league’s top 2-way player. If he doesn’t win the award, he will surely be in the running every year during his prime!

Physical Play

Another card pulled from the deck of his legendary grandfather, Kronos uses every inch of his 6’4” frame to its greatest potential. Laying out devastating hits that turn the tide of games in his teams’ favour, protecting the puck in the corner, or just bowling through defenders on the rush, Bailey loves to hit, and be hit, as it seems to drive his game. The rougher the game gets, the better he seems to play!

Not-Strengths

Playmaking

As a gifted sniper with tremendous puck skills, one aspect of his game that Bailey sometimes neglects is, well, that he has teammates with him on the ice. Rarely will you see him pass up an opportunity to shoot the puck; advanced scouts make a joke about the not-so-secret secret that on a 2-on-1, the goalie can just focus on Bailey, as he’ll never pass. That’s not to say the goalie can stop his shot, but Bailey almost never mixes in a pass on 2-on-1s/

Discipline

While he loves the physical game, sometimes Bailey can end up crossing the line. Dumb penalties are an issue that can arise, sometimes at inopportune times. If he can cut down on the bad penalties, the Titans can live with most of the others, as they usually are a result of his physical play, which they do not want to coach out of his game.

Skating

While his skating is not a weakness, it does hold him back from breaking away from defenders or catching them on the forecheck. It is currently considered league-average, for the VHLM, but will need to be something he works on if he wants to truly make a name for himself in the VHL, rather than survive on his grandfather’s legacy.
