While Jagger never truly developed his second nature of shooting, he more than makes up for his lack of scoring prowess with an overly-mature defensive ability for his age. Throughout his career, Philliefan has played on the first defensive pairing, often acting as either half of an elite shutdown pair or as the defensive anchor to complement an offensive defenseman. His skating is another one of his strengths; while never the fastest player on the ice, his stamina allows him to play long minutes consistently, even having gone so far as to have played over an hour on the ice in his double-overtime Midget A debut. He's nothing but a sporting, classy player who is willing to stick up for his teammates. He is loyal beyond compare and is willing to take a substantial hometown discount to bring success to his team, if necessary.

Strengths

  • Physicality/Strength

Never the biggest player in terms of height, Jagger's thick build allows him to cleanly body opponents off of the puck with ease. His strength allows him to block shots at a constant rate, always willing to make the sacrifice for his goalie and his team.

  • Skating/Speed

Speed kills and Nathan understood that motto at a young age. He realized that being big and strong isn’t the only thing needed for the new style of play so he worked on his skating, mainly he trained his agility in the corners. Nathan excels in the dump and chase system. He isn’t challenging McDavid for the title of fastest skater alive but he's got the ability to break away when needed.

  • Defensive awareness

Jagger is always in the right place at the right time in his own zone. The type of PK-specialist most teams crave, he is a minute-muncher with defensive prowess to spare. Often deployed constantly during the late periods of close games, Jagger quickly attains the trust of his coaches to anchor the team in high-pressure situations.

Weaknesses

  • Shot Accuracy

Never a strong shooter, Jagger can still score. He is able to go to the dirty areas to get the puck but severely lacks the necessary shot to be a consistent scorer from anywhere other than the point. He is always willing to work on his flaws, however, this is one of his biggest.

  • Discipline

Playing with the defensive fortitude he does, Jagger is bound to have many struggles with the rulebook early in his career. While few, if any, of his penalties, are ever dirty, his aggressive style of play and willingness to take one for the team leads to an excess in PIM for the young American defenseman.

  • Fighting

Again, Jagger’s true clean style of play led him to lack a fighting skill thus far in his young career. While his fighting menace may improve as he grows in age, he currently is no more skilled as a fighter than a layman, mostly due to his hesitancy from staying true to his clean, sporting style of play.

A: 121

P: 121
