Riga Wins Draft Lottery

Going into the draft lottery all of the players, fans, and staff of the organization collectively held their breath.  We know how great the Season 37 Draft looks on paper but the general consensus is there are two front runners.  Riga finished with the second worst overall record this season meaning the team could have ended up drafting anywhere from first to third.  Luckily for the team they won the lottery despite a New York franchise having three lottery picks.

After a long off-season of scouting, contacting minor league affiliates, and player interviews it appears Riga has settled on their first overall pick.  On paper it is a clear cut answer that Riga needs a defenseman pundits from around the league are all but guaranteeing a Slaeter Fjorsstrom pick.  However many sources have recently been quoting from inside the organization that the team will go with the arguably better prospect in Tom Slaughter.  To better accommodate the need for defenseman rumor has it that one of the existing Riga players will switch to D in order to fit Slaughter onto the roster.  With weeks still before the draft and the history from Reign GM Mike Szatkowski anything is possible between now and then.
