Playing some cards with my friends. It's been too long since we've gotten to share a beer in person.

6. If you had the chance to bring a new team to the VHLM, where would you want them to play and why?

Buffalo, NY. Great hockey town, and that area of the country is underrepresented in the league.

We keep doing what we've been doing. It's worked for us so far. At some point, however, I'd like to see all of us take it to the next level.

5. What are you looking forward to doing the most as quarantine restrictions are moving towards lifting?

 

Personally, I'm just looking forward to going out more. Part of the fun of this job is we get to travel, and I do the same on my off time. So really just getting out and seeing different places, being able to take it all in, that kind of thing.

6. If you had the chance to bring a new team to the VHLM, where would you want them to play and why?

 

Saturn. Dude, playing on Saturn's icy rings would be dope!

King: “While I wasn’t fortunate enough to interact or play with/under Proto as a Player/GM, I hope nothing but the best for Proto and his future endeavors. Sometimes a change of scenery is exactly what you need and that’s the mindset Vegas needs going forward.”

King: “Well, as the GM that brought me in, I’m happy to be apart of this great organization. I think Spartan has a eye on winning and he has a lot of potential as a top GM in the VHLM.” 

 

3. Smack dab in the middle of the season, we remain among the best teams in the league with 57 points. What can we do to maintain this momentum pushing forward?

 

King: “I’m a little biased to say that added depth down the middle is vital to our success. Beyond that, interacting with teammates, building chemistry, the fundamentals will be what carry us through the final half of the season.”

 

4. What are some goals you have to make the second half of your season even better than the first half?

 

King: “As a team we need to focus on maintaining our game and improving down the middle. My role on the team is to provide that strong presence. Personally, I want to showcase my skills at 5-on-5 and earn some PK time.”

 

5. What are you looking forward to doing the most as quarantine restrictions are moving towards lifting?

 

Moose: Going back to work strangely enough. I was a casualty of the stay-at-home cuts and furloughs so I’m eager to get back to getting a check.

 

6. If you had the chance to bring a new team to the VHLM, where would you want them to play and why?

 

Moose: Detroit. It feels wrong to not have a Detroit based team in any sport, regardless of whether they’re any good. lol

3. I think that they're going to worthy causes, and it's important to not let this be a one and done conversation. These are topics that need to continue to be discussed.

4. Win, win, and win some more. We've got a great group, so I'm looking forward to seeing what damage we can do to establish ourselves as major contenders.

King: "I think Spartan has done an admirable job at the helm of the Aces. It's a tough position to bring together pieces from a previous regime while instilling your own blueprint on the team but he's done a good job thus far. We're expected to contend this season and that's in large part thanks to the moves Chief [has] made throughout the campaign."

 

2. VHL's Pride month is in full swing now. What do you think of the logos for the various teams?

 

King: "Big shoutout to @Poptart for some of the excellent work on logos. It's no secret where the world currently sits and it's great to see so many people coming together. It's been personally affecting to see how Pride month has effected the lives of friends and family and anything that furthers that cause is outstanding."

 

3. We raised an incredible amount of money for our BLM charity drive. How do you feel about the charities chosen to receive the money?

 

King: "To echo previous statements, it's no secret where the world currently sits. While I don't choose this platform to take stance on any particular events currently in the news I am tremendously proud to be in a league and with a team that is so inclusive and represents the values and morality of human kind and human kindness. It's an incredible feat for any league to set aside hard earn monetary gains to help stimulate change on a global scale. While I haven't personally researched some of the foundations receiving donations I can take comfort in the brilliant minds of the VHL/VHLM that this money is going exactly where it should. I'm proud of everyone."

 

4. What are your goals for the team as we near the playoffs?

 

King: "To pick up on an earlier question, I expect us to contend for the Founder's Cup. I think we have the pieces to go deep into the playoffs and expect the stellar play we've gotten all season long to escalate into the postseason. Everyone needs to do their part. I can't and won't speak to the goals and mindsets of my teammates, I will say that my performance starts with me. While I haven't yet hit the scoresheet I have to continue to do the right things and be in the right places for us to succeed. At the end of the day there are two teams ahead of us in the standings and once playoff time comes anyone can make a run. My job is to facilitate the Aces on that run, whatever my role may be."

 

5. Have you used our wonderful in-house casino? If not, why haven't you gambled away all of your salary back to the team...erm I mean won?

 

King: "No *laughing*, I haven't had a chance to double or triple my salary yet. I can't speak to others' success in the casino but I've heard some horror stories in the lockeroom."

King: "I have not had the chance to have a one-on-one conversation with Twists as of yet. Definitely excited to see what our new AGM brings to the table."

1. He's doing great. I'm seeing the effort he's putting into the team both as the GM and as a player, and I have no doubt that it'll pay off.

King: "Well, the gang and I are working on perfecting the dance to Moskau by Dschinghis Khan. It's difficult but we'll get there. Definitely a team effort."

Moose: I have drunkenly spent $104 at McDonald's. I bought so many chicken nuggets and fries that they actually had us pull to the side and had to take other order first while ours was being prepared. We were all obnoxious but I'm a happy drunk so it was okay. Best nuggets I've ever eaten.

Both: I don't have an Instagram.

I do hurt myself, but I don't shower. I am dancing alone in the team shower for sure.

I spent 32 dollars. I got 32 dollar cheeseburgers. Not a bad deal, honestly.

1. I hurt myself doing normal, everyday activities. I don't need to add risks by dancing in the shower, but that doesn't always stop me. 

2. I don't really eat McDonald's, so, $5 on a milkshake??? Maybe french fries???

I would say I hurt myself quite often, gotta really get into it, y'know. Always a solo performance, this is not a 'for the boys' moment...

Not so much the money spent, but the quantity of the order. I ordered the whole $1 menu which was quite a lot of food, didn't cost much but was damn good.
